Another action-packed evening of wall-to-wall live music from Barbes, the beloved music bar at 376 9th St (corner of 6th Ave) in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Featuring the talented tandem of Patrick Farrell (accordion) and Ben Holmes (trumpet), who mix their adoration of East European music with the odd bit of 60s pop and other strange musical bedfellows; uproarious Balkan-punky Barcelona band Freak Fandango Orchestra, who jetted across the Atlantic for a prestigious NY Gypsy Festival show at Drom (85 Ave. A in the East Village) on Friday Sept 16th before capping off their visit with a special set during our remote; brilliant Zimbabwean mbira vitruoso Forward Kwenda, renowned for his complex and entirely original performance technique; and CHIA's Dance Party, brassy spin-off of acclaimed Colombian roots band La Cumbiamba EneYe, which uses Colombian marching band tradition as a jumping off point but from that point on, the sky's the limit.

As usual Irene Trudel co-hosts with Rob. Admission is free during the broadcast, we'll be doling out free FMU swag, and - if that's not enough - the show will be preceded by an FMU Listener Meet-Up hosted by fabulous FMU Monday morning host and Assistant GM Liz Berg from 5 to 6 pm.
