Listener comments!

  12:06pm
Cecile:

Hola, Diane!
  12:06pm
bill:

best power-tool-into-the-brain tone ever
  12:14pm
bill:

Remember Throttlerod?
  12:18pm
Cecile:

You have Victim of Changes with you by Judas Priest? I"m feeling in the mood for something ponderous and epic.
  12:19pm
Josh RVA:

Makes me want to skip lunch and stay in the office
  12:19pm
Cecile:

ZOMG. My love is alive!
  12:23pm
Brian N:

Diane is Rock'n today Gary Wright
  12:24pm
Cecile:

this works for the dark and epic.
  12:24pm
hep:

god damn wright she is
  12:24pm
?:

Diane,- do have any STRAY? I lent my CD out months ago and I don't have it on my iPod. Jonesing for some STRAY.
  12:25pm
Desmond:

that was me with the Stray request- sorry- forgot to sign in.
  12:29pm
bill:

Wummups!
  12:30pm
Cecile:

nice grooph.
  12:31pm
still b/p:

Gladys Knight and the Pecs.
  12:33pm
BSI:

keep chumping!
  12:33pm
ben drinken:

it's not a twomore!!
  12:47pm
Matt:

Prong! nice
  12:57pm
Cecile:

Wow. That Killdozer song. I think that came out of my mom's mind
  1:17pm
Eddie from PTV:

Thanks Diane for that Batilus track. I love that split with Hallowed Butchery
  1:19pm
Cecile:

How were Agalloch?
  1:24pm
Kamikaze:

They were OK, I'm not a giant fan. Great crowd response, not my favorite. Best bands: YOB, Kvelertak, Whitehorse, Pentagram, Batillus
  1:27pm
dc pat:

thanks for the Pinetop--guy was 97!
  1:32pm
Eddie from PTV:

Pentagram played at SXSW? I missed that!!
  1:32pm
Chris from DC:

Wow, YOB, Whitehorse, and Pentagram, nice.
  1:35pm
dc pat:

so are people that attend SXSW "geeks"? According to the Wash Post, they are. When did rock and rollers become geeks?
  1:38pm
Kamikaze:

When do rock n rollers take their music news from the Washington Post?
  1:38pm
Eddie from PTV:

I've always been a geek :)
  1:38pm
Cecile:

I'm a huge fan, so that's great to hear.

dc pat, I hate to make a huge, sweeping, pundit-like generalization but anyone who is passionate about anything the least bit non-mainstream is a geek in the eyes of the mainstream media. It's depressing.
  1:38pm
Cecile:

Kamikaze, well-played.
  1:39pm
AnAnonymousParty:

I think anyone who doesn't subscribe to the main stream drive-by pop cultural icons, seeks out the rare and unusual and then, get this, actually discusses and debates its relative merits risks being classified as a 'geek'. We're just supposed to be consumers, you know.
  1:40pm
patrick:

Yay, Samael! As good as Stahlhammer, better than Eisbrecher, in the Rammstein minor leagues.
  1:46pm
Cecile:

I did watch the movie "Lemmy' this past weekend, though, and I realize how much a rock 'n' roller I am NOT.
  1:49pm
Cecile:

YES
  1:50pm
dc pat:

k, just checking...geeks. It's just funny that in the old days, even though everyone wanted to kill you because you were a "punker" at least they respected your authority on music and anything else cool really.
  1:50pm
dc pat:

good point Cecile. Whole other level..
  1:52pm
PKNY:

High on Fire! Time to worship the almighty riff!
  1:53pm
Cecile:

YES. My other favorite Jesus-doom group besides Trouble.

Hell, Dave Grohl is way more rock 'n' roll than I am.
  1:55pm
Cecile:

And I'm OK with that. I'm a fellow-traveller, not a fanatic.
  2:02pm
ben drinken:

how about being more rock and roll than Pat Boone. He had that whole album of heavy metal years ago.
  2:02pm
Chris from DC:

Great segue.
  2:03pm
Cheri Pi:

WooHoooo!!!
  2:03pm
Cecile:

Maybe slightly more, ben. Because I drink a little.
  2:05pm
Richard from Venezuela:

High on Fire's song, remember me the SLEEP reunion. Total masters.
  2:05pm
ben drinken:

more rock n roll than Gene Simmons, Ted Nugent and a list of other who don't drink or do drugs. That always amazes me when I hear about some hard core rocker that never drank.
  2:10pm
Cecile:

It's that gravitas you have Diane. :D

Yeah, but they make up for it with the multiple nookie partners, ben.
  2:15pm
glenn:

maybe back in the day, but i have a feeling ted nugent sleeps with his crossbow, and nobody / nothing else.
  2:16pm
Cecile:

this Aethenor sounds like something that would come out on a free jazz label.
  2:16pm
Cecile:

Nah, Glenn, he's still sorting out child support cases against him.
  2:17pm
glenn:

and shannon tweed is a good newfie girl, which is to say she'd de-testiculate gene if he messed around on her.
  2:17pm
glenn:

i'm not sure i'd want ted for a dad.
  2:17pm
jeff-m:

it's really great and now I see David Tibet is making an appearance too
  2:18pm
Cecile:

You and me both, glenn.
  2:20pm
glenn:

now lemmy, on the other hand. which makes me wonder - did nobody entertain the idea of lemmy as captain jack sparrow's dad? much better casting than keith richards.
  2:21pm
Cecile:

Yeah, and he would actually be able to say his lines. He'd take pride in it.
  2:33pm
bill:

Plus he can still play. Anybody see that Scorcese movie a couple years ago? All keith did was wander around the stage. When he finally did apply himself in the final number, he collapsed.
  2:34pm
glenn:

is it odd that i'm loading gilbert and sullivan into itunes and listening to alchemist at the same time?
  2:37pm
Cecile:

WOW this kver whatever has a super opening riff. Feels like classic 80s metal.
  2:38pm
Matt:

I completely kverconcur.
  2:53pm
Robert:

But even if the band got rowdy, at least you weren't at sea this time so you could escape.
  2:55pm
SF Spike:

Two shows where I made a mental note of the exits - GG Allin when he was throwing poo and Mayhem when they were threw a bloody cow head into the audience. Actually, GG Allin chased me out of the club. He died not long after.
  2:55pm
Kamikaze:

Like.
  2:58pm
ben drinken:

these guys sound a bit like the Hellacopters
  2:59pm
ben drinken:

the Boss Martians
  2:59pm
Cecile:

YES. Girlschool.
I would have liked to see mention of them in the Lemmy movie, but the title was Lemmy, not Motorhead...
  12:01pm
Dr Lorenz:

rock and roll!
