M.A.K.U Sound System

Hear this show now: Pop-up listen Pop-up player! | Add or read comments

M.A.K.U Sound System conjures a cathartic cocktail of Colombian traditions and raw rock energy propelled by a full-throttle percussive assault. Can WFMU's Studio B can contain M.A.K.U's unbridled musical power? Listen to tonight's live set to find out!

M.A.K.U released its debut cd last summer, Vamos Bien, and the band is at work on its second cd now.

M.A.K.U is looking for financial support for the band's first trip to Colombia later this summer. If you think you might be able to help - or know someone else who might - contact M.A.K.U's manager Viviana, MAKUsoundsystem AT gmail DOT com or via facebook (link below).

Closer to home, you can experience the M.A.K.U onslaught live at Spike Hill, 184 Bedford Ave (at North 7th St) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn Thursday June 2 at 11 pm.

M.A.K.U will also play a set outdoors in front of Joe's Pub, 425 Lafayette on Tuesday June 21 at around 5 pm. It's part of Make Music NY - the annual summer solstice day of music in New York. (There are similar happenings in other cities - in fact the concept originated in France.) Hundreds of musical events will take place outdoors and indoors all around the city all day and evening on solstice day, June 21.

Facebook is probably the best place to follow the band: http://www.facebook.com/makusoundsystem

Massive thanks to our illustrious engineer Scott Konzelmann (of Chop Shop and Generator fame) and our top notch assistant Jake Aron.
