The Heep!
  9:04pm
glenn:

just out of curiosity, how often DO you forget your records at home?
  9:08pm
john:

Hey Evan! Show on audio, mlb.com streaming four different games at once, after spending the afternoon at Chiti Field. Life is, in fact, not at all bad.
  9:08pm
efd:

I've never forgotten ALL of them, but I frequently forget a specific one.
  9:09pm
Dave B:

W00T!
  9:09pm
efd:

Awesome, thanks john for including me in your mass media consumption!
  9:09pm
glenn:

what's up with the bosox and the rays?
  9:10pm
keith:

EIGHTH!!!
  9:11pm
john:

Dammit, I was just typing twofer Wednesday....and who better to be the soundtrack of mlb.com-o-rama?
  9:12pm
glenn:

i don't think it's going to matter who makes it in the a.l.. philly's going to crush 'em anyway.
  9:16pm
Meghan:

Sox- 3-2... Yankees 7-0
  9:17pm
efd:

thanks Meghan!

glenn, you could be right; it's going to be tough to get past Philly's pitching.
  9:19pm
Meghan:

I am trying to keep track myself while getting ready for tomorrow morning! I shouldn't even be worrying about them, but September hurt us!
  9:20pm
G:

Was in Baltimore for Monday's game. There were more red shirts in the stands than orange ones. honestly. The owner of the O's owns the hotels near the stadium, and that's really where he makes his money.

Just before the inside the park homer by Baltimore, I said, "I've seen managers leave the pitcher in one batter too often so many times in exactly this situation, why not change him when he's at 105 pitches and clearly losing it, before the damage is irreversible?"

The next day in the paper, Boston's manager said he had no choice, the bullpen was still gassed out after the 14 inning game...
  9:20pm
glenn:

shouldn't you be in bed, meaghan? don't you have to get up at the fart of the sparrow?
  9:22pm
Dave B:

get all the foul language out NOW Ms Meghan...
  9:23pm
glenn:

and i don't even think roy halladay's been their best pitcher this year.
  9:23pm
efd:

G, I was wondering if you made it to that game. Yeah, that ITPHR was not pretty.
  9:24pm
Dave B:

and keep your eye-eiiiiiii

on the sparrow!
  9:26pm
Meghan:

ha! I do! but I am still getting ready! And yes, no cussing for me tomorrow.... and lots of coffee!

G, I go to the Baltimore games, and I agree, it's mini Fenway. Though, my brother says it turns to mini Yankee Stadium when they are in town. Those O's fans are mean, but not that loyal.
  9:27pm
G:

That was the first inside the park homer by an Oriole in Camden Yards, in case that news didn't get up here.

When Ortiz got a called third strike he was so pissed he not only argued after being called out, he also started in again arguing with the umpire *before* his next at bat.

That's what your team having like a .250 month at exactly the wrong time can do to your mood.
  9:29pm
G:

Yeah, I've been to several games with Boston down there, and their fans say Camden Yards is so much newer with better views and for so much less money, they feel it almost pays for the travel to Baltimore and hotels. They come in groups for entire series. My ticket for behind first base were $25.
  9:30pm
12539:

Geez, I feel weird listening to the Funk without an interest in baseball.
  9:31pm
G:

If Boston loses tonight, you won't hear much about baseball after this!
  9:32pm
Dave B:

I'm with ya 12539..
  9:32pm
Skirkie:

"Passed over" he says...
  9:34pm
G:

Rain delay in Baltimore, tarp being rolled out
  9:34pm
glenn:

Toronto 3 Chicago White Sox 2

Boston 3 Baltimore 2 (top 5th)

Cleveland 3 Detroit 2 (bottom 6th)

N.Y. Yankees 7 Tampa Bay 0 (top 5th)

Texas 1 L.A. Angels 0 (top 3rd)
  9:35pm
Joe B:

Red Sox rain delay.
  9:36pm
Meghan:

ugh..... I stupid rain delay. I feel like rain has been our downfall lately.
  9:38pm
G:

Last year I was at a Baltimore-Boston game in Camden Yards, and the Sox lost a nine or ten run lead (and the game) after an hour-plus rain delay for a huge thunderstorm. Thor has it in for the Sox, maybe.
  9:40pm
glenn:

just wait until january. if the n.b.a. calls the season off, that'll leave hockey. which is okay by me, big canuck puckhead that i am. you guys aren't gonna like it much, though.
  9:42pm
Stevel:

One of the larger challenges of my life was trying to explain baseball to my Italian relatives. They have NO cultural grasp of the game, and I can think of NO simple explanation for it.
  9:44pm
glenn:

hit ball. catch ball. throw ball. everything else is lagniappe.
  9:47pm
Stevel:

glenn: Lagniappe. Noted. Gratzie!
  9:50pm
Danne D:

Hi Funk Fans :)
Great start to the show, EFD!
Side note - the Manchurian Candidate pic on the front page is excellent.

Side note #2 - Tonight is the miracle comeback of all miracle comebacks as I take down Aharon and win the Evan Funk Davies Happy How Do You Do To You Fantasy Baseball League!!!!!*

*-Probably not
  9:51pm
G:

Our mileage may vary, huh, Danne!?
  9:53pm
Danne D:

*note to self - don't provoke glenn or he'll riot in your town*

(j/k Glenn - please don't come here and riot!)
  9:53pm
glenn:

ummmm. that's about the extent of my italian. bienvenue.
  9:55pm
Danne D:

lol I think I got a lot of mileage outta my team this year, G, just not quite enough :) Too many inconsistent pitchers made it necessary to use 'em too many innings. ER was a tough category to punt unfortunately
  9:55pm
G:

Any Sox fans who haven't seen Jason Gay's Sept. 19th essay about the meltdown may "enjoy" it -- it's addressed to Boston kids who have never seen a classic Sox swoon:

http://bit.ly/nAP8Gn
  9:56pm
glenn:

no riots. stupid vancouverites. aren't they supposed to be like, all mellow and everything?
  9:59pm
Danne D:

@G - well we're into then 2nd decade of the century - this is where things start to slow down for the Red Sox....

As for my fantasy team, I think I'm proudest that I somehow got 94 saves when I started the year with a non-closer (Uehara) and a guy who wasn't a reliever anymore (Duensing) as my two RPs.

Thanks for setting up the league again Evan, really was a lot of fun :)
  10:00pm
john:

Phillies tie Braves in the 9th!
  10:01pm
Skirkie:

For what it's worth, I might win a fantasy league that isn't yours.
  10:02pm
glenn:

the brave's collapse is just about as epic as the sox'.
  10:02pm
Danne D:

Btw, Don Kelly playing for my team today allowed me to complete an Aharon - I started at least 1 player from every team in MLB at some point this season.
@glenn - That Northwest is a pretty crazy area, - You'd think Portlanders would be all mellow but they went up to Seattle and did that whole WTO Protest thing*
*- Seattle version of story "all those fucking idiots came up from Portland and messed up our city"
@john dammit :( that loses the win I was gonna get for Hudson :( I think I led the league in "pitchers who have a good game but still manage to get a no-decision" this year :(
@Skirkie - congrats!
  10:03pm
Skirkie:

Rock flute?
  10:04pm
Danne D:

Hmmm Jethro Tull should sue
  10:05pm
Stevel:

Liking the rock flute.
  10:05pm
john:

Flute rock, umm, rocks.
  10:06pm
Danne D:

agreed steve :)

Btw, Braves got out of the inning w/o any more runs scoring 3-3 going to the bottom of the 9th
  10:06pm
john:

Except for Jethro Dull.
  10:06pm
Danne D:

Chris Carpenter - 10 K, 0.42 whip for the game 0 ER. Where was this the first half of the year :(
  10:07pm
Philly:

Thanks, Danne, keep us updated on who we get to cream.
  10:08pm
efd:

what's happening in the Cards-Astros game?
  10:08pm
Danne D:

Nice of them to stop the Baltimore-Boston game so that EFD can watch the end after his show.

@Philly watch out for those pesky Diamondbacks
  10:08pm
efd:

oh, I guess that's what.
  10:08pm
Danne D:

7-0 Cards. Going to the bottom of the 8th. Mercy rule somehow not yet applied.
  10:10pm
G:

Rays in 8th have runners on 2nd and 3rd, no outs. 7 runs is a lot to make up, but they're showing some life...
  10:11pm
G:

Bases loaded, no out
  10:13pm
Danne D:

Oh my Goodness Gracious, G!
  10:15pm
Danne D:

going to the 9th in Houston. Carpenter's line now
8 IP, 11 K, 1 BB, 2 H, 0 ER
  10:15pm
john:

Going to the 10th in Atlanta!
  10:15pm
glenn:

i hate to say it, but go rays. ( i hate the yankees)
  10:15pm
G:

Ayala now the new pitcher against the Rays
  10:16pm
glenn:

if toronto still had carpenter and halladay, and a decent bullpen...... oh, well. the past is past.
  10:16pm
Danne D:

yeah glenn :( (I root for the Jays in the AL)
  10:17pm
G:

Ayala walks in a run, bases still loaded with no outs
  10:17pm
Danne D:

In other news, Ryan Braun is 0-3 for the Brewers. Jose Reyes is your NL batting champ.
  10:18pm
glenn:

we do have the best g.m. in the game, so that's a big plus.
  10:18pm
Danne D:

If Ayala allows all 7 runs to blow it they can do a newspaper saying AY AYALA!
  10:18pm
Meghan:

I am hoping that I go to sleep and wake up to a nice surprise in the morning like I did Monday morning..... *crosses fingers* Night all! I can't believe I am saying this- Go Yankees..... eep!
  10:19pm
G:

Hit batter, another Rays run, bases still loaded, no outs, top of the order coming up
  10:19pm
Danne D:

8-0 Cards now

Good night Meghan :) Give regards to Bosco please :)
  10:19pm
glenn:

aren't you a habs fan, danne? are you a secret canadian?
  10:20pm
Meghan:

will do Danne! he's right next to me!
  10:20pm
Danne D:

No, I am a proud New Jersey Devils fan.

I will say though that the Habs are probably 2nd given how much the organization has given to my Devils (and because Maurice Richard was clearly such a badass) (and b/c the Whalers are gone - they were old #2)
  10:20pm
Danne D:

Awwwwwww Bosco :)
  10:22pm
Danne D:

Whoa :) Will have to preset wake alarm to 91.1 :)
  10:22pm
glenn:

7 - 2
  10:22pm
Danne D:

And yes, glenn, you can in fact find Brass Bonanza in the WFMU playlist archives:
http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/5690
  10:22pm
G:

7-3 Yankees, but two outs now
  10:23pm
Gibbles:

JAMES FROM YO LA TANGO ON NOAHS SHOW!!! COFFEE BREAK NEXT!
  10:23pm
glenn:

don't worry. if bettman continues his reign of terror, the whale may be back.
  10:23pm
Danne D:

Is the square dancing issue why we've never heard ELP's "Hoedown" on your show, Evan?
  10:23pm
G:

Home run Rays, 7-6
  10:23pm
john:

We had the square dancing too. Bane of my existence from 4th-6th grades. Only person I know who hated it more was the gym teacher.
  10:24pm
Danne D:

The penultimate Coffee Break show :(
  10:24pm
G:

Rays singled on first pitch after homer
  10:24pm
glenn:

brass bonanza? i'm confused.
  10:24pm
Danne D:

lol wow, G!!

Evan - he's not joking - it really is 7-6 now.
  10:25pm
Danne D:

Brass Bonanza is the Hartford Whalers theme song.
  10:25pm
glenn:

yay rays.
  10:25pm
efd:

oh, I didn't disbelieve him Danne.
  10:26pm
G:

Rays steal second
  10:26pm
glenn:

johnny damon up.
  10:26pm
Danne D:

Ayala still in btw.

I didn't think you'd disbeliever him, EFD, but just wanted to give you a 2nd source just to knock out that possibility.
  10:27pm
G:

7-6, one inning left...
  10:27pm
Danne D:

first a triple-play and now this big comeback. Crazy
  10:27pm
Danne D:

Damon popped out.
  10:28pm
Danne D:

meanwhile the Braves have 1 on and 1 out in the bottom of the 10th
  10:28pm
glenn:

i didn't know they had a theme song.
  10:28pm
Danne D:

Cardinals have won 8-0. Carpenter with a complete game 2-hitter.

@glenn - I am shocked
  10:29pm
Danne D:

Brass Bonanza is legendary
  10:29pm
Joe B:

thanks for the plug EFD!
  10:29pm
glenn:

due up for the yankees laird, pena, and golson, none of whom i have ever heard of.
  10:30pm
Danne D:

Brass Bonanza:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8d7nQjOv_g&feature=fvst
  10:30pm
Danne D:

I am now only 9 points behind Aharon. Keep Hope Alive!*

* - really no hope of catching him
  10:31pm
efd:

Pena's usually a defensive replacement; Laird and Golson are Scranton call-ups.
  10:31pm
Danne D:

Golson - he was that Defense end that was a bust for the Jets right? :)
  10:31pm
G:

MLB says they will not call the Boston game if they have any choice at all. Mucho heavy thunderstorms all around Baltimore right now. Expect the game to start up again probably after this show ends.
  10:31pm
Danne D:

Chipper Jones up for the Braves. 2-1 count 2 out man of first
  10:32pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

Hi Evan & all! Since I'm obviously rooting AGAINST Tampa, does that mean I'm rooting FOR the Red Sox?

???
  10:32pm
PB:

Seeing as about 80% of the posts tonight are about baseballl and efd just played a tune from Weekend's new EP, their 1st album is entitled Sports (and is very good).
  10:32pm
Frank:

efd, could you please play some Artful Dodger?
  10:33pm
G:

Yes, Holly, if Boston gets the wild card slot, Tampa's season ends in the next hour or so.
  10:33pm
Danne D:

Not to be confused with the Huey Lewis and the News album of the same name, PB? :)
  10:33pm
glenn:

i am watching brass bonanza. by the way, i loved brendan shanahan as a player and i love what he's doing for the n.h.l. now.
  10:34pm
PB:

Definitely not!! I think it is really good.
  10:34pm
efd:

Frank, I've actually been carting an Artful Dodger LP around for a while now! I must have been waiting for your request. It'll be a little while, though.
  10:35pm
Danne D:

@glenn - It's like "Okay Blue Jays" except like 1000 more heart-tugging for NHL fans
  10:35pm
PB:

Weekend's "Sports" that is.
  10:35pm
glenn:

yankees are out. mid 9th.
  10:36pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

@G - I know! As a Yankee fan I want the Yanks to get their sh*t together & beat Tampa. Which is to Boston's advantage. See the conflict here?
  10:36pm
G:

ESPN didn't even bother to show the Yankees half of the 9th! They're talking about the playoff possibilities instead...
  10:36pm
Joe B:

yanks still batting on my tv,
  10:37pm
cheri:

hiya evan "lord of the of the funk",, really great show tonight,, heeey danne
  10:37pm
glenn:

sorry, i was hasty on that.
  10:37pm
G:

yep, holly, in sports you can always root for and against -- which covers the emotional waterfront!
  10:38pm
Kat:

I know nothing about baseball but I do know I like this Pyrolator track quite a bit.
  10:38pm
PB:

