Cheri Pi:

Good Morning WFMU-land!
Who are the Paperhead? My ears keep perking up when I hear them.
  9:07am
jason:

mornin' Cheri Pi!

The Paperhead are some psychedelic teenagers from nashville
  9:12am
Brian in UK:

Afternoon from hot UK. I think you are easing us in gently today, give us a sense of warm zen then go for the jug. Won't we love it.
  9:13am
Cheri Pi:

Cool-I'll have to order their records.
  9:14am
pierre:

Bonjour Jason !
  9:22am
Cheri Pi:

  9:29am
yair Yona from tel aviv:

Hello everyone
  9:29am
Cheri Pi:

Hi Postman Paul! Hi Parq!
  9:30am
Brian in UK:

Just coming up by the sound of it. Hello Brighton. I think we must always look to improve. Tomorrow never comes!
  9:30am
dc pat:

no HTML is coming up at all.
  9:30am
jason:

you're right PMP, it's only gonna get worse from here. But I'm glad we're all in this together, thanks for joining on this morning's Talk's Cheap!
  9:31am
annie:

yay!
  9:32am
jason:

  9:34am
Brian in UK:

iTunes has never let me down...yet.
  9:34am
Cheri Pi:

I'm using F4-I hate it, what are we looking for?
  9:35am
still b/p:

My FF 4.0 is okay on this site, except, as it has done since recent installation of the version, it's still putting the "more comments" arrow at the bottom of the stack even when they ain't no mo' there.
  9:37am
pierre:

hi postmanpaul (":
i second Brian in the Uk,especially for the "yet" part.

FAKE Annie:

Should I turn your show off Jason and listen to iTunes? Or should I stick around and tell you all about what my cow did the other day?
  9:44am
Cecile:

Love the colors, Jason!
  9:45am
annie:

hehe... i love my winamp...
hey you faker, that's an ex-cow to you.
  9:45am
Cecile:

FAKE Annie: You're hardly "I Can't Believe It's Not Annie."
  9:45am
Cecile:

Good morning, REAL annie.
  9:46am
jason:

hey FAKE that's not very nice...your IP addy is showing

Glad you like these colors Cecile!
  9:46am
annie:

  9:46am
Cecile:

Very uplifting.
  9:47am
FAKE Annie:

  9:47am

  9:53am
FAKE Annie:

my bow moved to Moo Jersey and I am sad
  9:54am
FAKE Annie:

Whoops tee-hee I didn't know I had a bow cow :) But I still miss her
  9:55am
Cecile:

Annie, how is your Isa?
  9:55am
Cecile:

I know this is a leftfield request, but somthing off Bubba Sparxxx's Deliverance would be cool. Timba sampled tons of historical black college bands for that.
  9:56am
postmanpaul (":

@ jason - always a pleasure mate. the shows a trip today. 'travelled to baraka' was delightful.
  9:56am
FAKE Annie:

The last thing my cow sent me was her report card - it was Grade A!
  9:57am
Cecile:

I would be disappointed. I'd be holding out for USDA choice.
  9:57am
Cheri Pi:

Annie-is your play list on FMA now?
  9:57am
annie:

cecile, as far as i know isa is fine... i figure no news is good news..
  9:58am
annie:

not yet, i can do that next.. i'm still experimenting.. i tried to attach my photo, but i think it didn't take, i'll find out when i log back in
  10:00am
FAKE Annie:

Cecile, thank you for understanding my pain. My cow let me down. She said she went to Moo Jersey to study but I have not herd from her. Boo hoo she has made the rest of her family the laughing stock of the farm.
  10:01am
Cecile:

what? she isn't with you?
  10:02am
annie:

no cecile, i had to leave her behind.. she has a huge playground of rivers, lakes, fields.... she's happy.. but i miss the hell out of her.
  10:03am
Cecile:

That is bittersweet, but I'm glad she's in a good place.

