Listener comments!

  12:01pm
Alf From Upstate:

Welcome back Tony!
  12:01pm
Tony C:

Hullo dere!
  12:02pm
iker:

hello Tony.
greetings from Spain!
  12:02pm
ricardo montalban:

Hola, Senor Tony!
  12:03pm
J J:

Yip Yip Yip
  12:03pm
Tony C:

Hello, all!
  12:06pm
ricardo montalban:

I bought a Harmonicats record recently with the Peter Gunn theme on it.
  12:07pm
J J:

Whoa.
  12:07pm
ricardo montalban:

Oh my god! This is amazing, Tony!
  12:08pm
Ike:

NSFW!!! Heh.
  12:08pm
Doug S.:

As the father of a young daughter, I found that last "number" extremely...hilarious.
  12:08pm
Tony C:

One of the nice things about not being on the regular old radio is being able to play stuff like that!
  12:09pm
ricardo montalban:

Hilarious! I was expecting one of those myriad 'letter to..' records. Certainly didn't expect that.
  12:15pm
Tony C:

The next track up is by the band Rastus, whose debut LP was the first record I ever bought -- didn't know who they were, but it was 49 cents or something and I liked the cover.
  12:18pm
Tony C:

It's a picture of a lobster or something wearing glasses.
  12:23pm
Carmichael:

Hiya, Tony my man.
  12:24pm
Tony C:

Heya, Carmichael!
  12:26pm
RASTUS:

http://bobbyjameson.blogspot.com/2008/08/part-83-somewhere-in-ohio.html
  12:27pm
Doug S.:

Rastus member Bobby Jameson, who also performed/recorded under the name Chris Lucey, was the fellow Art Linkletter accused of giving his daughter the LSD. Denying it all, Jameson has written extensively online about the "incident."
  12:29pm
ricardo montalban:

I read somewhere that a guy that was with Diane (not sure if it's Jameson) was also suspected of murdering Carol Wayne.
  12:32pm
Tony C:

Wow -- didn't know about the (alleged) Jameson-Linkletter connection. Jameson wrote the song I just played....
  12:33pm
Tony C:

This Eskimo cut reminds me of Zappa's "Grand Wazoo" in parts.
  12:34pm
Doug S.:

Jameson recorded a really fine album as Chris Lucey called "Songs of Protest and Anti-Protest."
  12:37pm
Tony C:

And the reason he recorded it as "Chris Lucey" is really weird: Covers had already been printed up for a record by the actual Chris Lucey, sessions for which fell apart. Jameson had to write new songs with the titles printed on the jacket.
  12:41pm
Carmichael:

I just sped through his blogs. Pretty amazing life and times. Didn't know he was tight with Danny Whitten; I really like the Rockets' I Gotta Hole in my Pocket.
  12:45pm
iker:

i'm told that mr.Jameson appeared in the "Mondo Hollywood" movie, singing a couple of his songs... i'd love to see that one!
  12:46pm
Tony C:

Huh -- I've got the Mondo Hollywood soundtrack LP, though I haven't listened to it in years. I'll have to pull it out. Maybe you'll hear it here next show!
  12:47pm
Tony C:

By the by, Kathe Kruse was a member of the great Die Todliche Doris
  12:49pm
iker:

cool! i seem to remember that Jameson was filmed singing "Vietnam".
my fav song of his is "Girl from the East". pretty, pretty song!
  12:49pm
Alf From Upstate:

Surely it can't be disproven that Bobby Jameson didn't give Kathy Kruse the LSD.
  12:50pm
Tony C:

You're right, Alf -- he probably did!
  12:55pm
Tony C:

In fact, Alf, I think I see Jameson's plasma oozing underneath the doorframe right now.
  1:05pm
ricardo montalban:

This song reminds me of Godley and Creme's Art School Canteen
  1:08pm
Tony C:

Don't think I know that one. Is it as depressing (lyrically)?
  1:12pm
ricardo montalban:

Yes. full of angst and self-loathing, with great lyrics..
"Doe's getting into Zappa
mean getting out of Zen?"
  1:17pm
Tony C:

Here's a rare look into the sensitive side of Grand Funk
  1:34pm
Tony C:

The Steve Halpern track on now is the one cut dropped from all reissues of this album (his first). The reason: it's much better than anything else he ever did. Shows his psychedelic roots.
  1:39pm
Tony C:

Are you all taking a siesta? Or have you been kidnapped by Bobby Jameson?
  1:40pm
Tony C:

Camberwell Now is post-This Heat
  1:41pm
recommeded:

love Charles Heyward
  1:44pm
Carmichael:

Actually, I HAVE been hijacked by Jameson's blog. Sorry, I'll pay more attention. I actually grew up on Grand Funk's Phoenix. I learned how to play acoustic guitar (badly) by listening to Mark Farner (play badly).
  1:46pm
EX:

I like!
  1:47pm
iker:

no siesta, here! actually it's almost dinner time!
keep on rockin', Tony!!!
  1:47pm
BSI:

pseudo code!
wah......... badly timed meeting.....
  1:49pm
Tony C:

Ah -- glad to see Jameson hasn't convinced all of you to jump out the window.
  1:50pm
BSI:

Clearly I missed something there. I prefer Bushmill's anyway.
  1:59pm
ricardo montalban:

Cool track...
  2:03pm
Ike:

Gelatinous Citizen gets my vote for best band name so far today.
  2:03pm
Carmichael:

I initially thought this was Wall of Voodoo
  2:05pm
BSI:

whoa! Gelatinous Citizen! Ferd lives!
  2:07pm
Tony C:

Am still doing a Larry Mondello Band blogpost on Beware of the Blog -- just got delayed. It'll go up next Thursday. Should have lots of unseen photos.
  2:20pm
Tony C:

This carrot, as you call it, is capable of flying an aircraft millions of miles through space.
  2:22pm
ricardo montalban:

This show has gone very new wave all of a sudden.
(adjust leatherette boots, slit sunglasses, snaps fingers to beat)
  2:29pm
Tony C:

Don't get too comfortable in those leatherette boots -- might be time to switch back to sandals pretty soon.
  2:32pm
Conrad:

Weirdo new wave is why i come here! (goes off dancing like Dieter in "Sprockets")
  2:34pm
J J:

Love Jeanette.
  2:37pm
Tony C:

The lads from Stanford are covering Harry Nilsson, if you're wondering
  2:40pm
Tony C:

Pilot, on now, is Blue Cheer-related. Bruce and Leigh Stevens from BC were in the band. This song, oddly, sound a bit like Family, though, methinks
  2:42pm
Carmichael:

I believe this is the 3rd band I've heard of called Pilot. Very confusing ....
  2:44pm
Tony C:

I should mention that the record's mostly pretty wretched, barring that one track
  2:44pm
Mike East:

Been enjoying your show today, Tony C. Thanks for the jams.
  2:45pm
Tony C:

Glad to hear it, Mike!
  2:53pm
iker:

wonderful show as always, Tony! have a great day!
  2:55pm
Tony C:

Thanks, Iker ... and everyone else for listening! Be sure to stick around for the George-Edwards tracks everybody....
  2:55pm
ricardo montalban:

Thanks for making radio soup for us, Tony!
  2:57pm
Tony C:

Soup for nuts. You're welcome!
  2:59pm
Tony C:

See you all in two weeks. Thanks for leestening....
  12:19pm
Paul McNie:

WOW-- The Psychopaths!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I study bats in the U.K., and I saw the Psychopaths at the Coliseum in Leeds-- they blew the doors down.
  5:51pm
Edward Balian:

Hi Tony. Sincere thanks for all your kind support of our music--you're the best, man! ==Ed, The George-Edwards Group.
  6:38pm
Mary Gawford:
