Frank - I'm not sure if you know this, but during the 70's over here in the uk, Skinheads (Mods gone bad...) had a particular fascination for prescription amphetamine. Those who over-indulged were commonly referred to as being 'blocked'. And you won't find that definition for the word 'blockhead' in wikipedia Frank.