FAKE annie, that sounds like an udderly terrible situation.
  10:05am
annie:

(fit in whatever emoticon goes with "ah me")
  10:07am
FAKE Annie:

Well I have put a lot of thought into it, and I guess if I had to sum it up here on the talk's cheap playlist comment thread I would say (and I agree with Cecile the new colors are great but I don't know why you changed them Jason without taking a poll?) But anyways, the final thing I have to say is this: I hope you were amoosed.
  10:08am
pierre:

ahahahahaha what a serious drug voice
  10:09am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

people are making fun of each other here? I want IN!

Somebody -- at this point, I can't even remember who -- played "Saving It Up for Larry" earlier this week, and now the damn thing is stuck in my head. Yeesh. Hoping something really catchy will be played this morning.

Cheri Pi:

This Los Chicharrons is very excellent too. Whistle!!
  10:31am
Brian in UK:

Parq you were here earlier, the first 25 minutes were catchier than Working Girls. You're having a larf.
  10:31am
annie:

fantastic!!!
  10:33am
Parq:

Yeh, Bri, sometimes musical memories are like land mines. Soemthng willy nilly triggers a thought about a particular song and blammo, it's wormed into your brain for the rest of the day.
  10:34am
Carmichael:

Good morning, Jason and Woof-Mooers. Purple & Black ...
  10:34am
coelacanth:

Jason- seriously, did you play that at the "wrong" speed,or did they actually master it like that?
  10:35am
still b/p:

Rounds of chicha for everyone!
Just got a message that says an ATM card good for withdrawal of $315,810 will be sent to me by the UN, as soon as I cover the $245 delivery cost. I can take out a maximum of $5000 a day, so I'm good for the weekend.
  10:36am
annie:

well, unfortunately i have to go do things away from the radio.. b/p: partay!
  10:36am
jason:

the Purple Chicha comp is all slowed down peruvian cumbia, go download it!
  10:38am
real dc pat fc:

one reason I don't really like pop music is that I have a huge problem with tunes getting lodged in my head--and for a tune-writer, that's a problem. I once spent a week at the beach not hearing any music, my brain was completely clean, and then right before we left, my stupid bro-in-law turned on a radio he found: Here Comes the Sun was on....I could have killed him.
  10:39am
coelacanth:

Wow!...well it sounded good. i just knew it wasn't the way it was played. Thanks.
  10:40am
coelacanth:

FMA?
  10:42am
Brian in UK:

Parq, know exactly what you mean, I bought a record last year and flashedback best part of 30 years on one track. Was that me or the record?
  10:43am
glenn:

i never get spam. i feel so........unfulfilled, somehow.
  10:44am
hamburger / london:

johnny cash - hey porter / gives me the smell of warm leather in a dusty car that's been in the sun for a while from when I was 8 years old everytime I hear it :)
  10:45am
Brian in UK:

The music of central & eastern Africa seems to have a more melodic lilt than the Anglo/Francofile westernside. Franco/Four Brothers.
  10:46am
Brian in UK:

@ glenn want to increase the size of your jokes to impress your friends?
  10:47am
real dc pat fc:

I'm Not In Love by 10cc takes me back to being 8 or 9, sitting in the back of my parents huge station wagon, drinking Mountain Dew, and eating Pringles.
  10:47am
Carmichael:

Hey Brian, listen to Give the Drummer Some tomorrow. Doug plays great African Jazz!
  10:48am
real dc pat fc:

Ike is going to kill me for that last sentence...
  10:49am
don:

DC -- was on a similar tip, but combos most of the time.... "it's because!"
  10:50am
Carmichael:

Pat, I was a junior in HS when that came out. Great song, great production. I had the pleasure of meeting Eric Stewart once, when we were both working on a project with a mutual friend. Sharp as a tack.
  10:51am
still b/p:

"Anyone who does not use the Oxford comma is a fool, a brigand, or a communist."
Google "in praise of the Oxford comma" and sift the sentiments.
  10:51am
quinn:

whoa i thought you were fading the telebossa song into demetrio stratos... trippy!
  10:53am
Cecile:

Oxford comma, good name for a band.
  10:54am
real dc pat fc:

oh yeah, Combos! I loved those things until I ate too many and felt like boking...

Man, Carm. You rub elbows w/ some pretty interesting people
  10:55am
Cecile:

Carm, all the guys in 10cc were big talents. That's probably why the original lineup imploded.
  10:59am
Brian in UK:

Carmichael. I have been know to listen to the master, thanks. Graham Gouldman was on the TV here recently in a threeway singer/guitar show with Fran Healy & Ron Sexsmith. Mr G did write some belters.
  11:00am
Brian in UK:

Wasn't I'm Not in Love a rip of She's Gone by Hall & Oates?
  11:01am
Cheri Pi:

Oh it's back to "Oozey peelers" did they proffer an explanation for this Jason?
  11:04am
still b/p:

Never peel a loaded Uzi.
  11:10am
Cecile:

I like Me and the Boys.
  11:11am
Cheri Pi:

I think I wanted to like NRBQ-but found that I really couldn't.
Still open to trying though.
  11:12am
Deeeeeeeeeeee:

WAoohh 11:11

NRBQ did a record with Carl Perkins you might dig.

  11:14am
Cecile:

Great band. Haven't been following them a lot of late, though.

  11:16am
glenn:

someday my prints will come.
  11:16am
coelacanth:

Hey i forgot to say something when i passed the $180 mark. Is it too late to name something? i want that puddle in the basement...or the tangle of wires.
  11:19am
coelacanth:

I'll check out NRBQ some more...i'm bored when-i think it's Bob Brainen- plays them....but it sounds like there's alt NRBQ.
  11:19am
Cecile:

thanks for the shout-out, jason!
  11:20am
Deeeeeeeeeeee:

An Irishman walks out of a bar..
  11:20am
Das:

@ Glenn Haha, that joke was just bad enough
  11:23am
Carmichael:

UK Brian, I would have loved to see that show. Gouldman's rather clever with the turn of a phrase, yeah? What's it called?
  11:23am
real dc pat fc:

HEY!
  11:25am
glenn:

one thing about nrbq, they're all great musicians, so maybe they appeal more to those who play as well. just a thought.
  11:26am

there wolf, there castle
  11:28am
Brian in UK:

@ Cheri Pi I'm totally with you on NRBQ.

@ glenn standards have not dropped or was that gone up. Top man.

@ Carmichael I am looking for the link. Sometimes you can only see it in the UK. Will come back 10/4
  11:29am
Cecile:

they have a sense of whimsy that sometimes rubs people the wrong way.

Coel, NRBQ have noisy, Sun-ra like moments. And their sloppier covers are cool, like their "Shake, Rattle and Roll."
  11:34am
Brian in UK:

Carmichael This is the best I can find hope the clips workhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00z2rc1
  11:34am
coelacanth:

What the hell!..After years of thinking i'd never go out of my way to hear them, i'm actually intrigued.
  11:38am
Carmichael:

I kinda like NRBQ myself, but I'm looking at them as a musician. The sheer width and breadth of their catalog is unprecedented.
  11:38am
Cheri Pi:

@coelacanth @cecile-I'm ready to experience this with a fresh perspective. Bob Brainen-bring it.
  11:39am
glenn:

nrbq with skeeter davis - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tm0IKZHCwbA
  11:44am
Cecile:

I would also see if there is another show where they are juxaposed against less-catchy music. Some of my friends in the 80s who would listen to the most frighening free jazz just adored the Q because they also had an improvising spirit - although it was way more melodic.
  11:46am
glenn:

my just formed opinion - nrbq is commander cody plus sun ra.
  11:53am
glenn:

and this is funny - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQbtepB_O2Y&feature=related
  11:56am
coelacanth:

Thanks Jason
  12:00pm
coelacanth:

glenn that was great!

aaron in chicago:

i was eating at an outdoor restaurant in yogya once when an entire band (with drumset) arrived, sat down next to me, and played "take me home country roads"

That does it for me, too. Bye
