  6:41am
T-Zero:

re: heat... Finally caught a break this morning. It's 74(23c) as opposed to the 108(42c). Of course it's rainging and dark. Once the sun comes up we're expecting it to be back to 103(39c).

Ohhh. Fad Gadget. Now you're channeling my past. ;-)
  6:44am
fred von helsing:

Commander Meghan! The Way-Back Machine can't take too much more of this abuse! :)

  6:50am
T-Zero:

  6:51am
listener james from westwood:

i remember giving my copy of the album to girl i was interested in about 1000 years ago bc she was a massive depeche fan.
  6:52am
T-Zero:

Oh! My Bloody Valentine always makes me think of Klaus Nomi
  6:52am
listener james from westwood:

t-zero, maybe we were both thinking of w00tstock, which went on at comicon this weekend. :D
  6:53am
T-Zero:

Not this track, of course, just the phrase itself
  6:53am
listener james from westwood:

there's never a bad time for some nomi.
  6:55am
fred von helsing:

back in the day.. back in the 80s.. this music was utterly abominable.. but after a decade or three.. well hey it's slathered in ironic po-mo goodness :)
  6:55am
T-Zero:

Other than for knowing Prism comics had a display, I've not followed much of what's at comicon this year.
  6:59am
T-Zero:

Oh. Bauhaus, but don't think I remember Ash otherwise. Well, and Love and Rockets, but not on his own.
  7:01am
listener james from westwood:

what the hell was that barista on?! iced tea w milk & sugar?!

  7:07am
Meghan:

Hey there Dum Dum..... It does have caffeine... but not the wake up kick!
  7:08am
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

  7:09am

  7:11am
Elisa:

I live near Venice, Italy.
  7:11am
Meghan:

Nope, no theme...... not on my fill in's at least! It's my break!

Elisa, it's a virtual trip, but thank you! Maybe when I finally get a vacation that can happen!
  7:13am
Elisa:

oops, I was half listening to you cause I was thinking about boy...my bad.

You never know right? BTW, lovely music, very nice. Thank you.
  7:14am
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

That's OK. You're still the best.
  7:16am
Meghan:

Exactly Elisa! I wish I was actually getting on a plane and traveling around the world! That would be amazing!

*blushes*.... thanks Dum Dum...
  7:16am
Elisa:

So I was wondering has anyone ever slept over at WFMU? I think it would be an incredible experience sleeping while DJs play music...many lovely dreams for sure.
  7:17am
fred von helsing:

The music! I can feel it working! My hair is achieving lift-off!
  7:17am
Elisa:

@ fred von helsing

Nice.
  7:17am
Richard from Venezuela:

Meghan. Send you the link to dowload the song via wfmu email or twitter?
  7:19am
Meghan:

Oh there has been many a sleep over at the station. It's called DJ's passing out after or before their shifts. And sadly it's not the easiest. I was asleep here once before my shift during the marathon. It was not a good sleep.....

Either way Richard..... you can send it to me direct at underwater@wfmu.org Thanks!
  7:19am
T-Zero:

Ah. Julian Cope. Something for HotRod ;-)
  7:25am

  7:58am
Chuck:

I came in on that Voice of the Beehive song and LOVED it. Just located a "Best of" from them on captaincrawl. Sweet!
  7:59am
fred von helsing:

a DJ gig - all riot grrrl, all angry L-words, all screaming females - does this name work? - "courtney love's sunday c#ntday"
  8:03am
Jeff p:

Your husband is an idiot.
  8:04am
Chuck:

I just go alphabetical...
  8:05am
dirty old man:

Careful Meghan, the walls have ears.
  8:06am
Jeff p:

  8:08am
Chuck:

  8:08am
Chuck:

Did I hook you up with this, Meg? I see to remember doing so...
  8:09am
Chuck:

see = seem
  8:09am
Meghan:

I recall it around the same time.... Not sure if it was from your friend's mix or I found it and shared it in the room....
  8:11am
Chuck:

Oh, I remember now. I found and downloaded just this song and liked it so much I bought the whole CD. Which is a great recording!
  8:13am
Chuck:

Of course, the search for new and wonderful music is a never ending affair...
  8:15am
Dave B:

music is the best.
  8:19am
fred von helsing:

found a few bands to hunt down, thank you meghan!
  8:20am
Meghan:

My pleasure! Which ones?
  8:23am
fred:

Hi Dave! I finally got Pierre and Lucas in the same place this week. That took a while.
@meghan: thanks, I love Schizophrenia!
  8:26am
Dave B:

Good afternoon Fred! Hopefully it was someplace with tasty beverages!....

Hey Meghan - what's the story behind the image today? It looks familiar, but I can't place it.
  8:26am
fred von helsing:

voice of the beehive, bleach, darling buds, curve... I've heard a couple of these before but they get lost in the mega bookmark shuffle of female-fronted punk rock
  8:27am
Meghan:

It's one of my favorite Sonic Youth songs......
  8:28am
Meghan:

Ummmm, have I used it before? i know I used it as a photo from my Tumblr acct....
  8:28am
will:

I think I get today's (subliminal) theme: Music for people who claim the 80s were a bad decade for music! Thanks for playing the Cavedogs and the Railway Children, two fine bands of the era that no one but you and me remember....WJ
  8:28am
fred von helsing:

I've got it! Today's theme is... "No f-bombs"
  8:29am
Dave B:

dunnoz - just curious what it was a promo for. Looks like stores could fill in the blank at the bottom...
  8:30am
Chuck:

There is great music from every era, will. Much of it just never got air play on commercial radio. Which is why commercial radio SUCKS!
  8:30am
Meghan:

HA! YES! That is the Theme! I love it! Oh Will glad you remember the Cavedogs! so wonderful!
  8:32am
Elwyn:

Back in Shitney! I mean... The plane crashed. I am posting this from the afterlife!!!
  8:32am
Elwyn:

Back in Shitney! I mean... The plane crashed. I am posting this from the afterlife!!!
  8:34am
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

I file my albums by total running time. The shortest playing time first ending with the longest playing long play record (which is Bob Dylan's Desire, by the way).
  8:35am
fred:

@dave: unfortunately, the beer wasn't up to par, but R. Stevie Moore was playing, and that more than makes up for that
  8:36am
Chuck:

Being incorporeal must make it hard to work the buttons, Elwyn. You double posted. heheh.....
  8:39am
Meghan:

I disagree with you Chuck on corporate stations suck..... I had an amazing station up in Boston that introduced me to all this. MOST stations suck, but there are the few ones out there that are good. Thankfully I had WFNX to guide my way....
  8:39am
Chuck:

Definitely have to go to the archive since I came in so late! Play list looks quite awesome!
  8:40am
Danne D:

Hi everyone :)
Great show, Meaghan :)
Hope Keili feels better soon!!!
  8:41am
Chuck:

Back in the day I suppose that was true, Meg. Can't say that about most of them now I'm afraid...
  8:43am
fred:

that trip down memory lane is keeping me glued to my computer. That record (Happy Mondays) has been the soundtrack to my highest intake of illegal stuff.
  8:43am
Chuck:

And I wasn't in Boston or any other major city. Just here in the Mid-Hudson valley. WDST in Woodstock WAS good back in the 80s, but no more...
  8:44am
fred von helsing:

Clear Channel is evil. 'Nuff said.
  8:45am
Meghan:

See Chuck, this is why I don't live in the middle of nowhere....... especially pre-internet time......
  8:45am
fred:

And I did inhale, boy did I... rum bong anyone? Then drinking the stuff the next day
  8:46am
Meghan:

ohhhh, noooooooo that is just wrong......
  8:47am
Chuck:

Oh, come now, you didn't live in Boston JUST because it had good radio, Meghan...
  8:48am
Meghan:

nope.... that was luck. But I didn't live in the middle of nowhere!
  8:49am
Chuck:

And I was going to college here, so I did have reason for my location.
  8:52am
Chuck:

I just never left after finishing college in the 80s. I like green things all around me not concrete!
  8:52am
fred von helsing:

YEAH!
  8:55am
fred:

Still no Rush, why am I not surprised?
  8:55am
Chuck:

Hum, Daniel Ash makes a second appearance today. And Graham coming up! Woohoo!
  8:57am
fred:

Speaking of oldish Boston stuff, Juliana Hatfield has a new record out in the coming days
  8:57am
Chuck:

You're kidding, Fred! Do you know when exactly?
  8:58am
Chuck:

Doh!!!
  8:59am
fred:

on her birthday: 07/27
  8:59am
fred von helsing:

Maybe playing some Rush will purge the demons
  8:59am
Chuck:

I'll be looking for that, Fred, thanks for the heads up!
  9:00am
Meghan:

it was the mention of it that jinxed it...... shame on you!
  9:01am
fred:

go here for more info: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/juliana-hatfield
  9:02am
fred von helsing:

Thanks!
  9:04am
fred:

Meghan, thanks for the delightful fill-in. And get well soon Keili, I miss you!
