Gassy Bassett - good name for a band.
Gassybassett - good name for a New England shore town or river.

  4:16pm
DJKG:

OMFG! WARRANT?!? I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU LISTEN TO MY SHOW!
  4:17pm
Warrant:

You rawk man. Maybe no pie songs fit in here, but I bet some of them abstract type tunes are at least about pi or something.

  4:38pm
bruceleh:

  4:39pm
Cecile:

I know.
  4:40pm
hubba:

ha ha!
  4:41pm
J J:

This song is ridiculous. I'd be laughing my ass off if I were witness to the recording of this.
  4:41pm
bruceleh:

I know you know.
I just love using the words "Bittacy Rise"
  4:41pm
DJKG:

cecile: no pics. where did you send them?
  4:41pm
hubba:

What's going on? I've been working, go figure... connection was lost, so I see (don't see) there are pictures of mini-taurs?
  4:42pm
Cecile:

your g-mail address. I can't attach pics via the station email.
  4:43pm
DJKG:

right. wait - hold on...
  4:43pm
hubba:

also, Kurt, when djs play something off of youtube, like on Irwin's show, do they have to pre-record or can they play it right off the puter to the airways...
  4:45pm
hubba:

you so nasty
  4:45pm
Cheri Pi:

My theme song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4:45pm
moose:

i picked up a copy of 'the sun' (us tabloid) because there was a half-dog half-cat story- it's called a 'cog' and it's a bassett hound's head on a big tabby cat's body... can't find pics online to share for some reason...
  4:45pm
hubba:

Now: Traktor!
  4:46pm
DJKG:

cheri! i was hoping you were listening!
  4:48pm
Cheri Pi:

Totally "jazzed" for my big friday night now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4:48pm
hubba:

Well, this is like the other night when I sang a duet to "18 and Life." Followed by "You got Another Thing Comin'", and then Male/female duet of "Close My/Your Eyes Forever."
  4:50pm
DJKG:

uh, cecile, i don't know you by another name, do i?
  4:51pm
Cheri Pi:

hubba: , that sounds like the perfect trilogy, bringing them up to the sky, then putting the baby to bed. I would have been in tears towards the end of the ballad.
  4:52pm
Cecile:

chefcmc?
  4:53pm
DJKG:

no - i got some minotaur pics from another listener, and sometimes you listeners have multiple names without me knowing it. but no, no minotaurs from cecile. perhaps in my spambox, which is huge but i'll check. can you p.m. your email address?
  4:54pm
Cecile:

sure!
  4:56pm
hubba:

Funny thing, I brought my singing partner to tears when I accidentally poked her in the eye.

I was trying to add a bit of choreography to the finale.
  4:59pm
Cheri Pi:

That's hilarious!
  4:59pm
bruceleh:

I can barely tolerate this sort of rock, but strangely, I do love to listen to stuff like "Skin Graft"
  5:02pm
Cheri Pi:

Brian Turner has threatened to play Warrant...
  5:02pm
hubba:

What are some other good freeform stations?
  5:03pm
hubba:

Kurt, Warrant is from Sheboygan, little know fact.
  5:04pm
Cheri Pi:

I was NEAR Sheboygan a few weeks ago, and I could feel that Warrant was nearby.
  5:05pm
hubba:

Warrant, NJ
  5:05pm
hubba:

You could feel it in your brat...
  5:08pm
hubba:

as in bratwurst... some minor clarification here
  5:10pm
T-Zero:

@Hubba: In the US? You could try University of Colorado student freeform radio, but it's AM and can be hit or miss as they don't really provide program descriptions, just who the presenters are. Or KUSF in Exile out of San Francisco. (It also depends on what you mean by "good" lol)
  5:12pm
DJKG:

hahahaha! did i just besmirch an nj band on wfmu?!? OOPS!
  5:13pm
DJKG:

BT ain't got the STONES to play WARRANT!
  5:13pm
hubba:

Well, the bar is pretty high with WFMU... if not freeform, then some type of internet programming, including podcasts or blogs... I'm also a fan of KDVS, which is a local freeform station, but I've never really heard anything much else...
  5:13pm
Ike:

2nd vote for KUSF in Exile, streaming with WFMU's help at:
http://wfmu.org/kusf.pls
  5:16pm
T-Zero:

Ike: Is that the same as http://216.118.106.243:8000/ if you're using windows media play? It won't autoplay pls files unless you save the pls as a text file and extract the url (which is what I did ;) )
  5:18pm
Ike:

Let's see... yep! TZhat's it exacT-Zly!
  5:18pm
T-Zero:

Cool. Thanks.
  5:20pm
hubba:

What about KPFA in Berkeley, that is free speech radio, and it is further up the dial, 94.1... I used to love going over the Bay Bridge and getting KUSF in loud and clear... my mind would usually begin melting and the car would drift into another lane.
  5:21pm
Freeform WFMU Pizza Box:

You've tried the rest, now try the best.
  5:21pm
T-Zero:

@hubba: Well, with those standards I don't have any other suggestions, as the other freeform stations I listen to regularly don't have forums like this or archives. Sometimes I listen to KEXP but it depends with them on the show and presenter. Some I like, some bore me to death.
  5:23pm
T-Zero:

@hubba: KPFA I don't know. Never listened.
  5:25pm
Ike:

Oh, I almost forgot WNUR in Chicago. It's wnur.org.
  5:27pm
hubba:

There is just too much stuff, period... I just wanted to see what everyone else taps into when not glued here. Thanks for the info T-Zero & Ike... I didn't know KUSF was still broadcasting
  5:27pm
hubba:

WNUR, is that Northwestern's station?
  5:27pm
Frank:

Where you been living, Reseda?
  5:29pm
T-Zero:

I like Radio One (Otago Univ in New Zealand, but with the time difference, what I like is usually on really late.
  5:29pm
Tom P.:

It's a long day, livin' in Reseda
  5:30pm
Ike:

Yeah, WNUR is Northwestern.

Not into talky stations like KPFA overall, but I see they've still got Over the Edge after all these years, so that's neat. Looks like there are archives, too. Wow.
  5:32pm
Weather Machine:

It's the fucking summer, people. Jeez.
  5:32pm
hubba:

too soon!
  5:33pm
T-Zero:

WFMU really is the best.
re: Otago - they don't have any archives which is the pitts with the 12-hour times difference
  5:34pm
T-Zero:

BTW: Generally, I can't listen to this kind of stuff at length either, and this is the first time I've listed to Minotaurs, but I've been liken it.
  5:34pm
Ike:

LOL Kurt saying "...so if you were killed by a tornado last night, then I apologize...." Hee.
  5:36pm
hubba:

my condolences... and stuff.
  5:38pm
DJKG:

T-0, thx!
  5:41pm
Seminal:

howdy from near Chicago
  5:41pm
T-Zero:

DJKG: Yep. Take a bow. Usually I like it only a track or two at a time. But your selections have kept it interesting rather than making me tense and gritting my teeth. lol
  5:43pm
T-Zero:

Odd how in my 20s I couldn't stand it all, but now in my mid 50s I'm developing an interest since finding WFMU.
  5:43pm
DJKG:

damn. i was aiming for tense and teeth-gritting!
  5:43pm
DJKG:

(T-0, do you mean blues? metal? not sure which part you didn't hate!)
  5:46pm
nannythek:

Kurt - first heard J.Spence on WBAI in the 60's. I think on Larry Josephson's morning show. Maybe late nite on Bob Fass. I was 13. Been listening to him ever since,
  5:47pm
Cecile:

hubba, I can recommend WCBN in Ann Arbor. Stationmaster Ken's first radio gig. And I DJed there a million years ago as well.
  5:48pm
DJKG:

yeah, spence is phenomenal!
  5:49pm
Cecile:

the pics should be in your g-mail now, Kurt.
  5:49pm
T-Zero:

By "stuff", I meant hard metal and the more experimental noise and really violent compositions. Although I've always liked Bauhaus and proto-punk post-punk groups for the most part. And I do like doom/death metal, but usually only in small amounts, not for 3 hours.
  5:51pm
DJKG:

actually, me too, t-0. not much of anything i want to hear for three hours. except morton feldman, maybe.
  5:51pm
DJKG:

cecile: got yr email. thanks!
  5:54pm
Cecile:

Enjoy, Kurt! It's funny how my first and last crappy camera pix of the Lego one were the best.
  5:54pm
T-Zero:

@DJKG: morton feldman -- agreed.
  5:56pm
Cecile:

I can listen to a whole hell of a lot of house music at one sitting.
  5:58pm
Mike East:

have a great weekend everybody!!!!!!
  5:58pm
Cecile:

you too, Mike East!
  5:58pm
hamburger:

it's over now! thanks for the fun Kurt!
  5:58pm
le_screech:

goodbye hound!
  5:59pm
hubba:

You rule Kurt! Thank you for da tunes!
  6:00pm
T-Zero:

@Cecile: Yeah, so can I. Especially goa/psy-trance. And shows like Mary Wing's. Her show is actually not long enough for my taste. (No offense KG). ;)
