You were great last night, Irene :) How did you like the pictures (I tried my best).

Hola Ricardo and I agree about the Coltrane
  12:07pm
Cecile:

Good morning all. Glad to hear the marr-a-thon went well!

And Danne D, you deserve a medal for all your pitching!
  12:07pm

Bonjour Irene,
great start for a great post marathon !
  12:16pm
Danne D:

LOL you guys are great :) but my part in this thing of ours is very tiny :)

Richard, kind of fearing any of those pics that I'm in :)
  12:20pm
yoko in kyoto:

Great!
  12:21pm
Irene:

Thanks everybody for a wonderful marathon! I had a lot of fun singing with the Hoof & Mouth Sinfonia last night. Now I'll have to go back and hear how that really sounded! More pictures will follow on my Flickr page tomorrow. I just couldn't get it together to post 'em on 5 hours sleep. There are a couple of bad snaps from my cameraphone on my Facebook page. Thanks again, dear listeners!
  12:21pm
Andy in Nova Scotia:

Nice segue- Magic Carpathians into Hendrix- only on WFMU
  12:22pm

BSI:

128k mp3 stream dead or is it just me...... being dead?
is this......the afterlife?
  12:28pm
Liz B.:

Hey BSI, try reconnecting to the MP3 stream via the link on this page and see if that doesn't solve the dropout. Let me know if it works and I can investigate further.
  12:28pm
Dominick:

128k mp3 stream is down?
  12:29pm
Nathan:

Stream seems to be down..
  12:29pm
BSI:

No dice, ms. B...

  12:30pm
Liz B.:

Thanks for the update, will kick the streaming computer now...
  12:30pm
Ike:

AAC+ stream is still going, for those who have Winamp, VLC, Foobar2000, or Windows Media Player with Orban plug-in.
  12:31pm
Asparagus the Archdruid:

Absolutely phenomenal remaster. My friend Cameron worked on this surrounded by Brinks security guards and Hendrix's sister with Kramer.
  12:31pm
BSI:

so this isn't the afterlife...... hm....
  12:33pm
BSI:

Good lord, Ike, that last shot (weeping w/asparagus) is a thing of obscene beauty.
  12:38pm
Jimi S.:

Hendrix perfect in wake of time change. Healing touch.
  12:43pm
pierre:

the 128k mp3 stream is back
  12:50pm
Asparagus the Archdruid:

Might I make a humble request for some Asa-Chang if we are paying respect to Japan whilst playing some pretty mentalist music...
  12:53pm
Prince:

I like this purple playlist. Best thing since Donny Osmond's socks!
  12:57pm
glenn:

i almost hate to say it........ the flying purple playlist eater?
  12:59pm
Parq:

12:53 comment - did someone hear Irene singing "Some Day My Prince Will Come"? Mandatory reference to the notorious Animaniacs gag hereby taken as read.
  1:01pm
bruceleh:

Fillipino guy in my office fixing a computer, says on Sun Ra, "That sounds like mixture of folk and jazz."
  1:04pm
Jimi S.:

Actual quote spit out by my printer 2 hours ago: "OK, so a giant robot's out to break apart a pyramid that'll release a machine that eats suns."
  1:10pm
Cecile:

Filipino guy is right on.

Maybe a little Ghost is in order as well?
  1:12pm
Parq:

Jimi S, either your office's network has acquired self awareness and is going rogue, or your IT people have some really interesting side projects going.
  1:16pm
Cecile:

Yoko Ono...
  1:19pm
Jimi S.:

Could be either.
  1:22pm
pierre:

@ Jimi S, i think that's a quote from Transformers.
  1:24pm
Jimi S.:

That would make sense. Probably no connection to Sun Ra then.
  1:27pm
...:

But that begs the question: is Jimi's office aligned with the Autobots or the Decepticons?
  1:31pm
pierre:

No connection between a great musician, and a trashed franchise.

i personally stands next to the Deceptibots cousins of the Autopticons, who are at peace, and enjoying a great set from I. Trudel.
  1:35pm
glenn:

oh fairport. how do i love thee?
  1:36pm
glenn:

although admittedly, i think what we did on our holidays is far and away their best record.
  1:37pm
Jimi S.:

Hear, hear.
  1:39pm
Jimi S.:

I'll be hangin with Robyn and Joe Boyd at World Cafe in Philly tonite. Thanks for playing Irene.
  1:45pm
Irene:

I saw the show Joe & Robyn did at Le Poisson Rouge. Brilliant!!
  1:45pm
Carmichael:

And I will be hangin' with Richard Thompson on the 23rd.
  1:45pm
tomB:

Irene, were you able to break away for the show @le poisson rouge? Any other performers? I had to work, but went to the Boyd show 1.5 yrs ago @Joe's.
  1:49pm
Cecile:

Porucpine Tree!!!!
  1:51pm
Irene:

Just the two of them, in the round, Joe reading and telling stories, Robyn covering tunes from bands Joe produced. It was really fun! Now I have to get around to reading Joe Boyd's book.
  1:51pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Oh my good. Porcupine Tree. Irene you're so great. Thanks for this song.
  1:56pm
Cecile:

I liked the metallic turn! LOL! he's gotten more mellow again.
  1:57pm
Alan Cynic:

The Boyd book is definitely worth a read!
  1:58pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Steven Wilson, Genius!!!. I love a record produced by him, Damnation from Opeth. Good vibe too.
  2:01pm
Looms:

Hello Irene and everyone!
Though the goal hasn't been reached yet, it's a pretty good score. I'm needed sure the station will get the money before the end of the year.
Anyway, the Finale was brilliant!
  2:03pm
Looms:

Meant "I'm pretty sure"... That's what happens when you burn the midnight oil on sunday eve :(
  2:04pm
Cecile:

he also produced Opeth's Deliverance, considerably more punishing than Damnation...
Also a great album, as is their Blackwater Park and Ghosts of Perdition.

Irene did you get into Wilson's Insurgentes solo album? That was quieter and quiet good, as was the Tree's Fear of a Blank Planet...
  2:05pm
Richard from Venezuela:

I love In absentia and The Incident.
  2:07pm
Yair Yona:

Hey Irene. just dropped in to see what condition my condition is in
  2:10pm
Neil Bostock:

Randomly found your show today, while you were in the middle of playing "A Sailor's Life". A Fairport classic and it blew me away to hear it on the radio. Found your website and your playlist is awesome. Will be listening again for sure. Thanks!
  2:13pm
HΘRNΣT MΘNTANA:

The color here IS.
  2:22pm
Amanda:

Not only did Irene turn out a wonderful stirring performance last night (I mean is anyone surprised), she loaded out equipment until like 3 AM and then drove four of us home.

And now is doing a typically great radio show.

<3 THANK YOU IRENE!
  2:26pm
Hugh:

Irene!
Great to see you on the Sinfonia, the best ever! You haven't played "Downtown" yet, is it on today's playlist?
  2:26pm
?:

That's not Red Chair Fade Away
  2:26pm
?:

I think Gilbert Green had another sister. Her name was Eleanor Rigby.
  2:27pm
Andy in Nova Scotia:

Just a brilliant show today, Irene. Thank you.
  2:28pm
?:

But it was a good Bee Gees song. What was it?
  2:28pm
zoots:

Thanks for the ISB. I couldn't get Mercy I Cry City out of my little head this weekend. Wonderful show, as always.
  2:28pm
Maria D:

Killing it today!
  2:30pm
christopher Clabbers:

Irene, Is the Porupine Tree Signify a import cd? That song is not listed on the LP on itunes. Love your show...
  2:31pm
Jimi S.:

Based on today's show I'd say sleep deprivation becomes you, Irene.
  2:32pm
tomB:

Definitely th BGs, definitely not Red Chair
  2:33pm
Cecile:

that's because the title is "The Sleep of No Dreaming."
  2:33pm
Cecile:

Gotta fix that, Irene.
  2:35pm
Mary Wing:

Oh Cecile, I think your AOL email got hacked. I received some spam from you yesterday; and I know you're not the spammin' type. :-) Anyone else mention this to you?
  2:36pm
Cecile:

Yes, everyone I know, Mary! It was a bummer. I changed my password so it should behave now. SOrry about that.
  2:38pm
Mary Wing:

Seems like everyone I know who still uses AOL has been hacked in the past 12 months. Very disturbing. But hey, I guess it means I'm in your address book, whee!
  2:39pm
Parq:

Movie idea: "The Spammin' Type", a heatwearming romantic comedy about life and love in a Flatiron District web consultant firm. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll text. Mary Wing, I'll have the limo pick you up for the premiere. You too, 'Cile.
  2:40pm
Cecile:

Yeah, it never happened EVER. And then I get hacked twice ina year.
  2:44pm
Cecile:

Sounds good, parq. Cast Jemaine Clement in any random role and get Bill Forsyth out of retirement to direct it, and I"m all in.
  2:50pm
tomB:

Cecile, I lived &breathed the 1st BG LP w Red Chair. Which LP originally contained "Sleep of No Dreaming"?
  2:52pm
Cecile:

None, as far as I know. That's a Porcupine Tree song from their album Signify
  2:57pm
Irene:

I think I'm gonna have to go back to the archive later and see what Iplayed. Brain not working too well today...

Thanks everybody!
  2:58pm
Martha in EC:

Loved the Balmorhea...and of course the ISB.
Checking out Choying Drolma and Steve Tibbetts too.
Thanks Irene :)
  3:00pm

  3:02pm
