Wed. 4/27/11 3:32pm Matt from Springfield:

@Looms: For the most part, this is the best part!
@Pierre: I don't follow baseball either, but it's still funny the way this guy is angry.

alcohol and vehemence usually adds up to something like this
  Wed. 4/27/11 3:32pm BSI:

not knowing [bleep] about baseball makes this six million times funnier....

  Wed. 4/27/11 3:38pm Duffus:

Yes covered this.
  Wed. 4/27/11 3:38pm Lizardner Dave:

Something to do with fish, I bet. You know, how fish always die in fives like celebrities die in threes.
  Wed. 4/27/11 3:39pm still b/p:

But, arithmetic aside, did the Jackson Pollock Trio get a "spattering" of applause?
Wed. 4/27/11 3:39pm Phoebe and Poly:

@Liz: We're waiting.
  Wed. 4/27/11 3:40pm jaycjay:

@Listener Schned, The Indians' Dolan is Larry, he's MSG's Charles' brother... and James' uncle. So not the same organization, but they're related.

The porn for the deaf readings.
  Wed. 4/27/11 3:47pm Looms:

Re: Dan and Joel:

From almost two and a half years before their "fame", a quirky commentary on the original ad. Amusing stuff on this blog too for those of you REALLY into radio:
"I Listen To Too Much Newsradio: Pedantic nitpicks about ads, anchors and whatever else modulates my amplitude"
Wed. 4/27/11 4:25pm Matt from Springfield:

"Pictured above, by the way, is not Joel Clark. It’s Dan Tullis, the “host” of the SelectQuote radio spots. You may remember him from his recurring role as Officer Dan on Married With Children, among other things. It turns out he’s also an acclaimed baritone who has appeared in several musicals."

Dan Tullis, Jr. (credited as Dan Tullis) is an American actor most notable for his role as Officer Dan on the sitcom Married... with Children. He has also appeared in other shows such as The District, Home Improvement, 227 and Rachel Gunn, R.N..

Tullis is currently serving as a radio and television spokesman for Select Quote Insurance, a life insurance company. Tullis identifies himself by name at the start of each ad so as to avoid confusion with Dennis Haysbert, a spokesman for another insurance carrier.

@Mike: Check the top of the comments. Are you using Advanced Mode? That's the better one to use. Even in Basic it's always refreshed for me without problem. (But in Basic it throws you all the way back to the top every time. Not rec'd!)
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:48pm Gecko:

Check with the Martin Agency on that, stereareeno. They think they invented me in 1999, and long ago filed the trademark portfolio stating that.
Wed. 4/27/11 4:49pm Matt from Springfield:

@rrg: And I suppose this Nursing Home is asking me for computer help now?
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:50pm glenn:

did you sponsor the comment board? maybe your check got lost in the mail.
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:50pm Nursing Home:

Well, let's just say that my VHS has been blinking 12:00 since 1985.
Wed. 4/27/11 4:51pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Zing!
Btw, have you ever heard Coeur de Pirate on CBC 3? She evidently won a CBC 3 "Bucky" Award from listener voting.
Wed. 4/27/11 4:52pm Matt from Springfield:

@Nursing Home: I was going to ask if you ever programmed that VCR, even to tape a Matlock rerun...I guess that's a bridge to far.
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:53pm glenn:

i have not. i don't listen to 3 very much, like never, actually. i'm a 1 kinda guy.
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:53pm yayson:

  Wed. 4/27/11 4:53pm Joe Bacon:

Irwin has no ketchup or salsa? I'm weeping...
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:53pm Nursing Home:

duh. i don't even know who my kids are at this point.
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:55pm Gamera:

Anyone know the name of the neat dub-jazz-electronic piece that Irwin uses as a soundbed?
Wed. 4/27/11 4:55pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: I only listen occasionally to 3, you're in the same boat then...you mentioned it before, but I had thought you listened to 3 more freq than myself.
Wed. 4/27/11 4:56pm Matt from Springfield:

Gypsy Rose Lee!
This one is innuendo filled! More than half of this stuff would STILL be considered dirty!
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:56pm Irwin:

@Gamera: "RISD" by Marco Benevento
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:56pm Kramer:

  Wed. 4/27/11 4:57pm pierre:

  Wed. 4/27/11 4:57pm glenn:

between wfmu, and cbc 1 and the baseball games on the radio every night, my listening time is pretty much chock a block.
Wed. 4/27/11 4:58pm Matt from Springfield:

The White Album has been very close to me from the time I was a teen, and I like this cover by Ian as well.

But HOW into Amanda am I that I was actually hoping this was leading in to another Amanda song with a White Album backing track?!
  Wed. 4/27/11 4:59pm Gamera:

Thanks, Irwin. Off to a a late lunch...on the Coit Tower in SF.
Wed. 4/27/11 5:00pm Matt from Springfield:

Wed. 4/27/11 5:02pm Gypsy Rose Lee:

Wed. 4/27/11 5:02pm Gypsy Rose Lee:

One foot WHAT?!?!?!?!
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:03pm AnAnonymousParty:

  Wed. 4/27/11 5:10pm Listener Terry:

@AnAnonymousParty: I heard you used to enrage the Bantams.
Wed. 4/27/11 5:12pm Matt from Springfield:

If those dice weren't so cheap, I could really enjoy cheating to Scrabbopoly. At least the slide whistle is in good shape--you can use even after the game!
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:13pm rst-wiley:

The track from last week - remixed.
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:13pm Joe Bacon:

Wow, is this a case where Atlas Shagged?
Wed. 4/27/11 5:13pm Matt from Springfield:

Der Christer Schytts brings us a terrifying glimpse of our self-induced apocalyptic future.
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:14pm Ayn Rand:

Buy insurance. Or don't. It's entirely up to you. Just do't expect anyone else to fix it for you later.
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:19pm rrg:

Wed. 4/27/11 5:27pm Matt from Springfield:

I definitely would have tried to see the Scala Choir in DC if I had known--so many great bands and musical acts out there, so little publicity for the truly good ones.
Wed. 4/27/11 5:31pm Matt from Springfield:

Ahh, lovely Japanese steel drums.
Wed. 4/27/11 5:32pm Matt from Springfield:

My steeldrum-playing uncle just got a heads up on Akiho.
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:46pm AnAnonymousParty:

Can we team up Andy Akiho with Jake Shimabukuro? Like an alternate universe Bela Fleck group?

Fond memories of the 60s, when you could write a song about damn near anything.
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:51pm Younger Generation:

@rrg: And what's a dial? Like the soap, or the saved contact you push to call someone?
Wed. 4/27/11 5:52pm Matt from Springfield:

@rrg: You've been listening to Irwin at least as long as I have, if you get the PSBMW ref!
@AAP: Damn right!
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:52pm rrg:

This is great. I don't think Irwin's played Scala since that interview was aired last year.
Wed. 4/27/11 5:53pm Matt from Springfield:

Double Scala Choir Wednesday! Great decision Irwin!

  Wed. 4/27/11 5:53pm David:

Scala choir are awesome. They ain't no AMANDA, but....... ;)
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:54pm Robert:

Wed. 4/27/11 5:54pm Matt from Springfield:

Double Rubin as well! Rubin To The Max!
Wed. 4/27/11 5:55pm Matt from Springfield:

@Robert: You got a problem with our school's choir, eh??
  Wed. 4/27/11 5:56pm David:

Great show Irwin! A bit of everything today!
  Wed. 4/27/11 6:05pm Robert:

No problem, Mr. Langley; I just feel a little bad about children singing adult-themed songs.
