  9:26pm
northguineahills:

  9:30pm
fleep:

Tomorrow is Dead Presidents' Day. We all have to go out and buy a mattress.
  9:36pm
Marmalade kitty:

Happy "Dead presidents Day"
  9:45pm
FMU Idiot:

Dead presidents or not Monday is my day off. However my frail boss ain[t doin' so well, so I'm just waiting for the call. If I go in it's all OT, so bring it on.
  9:59pm
Marmalade kitty:

What is "not music? I was lead to believe it was a "new" album, but it seems it is more of a compilation of unreleased studio tracks..
  10:02pm
Marmalade kitty:

..recorded at the same time as the Chemical Chords recordings.
  10:04pm
Your DJ Types:

marmalade, they seem to be unreleased studio tracks from 2007-2009. not really an album per se, but fun all the same.
  10:04pm
barbatos:

hahah how have i not heard this cover of monkberry moon delight before?? so awesome.....
  10:07pm
Marmalade kitty:

Yes.. When it was released in Nov '10, I started looking all over the place for tour dates, believing they had reformed..! Not so:(
  10:11pm
qwertyjames:

Man, do I love "long promised road"
  10:22pm
tomB:

As a 1st time listener to your show, you had me going there for a while. Starting w A.L. Oldham to D.Hathaway, I had concluded the show's principle was "unfaithful to the original"
  10:22pm
Maff:

Loving It, Fidel -- thanks for the Soft Machine
  10:24pm
northguineahills:

Tanks Fidel and other FMUers,, I'm finally done w/ work, back tomorrow. I'm going to need some Merzbow or something to keep me alive tomorrow at work.

cheery 'ooo's, everyone!
  10:33pm
Marmalade kitty:

Fidel, you played "Michelle" during your seg.. may I ask by which artist, please?
  10:35pm
Your DJ Types:

paul mauriat is the man behind the symphonic "michelle"
  10:37pm
Marmalade kitty:

Thhank you :)
  10:49pm
Andy S.:

Townes Van Zandt - "Delta Momma Blues." Please don't tell me that this song is NOT about heroin.
Don Gibson - "Sea of Heartbreak." Am I in violation of the WFMU Code of Cool when I say that I prefer the Roseanne Cash/Bruce Springsteen cover (from 2010) to the Don Gibson original?
  10:51pm
qwertyjames:

@Andy S.: my first exposure to the song was through cash/springsteen, and i loved that version, but the original is brilliant in a wholly different way. they go for different goals and succeed at them.
  10:52pm
Your DJ Types:

i agree, qwerty!
  10:52pm
Jules:

I was waiting for some Sly! Didn't know he covered the Kinks - too cool.
  10:55pm
fleep:

the producer on this one really liked tambourine
  10:56pm
ajrr:

@fleep that's because tambourines are awesome
  10:58pm
dave:

this show's had its share of good covers, but this archies cover is especially awesome.
  11:01pm
Andy S.:

Re: Dave Dee & Co. Never knew these guys had made a record as tuff as "Hold Tight!" Thank you, Fidel!!
  11:10pm
Andy S.:

Re: The Vagrants. I saw them live, opening for the Doors (NYC - Fall '67?) They had a bubble machine on stage and I think Leslie West may have set his guitar on fire. What made me more nervous was that Leslie was pretty chunky (even then) and sweating profusely in a full-length suede coat -- I was afraid he'd have a heart attack on stage.
  11:21pm
Your DJ Types:

oof, andy, that sounds rough!
  11:22pm
slugluv1313:
