Listener comments!

  6:17pm Richard from Venezuela:

Hi rob. Nice Mulatu Astatqe Arrangement. I discovered it by your show. Terrific Musician.
  6:38pm julian:

Fathy! Nice choice. Suitable.
  6:40pm Your Lemezlovas:

Thanks Richard!
  6:43pm gamal:

dude, this is not egyptian.. only the chorus is even arabic : )
  6:46pm Your DJ:

Oh I know, it's Youssou N'Dour singing in Wolof! But he was collaborating with Fathy Salama and his group from Cairo. I'm not really doing a purely Egyptian set this time around, more hybrid as you can hear on this Hakim track too which is actually in the Rumba Catalan style.
  6:48pm gamal:

oh ok then. so peeps there worried about islamists.. how about this time america doesn't bribe any goverment and many even the islamists will calm down? ; )
  6:52pm Your DJ:

I don't think people who are in the know are too worried about the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt - although most Americans are pretty ignorant about all of this stuff! (I didn't mean that to be a really serious statement - I was more using the example to criticize the press coverage.) But the US certainly does have a long history of supporting dictatorial governments for the wrong reasons - South America anyone?
  6:53pm sigurdur:

Hey there gamal i iam wondering where your´s gamal arrives from?
  6:58pm gamal:

yeah true, US imperialism is all over and won't stop for another 10-20 years when the empire finally crumbles from debt. Gamal is not my name, but i thought of sth egyptian, G abdul nasser. No special meaning in it.
  7:06pm sigurdur:

Alright . I was just ponderig because the meaning of gamal in norse means tgelder (meaning something that´s old) man that´s old, of experince
  7:07pm Richard from Venezuela:

Good start of Real Vocal's set.
  7:12pm sigurdur:

sorry misspelled the older was my meaning
  7:15pm sigurdur:
