Irene was a tropical storm in New England. But you'd never know it from any broadcast source there. What is the point of a hand-crank emergency radio if all you get is blathering idiots (some taking calls from a studio in California last night!)The feared Class One Kill Storm had my mom shaking in her bed in Virginia last night (fully clothed and the dogs equipped with their own survival kits!) never quite materialized and she was disappointed.
Do we just want a dramatic death or something? I call mass insanity.
