Listener comments!

  9:01am ndbob:

morning doug and everyone
  9:02am annie:

wow, 9am already!!!
  9:03am lyd:

hola! it's lovely today. i'm hearing bluegrass, is that the right stream?
  9:04am ndbob:

this is from around 1928 I'd guess
  9:06am annie:

hhmm i'm hearing brass and jazz
  9:07am Maggie in Rock Tavern:

I'm hearing something Asian. ?!?!
  9:08am lyd:

si, son de oriente
  9:08am Drummer Some:

Just a wee moment!
  9:13am lil' drummer some:

Hey everyone!
  9:14am ndbob:

hi there!
  9:16am listener james from westwood:

just in time for those funky whitefield bros! morning all and welcome to friday, all!
  9:18am seang:

Howdy folks--I went to see Swamp Dogg last night--a great man
  9:18am Drummer Some:

Hello Maggie, Lyd, LJFW, ndbob and Annie! How wonderfully surreal for me. Hopefully nothing out of the ordinary for you.
  9:19am ndbob:

there were incredible thunderstorms here last night - power went out for a while - hello james!

where did you see him sean?
  9:20am seang:

He was playing at Johnny D's in Somerville, MA
  9:22am listener james from westwood:

morning doug and ndbob!

the day nothing is out of the ordinary for me, check my pulse!
  9:23am ndbob:

ah - i heard mark francis on wmbr giving away tickets to that
  9:23am listener james from westwood:

signal sounds loud and clear on this side of the interwebs.
  9:27am Parq:

This is adorable -- we can *hear* her eyes rolling.
  9:28am Parq:

Way-dug that Whitefield Bros, by the way.
  9:28am Drummer Some:

Parq, if eye-rolling were an Olympic sport.... Gold, baby, gold.
  9:29am Merv:

Seems her musical tastes have channeled the great Andy Breckman...
  9:32am listener james from westwood:

If she starts referring to the Record Fair as the lonely hippie parade, we'll know her Breckmanization is complete.
  9:34am lil' drummer some:

I'm right here you know."GOLD, BABY, GOLD?!"
  9:36am Drummer Some:

OK, 30 minutes in and I'm already in trouble.
  9:37am still b/p:

Wasn't expecting a show. I thought you was headed downeast already to get some of that double-cold saltwater therapy.
  9:38am ndbob:

lol
  9:38am Merv:

@lil' drummer - Is your Dad going to let you pick some songs, or will he be playing the dictator this morning?
  9:38am lil' drummer some:

P.S. Parq, watch the adorable stuff DON'T get on my bad side...
  9:40am jill:

Good morning L'il Drummer and listeners
  9:40am lil' drummer some:

daddy dictator
  9:41am ndbob:

morning jill!
  9:42am Merv:

Bummer... Is he embarrassed of the music you listen to?
  9:43am listener m:

good morning all! anyone know much about Bombino who is playing at Le Poisson Rouge tonight?
  9:44am Drummer Some:

Merv, she usually programs a set when she comes on the show, but today is "unusual." Plus this program is a Katie Perry/Taylor Swift-free zone. (When she was younger, she liked the Beatles. At least.) Does that answer your question?
  9:44am lil' drummer some:

He just doesn't GET it, Merv. :-(
  9:45am monica:

ahoy, big drummer some and lil'drummer some! welcome back to the mothership. permission to come onboard.
  9:46am still b/p:

I liked the Bombino introduction I got on FMU. Worth seeing, I think.
  9:47am ndbob:

i'm not a big fan of Katie Perry or Taylor Swift, but hey I did buy the first two Miley Cyrus CD's.
  9:47am Drummer Some:

Hey Monica! Permission uber-granted.
  9:48am lil' drummer some:

But not without my say-so...sure.
  9:48am Merv:

Hehehe... What is it about the Beatles? (Boy, what a dumb question...) My daughter's preference is Miranda Cosgrove, although the fact that I'm the only one who can put music on her iPod helps keep a steady stream of Beatles/Beach Boys/Neil Young going...
  9:49am lil' drummer some:

At least she has an iPod!
  9:51am Merv:

Yikes, no iPod? Drummer, really...
  9:51am annie:

maine..... sweet... what city?
  9:54am Drummer Some:

Annie, we have a cabin on the west side of Deer Isle.
  9:55am Drummer Some:

That is, we are renting a cabin on Deer Isle.
  9:55am Amanda:

Hi Doug and li'l drummer! Appreciate hearing this whole track for a change. Hope you guys are having a blast in studio B.
  9:56am Parq:

DrumSum (the big one), this is all right on schedule. All girls go through a Beatles phase during grade school, and then they are seduced by the weenie-pop sound as pre-teens. My kid liked Averill Levigne at that age -- she's in Ireland now or she would kill me for revealing it.
  9:56am Drummer Some:

Lincoln and Jessie gave me an iPod for my birthday three years ago and I've never touched it. (Shhhh.)
  9:57am Merv:

Perfect, you can give it back to her then... :)
  9:57am Bob:

A few weeks ago I was watching an early Fellini movie that I hadn't heard of before on Netflix streaming (I Vitelloni), and when the little town had their big party, what was the music? Give The Drummer Some bed music!
  9:57am lil' drummer some:

Hi Amanda!
  9:57am Parq:

DrumSum (the little one), were I there, I would pass you a box of chocolate Pocky as a peace offering.
  10:00am ndbob:

hi amanda
  10:00am Fiveash:

Hey Doug! My Mom lives on Isle au Haut! Going later this summer... have fun up there!
  10:02am Drummer Some:

Bob, yes that's from "The Clowns." DJ Bob Rixon has used that Nino Rota music as an opener.

Hey Fiveash! Never been to Isle au Haut, but I remember reading about the lobstermen there getting into big battles a few years ago.
  10:02am annie:

oh ... sweet!! very very sweet.. wave at blue hill peninsula for me.. you gotta take her to naskeag, just south of brooklin.. that's where i was living ( have some stuff still stored there, i think)
  10:02am annie:

i absolutely love isle au haut...
  10:04am still b/p:

There's romance there, too -- Friends of mine got engaged a couple of weeks ago while staying at one of the lean-tos on Isle Au Haut.
  10:05am Leigh:

Howdy Drummersomes
  10:06am ndbob:

hi leigh
  10:06am listener james from westwood:

ahhh, there's some thunderball-sounding stuff right there.
  10:07am listener james from westwood:

welcome, all who've arrived! grab a spot on the lawn and spread your picnic blankets!
  10:07am Drummer Some:

Hiya Leigh!
  10:08am lil' drummer some:

Howdy!
  10:10am Listener Bill:

I like this Ghetto Brothers stuff.
  10:19am Jessibird:

What a great way to start my day off. Love the selections this morning. And very pleasant to have another personable host.
  10:20am ndbob:

morning jessi!
  10:21am listener james from westwood:

happy friday, jessi!
  10:26am Drummer Some:

Hi Jessibird!

Listener Bill, did you see this back cover from the Ghetto Brother's LP:

http://blogfiles.wfmu.org/DS/Mining/Vol101-150/Vol114/fuerza.jpg
  10:29am Jessibird:

Happy Friday, ndbob, james, DrumSome, DrumSome2, and all! Sorry, DrumSome2, didn't quite catch your name...is it Lincoln?
  10:32am Jessibird:

Doug, thanks for playing Senor 007 this morning. Might be my favorite new-to-me album this year.
  10:33am Drummer Some:

It is Lincoln. She has escaped to the live music room Netflix on the laptop.
  10:36am jill:

you mean she didn't like all of this "eeeh-ahhwww-waaaheee" music? Kids today!
  10:39am Listener Bill:

@DrummerSome That cover is very cool! Great sentiments. I see that the vinyl is on sale at Amazon for $60.
  10:40am Drummer Some:

Actually, it's because she's freezing. There is an AC blasting in the studio. (Plus she's not so much into the eeeh-ahhwww-waaaheee music.)
  10:44am Jessibird:

I have to confess that I don't feel quite ready for eeeh-ahhwww-waaaheee this early in the morning either, but i just let it massage my brain on the assumption that it's good for me.
  10:45am Listener Bill:

eeeh-ahhwww-waaaheee is my favorite music!
  10:45am Jessibird:

Now this Mra track I dig.
  10:50am Lisa from Brooklyn:

Hi to LDS and LDS2 (if you come back). Baseball Zach's mom, if you recall. Z would be jealous you're on the air! Brooklyn says Howdy! Z's into Peter Gene Hernandez (aka Bruno Mars) and such ilk, but plays Neil Young on his guitar, so it's not too bad!
  10:51am Lisa from Brooklyn:

That's GDS and GDS2!
  10:56am ndbob:

this one is great doug
  10:56am still b/p:

Flatulence and Laughter is a song from Mary Poppins, isn't it?
  10:57am Drummer Some:

Hi Lisa! Even though he once voted for Reagan, you can't go wrong with Neil.
  11:00am Carmichael:

Hiya Doug, what's up?
  11:01am annie:

morning carm!!!
  11:01am listener james from westwood:

kishore! the clown prince of playback!
  11:02am listener james from westwood:

heya carmichael!
  11:03am Jessibird:

Kishore is panting. Is he just out of breath from singing so enthusiastically, or does it mean something?
  11:03am Carmichael:

Hi Annie & James! How's this Friday treating you?
  11:03am ndbob:

hi carmichael
  11:04am Jessibird:

I'm impressed by the laughing trumpet.
  11:05am listener james from westwood:

it's treating me quite nicely so far, thanks! hope yours and everyone's are unfolding sweetly too!
  11:06am Drummer Some:

Carm!
  11:07am Drummer Some:

I'm not going to talk over this amazing number ("Tough Tip") for once.
  11:07am Jessibird:

Doug, this is ducky.
  11:08am annie:

doing pretty well carm, considering.. yup.. life is good
  11:08am Carmichael:

Hi Bob! Doug, I still owe you a couple of MP3s to buttress my argument about that Curtis Mayfield song last week. I'll shoot 'em to ya this weekend.
  11:10am annie:

well, unfortunately i have to cut out early to mop and go get lunch.... great show, doug and thanks for the shotgun appearance, lincoln!!
  11:17am Jessibird:

So that's what a music bed is. I was googling Bob's phrase "bed music" and not figuring it out.
  11:23am monica:

damn, she's got your number!!!
  11:23am Listener Bill:

She's right. Everything in the media world is out to get you. Lincoln's right.
  11:26am lil' drummer some:

You bet I am! How is everybody out there?
  11:27am Carmichael:

HI, Little Drummer Girl!
  11:29am ndbob:

  11:36am lil' drummer some:
