I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

  Fri. 10/14/11 12:13pm Cheri Pi:

But seriously, headbangers.Don’t let Randy Newman have the last word on the Cuyahoga River Fire of 1949.
This poorly packaged, under-shredded historical event is your bands next hit record; it's like the river set itself on fire just for you, 62 years later.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:14pm Cecile:

  Fri. 10/14/11 12:14pm Carmichael:

Bryce, you've unlocked the secret of great radio: always wear a suit and tie. The product will sound that much more professional.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:14pm Hugo:

Raga mama raga ...
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:15pm Cheri Pi:

We can't lose. Brill will now be known as Crill.

RAGA DAY!!!!!! how wonderful!!!! helping to soothe an already *STRESSFUL* day . . . gives one the feeling of being totally IMMERSED in that lovely, other-worldly ambience of the All-Night Classical Indian Music Concert ! :) THANK YOU BRYCE!!!!!!! THANK YOU WFMU!!!!!!!!!
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:18pm still b/p:

You gotta jump down turn around make a raga Friday, gotta jump down turn around make a raga day.
I gotta jump on the bike and ride to a haircut..at least the rain is a little less monsoon-like at the moment.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:18pm Cecile:

Yes! Perfect. i don't know how far I'll get on the fake cover, but maybe a draft will be ready.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:19pm slugluv1313:

@ jk -- ahhhhh!!!!! sounds like a Tiger Beat photo shoot to me!!!!! :) and you are absolutely right, Bryce MUST "wear" 12' LPs , EPs, 45s -- CDs and 7" records MUCH too *small* tee hee . . . !
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:20pm Cheri Pi:

The less we have, the more they'll want Cecile, it's like we always tell these young bands with true, power metal stars in their eyes.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:21pm Cecile:

the shoot had to be on a bearskin rug or else it looks too much like that Jay Reatard album cover.

that's true, Cheri. So true.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:22pm Cheri Pi:

We could use some male models, any age/size-no experience necessary.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:25pm Model Audition:

Does Bryce have a 7 inch, or a 12 inch?
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:26pm Marmalade Kitty:

Thats some impressive Tabla patter!
Fri. 10/14/11 12:26pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

Bryce uses the metric system
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:26pm Cheri Pi:

Resembling "Boy Governor" Stevens T. Mason is a plus.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:28pm BSI:

This here sound thing is dry-roasting my brainball.
galactic hotdamn to Bryce.
Fri. 10/14/11 12:28pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

  Fri. 10/14/11 12:32pm bryce:

stevens t. mason! hahaaaa, holy shit
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:34pm Cheri Pi:

I've said too much...
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:35pm annie:

(my personal opinion? it's sacrosanct to even imagine bryce anything but fully dressed and and grinning his grin) it's like imagining gandhi stripped down... now the image of mr. drummer rolling about in liner-notes.. yepper.. !!! There i said it..
Fri. 10/14/11 12:35pm channeling Michael Stipe:

I haven't said enough
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:36pm Cheri Pi:

Oh Annie, pass me the wet nap...
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:36pm BSI:

[suddenly THE RED PHONE at homeland security begins ringing like mad: google searches for "Stevens T. Mason" leap suddenly several thousand percent....... this must mean something!]
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:37pm annie:

cheri, you are a riot!
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:40pm annie:

can you imagine the trouble that ensues after even ONE of these comments events? chaos i say!! chaos!
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:40pm annie:

case in point: there STILL bedbugs in lady gaga halloween costumes!!
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:41pm Cheri Pi:

Damn, my first reaction after googling Stevens T. Mason- "I'd hit that"
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:47pm bryce:

  Fri. 10/14/11 12:47pm bruceleh:

I'm not much into Indian classical, but Raga Marwa is wonderful, thanks for a great choice.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:49pm bryce:

  Fri. 10/14/11 12:50pm BSI:

...we shall never forget thee, cupcake dog...
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:51pm bruceleh:

Quite haunting!
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:54pm Marmalade Kitty:

I've tuned my guitar down to the sitar chord..
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:55pm Mike East:

Ragas are just what I need today. Thanks Bryce. There's one that Scott McDowell was playing this morning that almost made me miss my bus because I didn't want to get out of the car.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:55pm Cheri Pi:

Bryce! Now I have to pledge.
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:56pm Mike East:

Marmalade Kitty - we rent Electric Sitars here. They are sooo much fun to play with!
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:58pm Marmalade Kitty:

could play all day! :) Mike, I want one!
  Fri. 10/14/11 12:58pm BSI:

Mike East: any electric bulbul tarangs?
that's the stuff...... very fun when played extremely incorrectly....
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:00pm bryce:

i just got a bulbul tarang day before yesterday...
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:02pm BSI:

jam at casa bryce!
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:04pm Mike East:

No we don't, BSI. Looks pretty awesome. I want to host a listener musician meetup sometime and just make some noise in one of the studios one of these days. Lots of toys to play with.
Fri. 10/14/11 1:05pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

speaking of which--Mike, any recommendations on a fairly inexpensive vocal processor that can pitch my voice way up and down?
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:05pm Marmalade Kitty:

sounds cool!
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:22pm ?:

damn, missed mian ki malhar. Bryce, could you play it again?
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:23pm bryce:

  Fri. 10/14/11 1:26pm Swami:

It is always playing again.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:28pm Ike:

Hey folks! Hot dang, that percussion is impressive.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:30pm Mike East:

hmm - I know more about guitar fx, but those usual work for vocals too, in interesting ways. any of those Boss or Digitech FX modules should have that kind of effect and are usually between $100-200 for the basic models. My favorite way to do that has always been to record on a 4 track and speed up or slow down the tape. Doesn't work live, though.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:33pm still b/p:

The good news is Aloo Palak for lunch. The not as good news is that it's from a Tasty Bites envelope. The bad news is I can't hear this in the company kitchen.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:33pm Cecile:

bryce, that bulbul tarang, better have that looked at....
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:37pm bryce:

oh, no worries, scott williams just lanced it for me
Fri. 10/14/11 1:37pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

yeah Mike, it also doesn't work well with digital recording! I was thinking Boss but then there are so many fancy pedals out there it's like goddamned candy
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:41pm Mike East:

@DCE - yes, it can be dangerous to go shopping. @still b/p - those envelope Indian foods are pretty good. I wish I had one right now as I don't have enough money in my pocket to have the real thing delivered.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:42pm BSI:

the Boss pitch transposer pedal I've got is just good for one-octave down, not up. (though it does have a nice grotty overdrive option) ... I used to have some mid-80s rackmount FX unit that went crazy high up as well as down, can't remember what the hell it was.

and oh crap, now with the curry talk, after my place across the street closed down a while back....
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:43pm Carmichael:

I'm running errands at lunch, and a new cafe opened near me. Thanks for the suggestion.
Fri. 10/14/11 1:44pm On this Mason Guy...:

buried 4 times. what happened to rest in peace? also, how random was this guy's introduction into this comment board?
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:45pm Carmichael:

My old Boss ME-50 floor unit will go up 1 octave. I like to wah wah my voice and use the grunge setting at the same time.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:45pm 90% dc pat:

busy as fuck, but KILLER track we're digging now...
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:47pm Cecile:

It's random and not random. muahahahahahahahah
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:47pm still b/p:

The envelope stuff ain't bad, but not as good as a restaurant version with naan and kulcha accompaniment and someone else's different dish at the table to sample.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:48pm Ike:

Hey Mike East, if you're anywhere near 39th & Bway, there's a good dosa cart. And a copycat, of course.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:48pm Cecile:

exactly right, sbp. Although a good quick cook recipe from a homesick Indian cook is a nice second. That's how I learned how easy most Indian food is too cook.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:49pm Mike East:

absolutely true, still b/p.
Fri. 10/14/11 1:50pm Van in Dallas:

What? That song is over already?
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:50pm 90% dc pat:

been eating Masala Arts in DC. good appetizers I haven't seen anywhere else...
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:51pm 90% dc pat:

yeah really, Van, I was JUST starting to get into it...
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:51pm Mike East:

@Ike - thanks for the tip. Unfortunately they don't let me leave for lunch, even though they take 45min. out of my pay everyday. If I could get outta here, I think I could make it there and back in 45 minutes.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:51pm Marmalade Kitty:

I have a zoom G7.1ut fx floor unit.. know anything about this gadget? seems to me you need a music engineering degree to understand it!
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:52pm hip:

Not yet, Van. It's pissing pause cut
Fri. 10/14/11 1:52pm Van in Dallas:

Bring on the fiddles!
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:54pm Cecile:

Ike, go bring Mike East some dosas. :D
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:55pm Mike East:

you fly, I'll buy!!
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:55pm Ike:

I would totally do that if I wasn't working from home in NJ!
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:56pm Cecile:

Ah, OK. Working at home is precious and should be chersished.
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:57pm 90% dc pat:

..unless your cats spend the day fighting around your feet...
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:58pm bryce:

i raised 2% today!
  Fri. 10/14/11 1:58pm Ike:

Not for me -- I can't concentrate too well here (e.g. what DC Pat said). I like compartmentalizing work vs. home. But I HAVE to work at home right now -- they're (VERY SLOWLY) moving my STUPID office from conveniently-located Midtown to the STUPID Upper East Side. GRRRRR! Two-hour commute in my future! BLLLARRRRGH.
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:01pm BSI:

dammit, somebody email me some lentils & onion kulcha... can't leave desk... drooling like a freak with at least one damaged chromosome...
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:03pm 92% dc pat:

alright Bryce, me too!
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:03pm 92% dc pat:

I gave up BSI, frozen Amy's crappy burrito for me...
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:04pm raga:

K. Sridhar took questions after a show here a while ago. in answer to one of the questions, he essentially dispelled the notion that ragas themselves are associated with a particular time of day. more specifically, the yogis established different tones to stimulate each chakra during specific times of day and the raga are derived from those tones.
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:09pm Marmalade Kitty:

Does this mean listening in different time zones still share the same chakra?
Fri. 10/14/11 2:10pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

this looks like it would f*ck my vox up nicely
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:10pm Marmalade Kitty:

..the same experience?
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:13pm raga:

i'll have to run it past the commissioner.
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:14pm bryce:

yeah, i generally ignore the whole samay associations here in new jersey. always wondered how much it's adhered to for performances on the subcontinent...
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:14pm Cecile:

I wonder if there is a chart like there is for Ramadan?
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:15pm Marmalade Kitty:

  Fri. 10/14/11 2:15pm bryce:

there's a decent one here:
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:24pm bryce:

yikes, sorry! comments went berzerko
Fri. 10/14/11 2:26pm Van in Dallas:

Yay comments
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:28pm BSI:

Bryce's Berzerko Lounge! It's Weird... weird... weird...
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:29pm Swami:

2% thermometer shift = Bad Karma on Commenters. Did you see it? Hint.
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:31pm bryce:

there's got to be some scrilla ragas
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:32pm bryce:

raag chupacabra
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:32pm BSI:

That does it. gonna have to tear the headphones off & walk an extra 2 blocks for a curry.... and conveniently pass by the Occupy DC hoarde, & see how they're coping with soggy tents.
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:34pm bryce:

seeya, kinderwurst
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:36pm still b/p:

Can someone write a song with lyrics made only from the crabby jeery descriptions of the protesters by pundits and online commenters?
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:39pm Josh:

Man, I'm totally feeling this Parween Sultana. It keeps getting better.
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:40pm bryce:

yeah, she's amazing.....
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:41pm Josh:

I didn't think it could get better than that Jog track, I was in the zone w/ that one. And then she just kills.
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:42pm Hugo:

Fine selection. Lately I've been exploring Carnatic ragas on somewhat unusual instruments. Some examples: Kadri Gopalnath (saxophone), U. Srinavas (mandolin) and R. Prasanna (electric guitar)!

A little info:
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:43pm Swami:

32 ---> 35. It's a start!
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:44pm bryce:

yay! now ken only gets to cut off 7 fingers
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:46pm bryce:

hugo, you've done it again....would you believe i brought all 3 of those guys with me?

(then i remembered we'd agreed to do time-appropriate raags today...)
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:48pm Hugo:

What can I say, Bryce, apart from impeccable taste?
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:48pm bryce:

[cue triangle]
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:50pm Marmalade Kitty:

great palates taste alike..?
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:52pm Jeff (jbm):

Raga against the machine!

(I bet everybody says that, and thinks they're the first.)
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:55pm at Sitarbucks:

I'll have a masala chai and a ragamuffin, please.
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:56pm Chinchilla:

My comrade and I are both really digging the vibes this is giving us at the workplace- Thanks Bryce for the universal cosmo vibes!
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:57pm bryce:

no pobs. thank you!
  Fri. 10/14/11 2:58pm Marmalade Kitty:

  Fri. 10/14/11 2:59pm Ike:

This show was so awesome, it could counteract the devastating effects of an evil troll doll from Hell.
  Fri. 10/14/11 3:01pm Ike:

"...it actually just sounds like more of this." LOL!
  Fri. 10/14/11 3:01pm Josh:

Yeah, this will def be a repeat-listen show.
  Fri. 10/14/11 3:01pm bryce:

allyall: toods!
  Fri. 10/14/11 3:02pm Marmalade Kitty:
