Listener comments!

  3:09am
Julie:

I'm up too late so I'm listening to Van Laar!
  3:11am
fred:

I overslept so I'm listening to Van Laar!
  3:12am
MVL:

Alright! Great to see you up with me, Julie. And you as well Fred.
  3:15am
hamburger:

I'm in the office early, so I'm listening to Van Laar!
  3:15am
Julie:

I don't know how you folks do these 3am shows, I really don't ;)
  3:18am
MVL:

They are definitely for masochists
  3:24am
Julie:

I am allowing myself six more minutes. Make them count :)
  3:27am
MVL:

Well, it is a longer track...
  3:30am
Julie:

and it's a good one too :)
  3:31am
ausmanx:

i'm working a different shift this week so i'm listening to van llaar for the first time, a mvl virgin, so to speak. is he as aamusing as julie, i wonder?
  3:32am
Julie:

Am I amusing?
  3:33am
Julie:

Mike does a wonderfully trippy show, he knows all this wonderful stuff I've never heard of. Everything you want in a late night WFMU show. </end rave>
  3:33am
MVL:

Thanks Julie....She is far more amusing than me, aus.
  3:34am
Julie:

@MVL only in that I am girlier than you, which is appropriate.
  3:35am
Julie:

you're not making this easy!
  3:37am
ausmanx:

j is TOTALLY amusing, but trippy and girlie are equally cool, i'd say; esp when you're subtitling a singaporean war film in mandarin
  3:37am
Julie:

@Aus now THAT sounds cool
  3:37am
fred:

Julie, I think the last time I "gave myself six more minutes of WFMU", those stretched well beyond one hour. Consider yourself warned.
  3:39am
Julie:

@Fred, right?! a 1mb file is taking forever to upload, so I have an excuse
  3:39am
Moon in June:

Hey, MVL, good morning and good tunes as usual! And good morning everyone!
  3:40am
Julie:

this is a wonderful complement to warm leatherette
  3:40am
fred:

@Julie: that last time may well have been during your show. And I really should be on my way to work right now. Just six more minutes...
  3:42am
Julie:

@Fred We at WFMU are wizards of remote hypnosis
  3:42am
MVL:

Good Morning Moon in June! great to see everyone here this morning
  3:43am
Julie:

I hope things are stayin' dry in there..studio is not terribly rain-friendly
  3:43am
ausmanx:

"we want the prosperous city to be more dazzling. we want to share peach with the world", what does that mean, comrades?
  3:47am
Julie:

I'm cutting that part of you saying Goo Goo Wah Wah out and playing it every week
  3:48am
MVL:

Noooooo!!
  3:48am
ausmanx:

hey mvl, i like the wilburn burchette. i wonder if that's any relation to the great communist journalist, wilfred burchett? also known as Wah Wah...
  3:49am
Moon in June:

Yahowa 13 is one of the most underrated band in pop history
  3:49am
Julie:

Hey I made the unflappable MVL flap! My day is complete!
  3:51am
Julie:

Okay, this is me going..I will pretend to sleep. thanks for a lovely 51 minutes Mike, everyone have a great night/day/rainstorm
  3:52am
fred:

Good night Julie
  3:53am
MVL:

Night Julie. Thanks for stopping in. @ Moon I agree..such an interesting story YaHoWa was...some amazing music.
  3:56am
Moon in June:

It was like Can in L.A
  4:01am
fred:

My "six" minutes are up too, thanks for that hour MLV
  4:01am
MVL:

Interesting way to put it Moon. I like it. Maybe...Can...with Robes..in L.A...eating an all-vegetarian diet..?
  4:02am
MVL:

thanks Fred. Get some rest!
  4:03am
Moon in June:

HAHAHA!!! Yeah, definetely! Have you heard Kohoutek (the band from Philly)?
  4:06am
MVL:

No I haven't. heard of them though...I just know the album by Yahowa with the same name. Any good?
  4:08am
Moon in June:

Really cool. Sounds like Pink Floyd's Ummagumma with Yahowa.
  4:15am
ausmanx:

i'm starting to think mvl's show would be even better with certain enhancements...
  4:17am
MVL:

I take no responsibility for the behavior and/or actions of my listeners.....but I agree!
  4:20am
ausmanx:

of course, i only refer to those enhancements sanctioned by the US FDA... even though i'm in australia...
  4:21am
Moon in June:

@ausmanx Absolutely
  4:24am
ausmanx:

and thanks for introducing me to yahowha... i'd never heard of them! and amon duul are brilliant; sunburned and nnck are clones, really; but a great thing about amon is that you can be watching all these weird german films from the early 70s and there'll suddenly be this scene where they're playing in the corner of a room, or someone plays an amon record and everyone starts tripping out. we need more of such inspiration!
  4:26am
Moon in June:

I've never heard about Kalevala. Such an interesting discover. Thanks
  4:30am
MVL:

@aus absolutely. It's all about discovery and inspiration (without sounding too hokey) Everyday I'm finding new music from people I can't believe I didn't know about the day before. @Moon yeah..pretty good Finnish psych rock!
  4:46am
Moon in June:

A famous radio dj in Spain told me once that this album by Arzachel sucks...bfff!
  4:57am
ausmanx:

Liberal Religious Youth is a pretty rocking name for a band, huh?
  5:04am
MVL:

indeed..there is a story behind those folks I need to dig into some more
  5:16am
maja:

i have to go: d*mn! thank you for the music!
  5:17am
MVL:

Thank you for stopping by, Maja!
  5:27am
Moon in June:

hey Mike, which album are you playing by Wildburn Burchette?
  5:32am
MVL:

it is called Guitar Grimoire and the track is "Fire Spell". 1973
  5:35am
Moon in June:

thanks man
  5:35am
Simon:

Every Thursday I tune a little earlier for Theme Park and I hear a bit more of your show Mike. Truly splendid music to start my day, thanks.
  5:37am
MVL:

Thats really nice of you to say...thanks very much Simon.
  5:37am
MVL:

no problem Moon.....I'll clean up the playlist at the end of the show too
  5:52am
Moon in June:

Really lovely sounds today, as usual. Thanks and have you all a good day.
  5:53am
MVL:

thanks Moon! Always great to have you around. looking forward to listening to the rest of the Luger tracks too!
  5:54am
Moon in June:

Oh! Thanks, man... :)
  9:03am
cmh:

love the show - my favorite on wfmu! it seems that there is something wrong with this week's archived feed though - it kind of craps out around the 30 min mark. does this happen to anyone else? cheers, chris
