Listener comments!

we9rd
  3:10am
Sam:

Oh man, this'll make you lose your mind quick
  3:35am
Marmalade Kitty:

Good morning.. WTF :)
  3:41am
bennett4senate:

"WTF" - part of a well-balanced breakfast.
  3:42am
JCJ:

Loving this. The kind of unpredictable programming that makes WFMU indispensable.
  3:43am
Marmalade Kitty:

very complexed inanity
  3:44am
JCJ:

And I'm on the edge of my seat. Gripping story!
  3:46am
bennett4senate:

I love how their voices always sound exactly the same all the time, so they have to spell out their emotions - unsubtle opera
  3:48am
JCJ:

Yeah, autotune doesn't really allow for emotion in the resulting voice.
  3:50am
bennett4senate:

is this autotune? vocoder maybe? sounds too "played" on keys to be autotune
  3:53am
Marmalade Kitty:

maybe Bowie could play the part of happy Man
  3:54am
JCJ:

Autotune is essentially a phase vocoder but you may be right, it may be a more basic setup than the typical autotune.
  3:55am
bennett4senate:

lol, Bowie's all like "HaaaaaAAaaaapppppyyyMaaaaaaaaAAAANNN"
  3:57am
Marmalade Kitty:

which one was George? :)
  3:58am
bennett4senate:

pink dude w/ the fangs
  4:01am
JCJ:

The fangs are what makes him so scary. In spite of being pink.
  4:01am
Marmalade Kitty:

Bowie on prozac!
  4:05am
JCJ:

Among the bizarre details I liked was that they always said they were "on" Happyman's car instead of "in" the car. And when you look at the videos, yeah, that is pretty much accurate.
  4:08am
bennett4senate:

be sure to check out the later animated material from Ratboy Genius - he reveals himself as the puppet master, and also switches to 3d models of himself, Happyman, and the rest of the gang.... check out his youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/ratboygenius
  4:10am
Marmalade Kitty:

The Happy man descriptive comprehension work sheet was not possible
  4:10am
JCJ:

Nice. Definitely something I'm going to be digging into.
  4:15am
RobotBoy:

More late-night electronic goodness on WFMU. On another topic, I wish having multiple YouTube videos on one page was more friendly to my PC. Sure it's five years old, but that's no excuse. Get on it pronto Google!
  4:18am
bennett4senate:

sorry RobotBoy! I should have embedded smaller, I couldn't resist :(
  4:20am
RobotBoy:

Eh, it's been worse. Viewed pages with dozens of videos, that's just a nightmare.
  4:24am
Marmalade Kitty:

Has anybody not seen this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4zV4pJ8MwM
  4:25am
RobotBoy:

I've only just discovered Plastikman recently. Kind of reminds me of Underworld.
  4:33am
RobotBoy:

Defcon: nerd paradise. I liked the lecture on ISPs and the government: best friends forever.
  4:34am
bennett4senate:

yo, hit me with the good links to lectures RobotBoy! - bennett@wfmu.org ;D
  4:49am
RobotBoy:

Hmm, not sure I know that many. More of an aspiring nerd than anything. That lecture was good though, on the relation of ISPs to the government and your privacy. I remember the guy said AT&T was the worst, and T-Mobile was the "best" of the big ones. Well, AT&T is buying up T-Mobile.
  5:01am
Marmalade Kitty:

WTFMU.. Awesome Gil Scott-Heron & Jamie XX track!! great show dude
  5:07am
RobotBoy:

WTFMU... classic. I think you exceeded the number of callsign letters allowed though.
  5:17am
hamburger / london:

morning all - just got into work 2 hours late... @_@
  5:19am
RobotBoy:

WFMU gets a lot of new stuff, eh? Free schwag.
  5:21am
bennett4senate:

Well we share it - it goes to the library, not mah pockets ;) but yeah, tons of stuff - its Brian's job just to sift it down to just a manageable amount
  5:24am
RobotBoy:

Guess it's good business sense to send out a CD that only takes a buck or two to produce. Not that most artists on WFMU are aspiring for Billboard status or anything of course.
  5:27am
bennett4senate:

yeah totally - we get CDRs that people just record in their bedrooms, and if its interesting, it'll probably get some play - see Don Trust, for example
  5:28am
Marmalade Kitty:

cool! This is very 80's, in a good way, no?
  5:29am
RobotBoy:

Are you an 80s child too, Bennett?
  5:31am
RobotBoy:

80s are where it's at. Modern music, whether electronic, metal, punk (sort of, more late 70s there, same thing), rock, it all starts there. Guess some of that folk revivalism going on dates before that but w/e.
  5:31am
bennett4senate:

yeah for sure, I'm an '80s Baby'!
  5:33am
RobotBoy:

I guess to be technical some of the metal trends, the extreme stuff like black metal and whatever, also comes from the 90s. Whateva, 80s 4 life.
  5:35am
RobotBoy:

If you told me that Doctor's Cat track was Ceephax Acid Crew, I wouldn't know any better.
  5:36am
bennett4senate:

yeah man, Italo Disco sewed some serious seeds. Seen!
  5:41am
RobotBoy:

It's crazy how much new electronic music could pass for 80s music. I don't find most of it particularly derivative either, at least the stuff I'm hearing. Most of it's more inspired than that post-punk/garage revival that was going on in rock recently.
  5:52am
Meghan:

You are blowing my mind Bennett! No Twin Peaks, No 80's in the original? God, I am old.....
  5:55am
RobotBoy:

Remember this hottie from Twin Peaks? http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kriuzjsLc51qznczoo1_500.png
  5:56am
bennett4senate:

tried watching Twin Peaks the other day, it was so slow-moving... i took a phone call from a friend, he said that it would help if I was more stoned... so maybe I try again under proper mindstate
  5:57am
RobotBoy:

The Truth Is Out There. I actually haven't seen Twin Peaks. I like Lynch though. He recently put out a few tracks. Good Day Today is a good'un.
  6:00am
Meghan:

It was my saving grace in high school. I loved Audrey. She was crazy. Man..... I own the box set of it. Though, it did get bad at the end....
  6:00am
RobotBoy:

Good show Bennett. Seems WFMU has the best stuff on in the early morning, I'll be tunin' in again.
  6:00am
bennett4senate:

dunno if they had weed back when you were watching Twin Peaks Meghan ;)