Damn, I wanted to hear the Mikal Cronin. Isn't he one of the opening acts for Ty Segall tomorrow night. I really want to see Ty but I have some serious work to do on Friday.
  10:39pm
glenn:

okay, now they're out.
  10:40pm
G:

they're pulling the tarp off in baltimore, to see if they can play more before another thunderstorm passes over (or not, you know how thunderstorms can be)
  10:41pm
Stevel:

spy from cairo is KICKING IT!! Nice stuff, but its hard to type grant narratives when you can't stay in your chair.
  10:42pm
efd:

PB, that's correct. He'll be live on 3 Chord Monte tomorrow afternoon, maybe you can tune in?
  10:42pm
G:

Yankees are bringing in Cory Wade as their 10th pitcher of the night, to pitch the ninth
  10:43pm
G:

Long fly, one out Rays
  10:43pm
PB:

efd, thanks for the heads up. I will try to tune in tomorrow.
  10:43pm
Danne D:

Hiya Cheri.

Thanks for the play-by-play, G!
  10:45pm
G:

Two outs Rays, pinch hitter coming up
  10:45pm
glenn:

2 out.
  10:47pm
Joe B:

nice of Joe Maddon to not notice David Price had nothing at all until it was 6-zip
  10:47pm
Emily:

this song sounds good
  10:47pm
cheri:

evan that's what you'll be known for,,"lord of the funk" what do you think?
  10:47pm
G:

Tied, home run
  10:48pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

Evan - I like this sureshot solution song, too!
  10:48pm
Danne D:

HOME RUN!!!!!!
  10:48pm
Julie:

Oh noes! I'm late I'm late
  10:48pm
Danne D:

unbelieveable
  10:48pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

@G - Seriously ??????!!!!!!!
  10:48pm
glenn:

woo hoo!!
  10:48pm
G:

you gotta believe, lol
  10:48pm
Danne D:

Kinda rooting for like a 20-inning Rays game now and a 20-inning Red Sox game
  10:49pm
G:

7-7
  10:50pm
G:

tv has girardi shaking his head in the dugout, tampa stadium playing "party every night" by KISS

Danne D:

Dan Johnson with the pinch-hit home run.

It was 7-0 Evan, but who's counting...
  10:51pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

OK, here's why baseball ROCKS. Still rooting for the Yankees, of course, but...AWESOME!
  10:51pm
glenn:

another hit and a pitching change.
  10:51pm
Julie:

Don Johnson plays baseball?
  10:52pm
G:

Yes, in the middle of the 8th it was 7-0, now 7-7

  10:52pm
Danne D:

Dan Johnson's batting line going into that at bat...

9 for 83 (.108)
.157 slugging
1 HR on the year
  10:52pm
Danne D:

To quote the late great Mel Allen...How About That!
  10:53pm
Joe B:

yankees face Tigers in first round
  10:53pm
Julie:

Don Johnson plays baseball?
  10:53pm
G:

@Julie: Yeah, Johnson moved from Miami to Tampa, and took steroids
  10:54pm
G:

  10:54pm
john:

Philly and Atlanta head to the 12th!
  10:55pm
Danne D:

52 career homers is 398 games since '05.

played 11 games in '08 - 2 HR
played 0 games in '09
played 40 games in '10 - 7 HR

incredible
  10:55pm
Danne D:

Maybe Evan Needs to play SuperSox '75 to inspire victory
  10:55pm
G:

doing the ticket giveaway before 11PM could be a Sox jinx, good call
  10:56pm
Danne D:

Aaron Boone and Bucky Dent were probably more likely heroes (but probably not Buddy Biancalana)
  10:56pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

red mass :-)
  10:56pm
Julie:

ack sorry for the repeat..my comment board is coming up in gurgles
  10:57pm
Julie:

Bucky Dent was nice looking. And yes, that's the limit of my baseball knowledge. That and Thurman Munson's death sticks solidly in my head.
  10:57pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

Bucky :-) (Sorry, Evan)
  10:57pm
glenn:

but buddy biancalana is definitely a better baseball name.
  10:57pm
Danne D:

leftover from your hurricane show, Julie? (gurgles)
  10:58pm
G:

Sox-O's play restarting now
  10:58pm
Julie:

@Danne that seems like a million years ago
  10:59pm
Danne D:

yeah Julie :(
  10:59pm
Aharon:

How's that comeback, Danne? I assume you were talking about the Rays.
  10:59pm
G:

Boston has a runner, hit batsman
  10:59pm
G:

I meant Baltimore has a runner
  10:59pm
Danne D:

I went home to watch the end of that Yankees-Red Sox game - had actually ridden my bike to the store to buy baseball cards eariler I think
  11:00pm
Danne D:

@aharon :(
  11:01pm
Danne D:

Congrats, Aharon - well done!
  11:01pm
G:

Danne is a polite loser :-)
  11:01pm
cheri:

hiya julie,,, i hope you got my mail,,, if so,,by all means mail me back
  11:01pm
G:

Artful Dodger!
  11:02pm
Aharon:

@Danne--thanks. I'd luck to thank my obsessiveness and blind luck.
  11:02pm
efd:

by request for commenteer Frank!
  11:02pm
Danne D:

1st and 2nd - 1 out for the Orioles.

Braves-Phillies going to bottom of 12th
  11:03pm
Danne D:

I was pretty obsessive too, though :)
  11:03pm
G:

Baltimore men at first and second, two outs
  11:03pm
Aharon:

Though of course the divergence between real baseball and fantasy is no way to start a new year!
  11:04pm
G:

one out, the announcer misspoke, ugh!
  11:04pm
Danne D:

lol, Aharon :)

btw, in honor of you I played a Detroit Tiger today, thus giving me at least one starting player from every team in MLB this year
  11:04pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

@Danne - I was at my older sister's brand new apartment - she was so excited to show off her first grownup" place - my Dad & I ruined her afternoon, I think, by staying holed up in her bedroom watching tv...
  11:05pm
Aharon:

Well, yeah. You're no fool, Danne.

Let's go, Baltimore! Or...whoever! I always liked going to Camden Yards in the 90s, though that was before I actually watched baseball.

And the last thing you write brings a tear to eye, Danne. A tear of pride. Next year: 20 moves or 200! That's my goal.
  11:05pm
Danne D:

yeah that was such a huge game, Holly - everything stopped that day
  11:06pm
Julie:

Cheri I don't do a lot of chitchat through email. If listeners ask me something music/show related, then I'll answer.
  11:06pm
Danne D:

Andino up for the Orioles....
  11:06pm
G:

@Holly etc.: What was so great on tv? :-)
  11:07pm
Aharon:

Texan Lettuce strikes out with 2 runners on and 2 outs for the Yankees. Rays up to bat...
  11:07pm
Longtime Comment Reader:

We could see the pushing was all on one side there, Julie :-)
  11:07pm
Danne D:

I believe Holly was talking about the one-game Yankees-Red Sox playoff game in '78 starring Bucky Fucking Dent.
  11:08pm
Danne D:

Here's to hoping you make 200 next year Aharon :) (and that I get some better pitchers to start off the year!)
  11:08pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

And remember the Yankees' theme song that year?
Ringo's It Don't Come Easy.
Still love it!

@Danne - yep ;-)
  11:08pm
Danne D:

Andino strikes out.
  11:08pm
G:

Mr Inside the Park Homer on Monday Andino struck out...
  11:09pm
Danne D:

PIX showed that special on that '78 Yankee team like 1 million times, holly :)
  11:09pm
Danne D:

JJ Hardy is now up. 2-2 today for the O's
  11:10pm
G:

Baltimore out, Boston coming up
  11:10pm
Danne D:

groundout - they go to the 8th in baltimore
  11:11pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

@Julie -

Missed your comment! Yes, Bucky was adorable. One of my first crushes. But I had a poster of decidedly unadorable Thurman in pride of place over my bed.
  11:11pm
Danne D:

Upton on first for Rays
  11:12pm
Julie:

Every time he introduces this I picture him in a roomful of suds. I blame the wetness of the studio A carpet on THAT. It was not Hurricane Irene after all!
  11:13pm
Calgon:

I helped
  11:14pm
cheri:

good night evan,,julie & danne,,,best wishes
  11:14pm
Skirkie:

I think this guy Stan called Clay Pigeon during an early morning fill in last winter. I remember that call specifically.
  11:14pm
Danne D:

Btw Scott Proctor is the 11th Yankees pitcher in this game. Kinda interesting to ponder what happens if this thing goes mega-innings
  11:15pm
G:

Scutaro on first for Boston, one out, single
  11:15pm
Danne D:

good night cheri
  11:15pm

Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

Via ThePostGame:
"Vice President Joe Biden has always been on record with his fanatical support of the Philadelphia Phillies. So why did the president's right-hand man say he's pulling for the Red Sox to make the playoffs?
Biden visited Boston for the third time this year on Wednesday, looking for dollars to help President Obama's bid for another term in the White House. But on the way to the event from New York, the Boston Globe reports, Biden led a prayer for the lousy Sox.
Biden explained to a group of supporters that his top Secret Service protector is from Boston. So before his plane landed, Biden addressed his staff, "I said everyone bow their head," Biden said. "We're going to say a prayer that Boston wins the wild card spot. I'm worried if in fact they don't, he's going to be so damn miserable he will not jump in front of a bullet."
  11:17pm
G:

@Hiolly: Politics makes strange bedfellows.
  11:17pm
G:

Double, but Boston runner Scutaro out at home oops! Swoon material
  11:18pm
Julie:

I don't care WHO he is, I am not climbing into a bed (or a ticket bubble bath) with Biden.
  11:18pm
glenn:

aw. that almost sounds republican, worryiing about himself first.
  11:18pm
Julie:

I LOVE THIS!!
  11:18pm
Danne D:

strike out - they go to the 11th in Tampa
  11:18pm
glenn:

2 outs for t.b.
  11:19pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

Zombie Zombie is just about perfect now - thank you, Evan!
  11:19pm
Danne D:

oops
  11:19pm
G:

Scutaro stopped to see if the double would be caught, but he was already past third and was going to be doubled off no matter what if it was caught. If he'd just taken his chances and kept running, he beats the tag easily.
  11:19pm
Danne D:

lost track Glenn
  11:20pm
Danne D:

Damon settling this btw, would be totally poetic with the whole Yankees-TB-Boston thing
  11:21pm
cheri:

evan & julie have a great week,, see you soon.thnx for a great show efd!!.
  11:21pm
Aharon:

Goodie Proctor bewitching the Rays...so far.
  11:21pm
Danne D:

strike 3! now they go tot he 11th
  11:21pm
glenn:

thanks for clarifying that, julie. i was worried for a minute.
  11:22pm
Danne D:

top 13 in atlanta now...
  11:23pm
Somebody:

@glenn Better than being democrat and always worrying about what someone else has and how to take it to give it to someone who has not earned it
  11:23pm
Aharon:

Multitasking, if multiple forms of entertainment can be considered "tasks."
  11:24pm
Danne D:

interesting contrast to follow - especially if this game goes really long. Yankees have used 11 pitchers (including Burnett and Hughes). Rays are only on their 6th pitcher
  11:24pm
Julie:

I can't believe they're on a 13th inning. It's like George Carlin, "We don't know WHEN it's gonna end."
  11:24pm
Danne D:

7th pitcher now
  11:25pm
Julie:

I wonder if the rest of the zombie zombie album is like that
  11:25pm
G:

Baltimore 3 up 3 down in 8th (two warning track flies, though) -- going to ninth now with Boston still up 3-2
  11:27pm
Danne D:

1 away for yanks - nunez flyout
  11:27pm
glenn:

well somebody, thanks for your input, but if you want me to listen to you, drop the alias and have the onions to let us know who you are.
  11:28pm
Danne D:

laird lines out - 2 away
  11:28pm
Danne D:

@glenn - Dick Cheney does not ever drop his aliases
  11:28pm
G:

Baltimore's had only 4 hits the whole game, and they're still in it. Just like on Monday, Boston is leaving way too many people on base (10 hits, 3 runs)
  11:29pm
john:

Phils go ahead 4-3 in the 13th on a bloop single by Hunter Pence.
  11:29pm
Danne D:

Phillies score in top of 13th!
  11:29pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

  11:30pm
Julie:

Colbert..a good Carolina boy
  11:30pm
Julie:

  11:30pm
G:

Bostion is arguing a called out at first on a bunt attempt
  11:31pm
glenn:

good boy andrew.
  11:32pm
efd:

G, as much as the Red Sox pitching has faltered and deserves some of the blame for the poor play this month the offense also needs to shoulder much of the burden. The total runs scored is skewed by several blowouts, but for the most part they've been scoring around 3 runs a game or less, and that's not cutting it.
  11:32pm
Danne D:

Yanks go down 1-2-3
going to bottom 11 in tampa
  11:32pm
Danne D:

going to the bottom of the 13th in Atlanta with the Braves down 4-3. Last call for the Braves.
  11:33pm
G:

Runner was given first -- the Balt first baseman clearly bobbled the ball, but only the home plate ump could see it, not the first base ump who made the first call
  11:33pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

Colbert, oddly enough is from SOUTH Carolina (Regardless of other areas of disagreement , us Carolinians band together in our defensiveness of other people, er, banding us together) ;)
  11:34pm
Danne D:

Zobrist-Kochman-Guyer up for the Rays
  11:34pm
efd:

Hey Andrew/Somebody, welcome back! IIIRC you are fairly new to WFMU, correct?
  11:35pm
Danne D:

well at least Evan knows that Somebody is listening...
  11:35pm
glenn:

  11:36pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

efd is a good and wise man.
  11:36pm

  11:37pm
Aharon:

On an entirely different note, Matt Kemp just hit another home run. EFD, you gonna play any Rihanna if he gets to 40-40?
  11:38pm
Danne D:

fwiw there are 19 pitchers on the Yankees active roster
  11:38pm
glenn:

19. they might need them.
  11:39pm
12539:

  11:39pm
Danne D:

  11:42pm
G:

Ortiz infield nubber, runner out at 2nd, man at 3rd held in place
  11:43pm
glenn:

  11:43pm
Holly the (nice) Yankee fan in NC:

  11:43pm
G:

  11:44pm
Danne D:

  11:45pm
Andrew:

@Holly I'll be looking for you on the schedule
  11:46pm
Danne D:

Braves lost their last 5 to miss the playoffs
  11:46pm
Danne D:

my dad was a Cardinals fan so I don't mind seeing them win
  11:46pm
glenn:

(penultimate means next to last)
  11:47pm
Danne D:

here we go O's!
  11:47pm
Aharon:

As anyone who went there will tell you, Evan and Noah, penultimate or not, Penn is still in the ivy League, and last to nobody.
  11:47pm
G:

Boston is 2 for 11 with runners in scoring position, 11 left on base. not a world series winner's stats.
  11:47pm
Danne D:

isn't the Record Collector store there in Bordentown (it used to be in Morrisville Pa)
  11:47pm
efd:

glenn, yes, I know.
  11:48pm

  11:49pm
G:

  11:49pm

Danne D:

1st and 3rd for Yankees now
  11:54pm
efd:

yeah, well, they had about a 90% chance of making the playoffs a few weeks ago so I'm not putting a lot of stock in those thingies at the moment.

The World Series, yes. This game, eh.
  11:57pm
PB:

Nice game (I mean show) tonight efd.
  11:57pm
john:

Worse than getting him at home. Dude took off from 3rd on a hard ground ball to the third baseman. Dead duck trying to get back to the bag. Kind of thing you get yelled at for in little league.
