  12:28pm Cecile:

I always forget I hate the first part of the Kinks's Long Tall Sally and then after the scream and the guitar break, I love it.
  12:29pm Nordens fåglar:

  12:30pm Bad Ronald:

  12:41pm Cecile:

Cheri, I will have something to send you later tonight!
The boy governor will come to life!
  12:42pm pierre:

i'm cold, this surf guitar's helping feeling warm in the inside.

Bonjour Joe B, Bonjour, los Del-Listeners
  12:45pm Cheri PI:

I'm waiting on tenterhooks Cecile!
  12:45pm Nordens fåglar:

dick dale shreds some sick oriental pieces!
  12:48pm Cecile:

barrence!
  12:52pm Cheri PI:

Pierre, did you see Barrence in Paris?
  12:56pm PFFlyer:

Dang...missed first hour of show, busy yappin' about Los Straitjackets show last night in St. Paul MN...awesome as usual.
  12:59pm PFFlyer:

Bill Batson, Hypsterz - Mighty MoFo's infamy, on soundboard. Fantastic job...Pontani Sisters (2 of them anyway) cutting loose. Brooklyn Slide...well done!
  12:59pm Joe B:

PF, sounds cool. they are back in NYC Wednesday. Hi everyone who has checked in since the last hi!
  1:02pm pierre:

aarhhg… nnoooo i missed them… i suck at this
  1:05pm Cheri PI:

OK-I'll have to see them for both of us!
  1:07pm Cecile:

PFlyer, glad to hear that.
Billy's a great soundman and the Pontanis always bring the fun.
  1:08pm pierre:

yeah, and then you'll type me some dreams by giving me an idea of how it went… it looked so great.
  1:09pm glenn:

a soundman acquaintance of mine had a business card that read "anything you can do, i can do louder".
  1:09pm Cheri PI:

I promise Pierre. I'll ask them to dedicate a special song for you.
  1:10pm Joe B:

Glenn, i think you just gave me my new show description!
  1:11pm glenn:

you can thank mike dent.
  1:15pm Carmichael:

Aahh, the 1-0-friggin'-1-ers!!!!
  1:16pm Carmichael:

Joe, if you have time and room, the Chocolate Watch Band would be a rockin' thing.
  1:21pm PFFlyer:

Thanks JB, 4 the shout out 'bout LS & Ponti Sisters. Cecile, hope you caught Bill & his brother's bands when they arise from the ashes of the past occasionally...usually local MN.
  1:23pm PFFlyer:

Glen...turn it to eleven, heh?
  1:28pm glenn:

i wonder if there are enough covers of shangrilas songs to do a whole show.
  1:29pm seang:

been listening to the new Bo-Keys record-so damn funky
  1:29pm Joe B:

I could do an hour maybe! This counts as a Jay and the Americans cover for me however
  1:30pm Cecile:

Oh, yes - caught both the Mofos and the reconstituted Hypstryz several times.
  1:30pm glenn:

really? i always thought it was the shangrilas.
  1:32pm Joe B:

Yup, No. 5 on Billboard, 1962. pre Jay Black even!
  1:33pm glenn:

found on the interweb - "It's easier to bone the President's wife than to get a movie made." Ray Charles.
  1:33pm glenn:

so..... just the americans, then?
  1:34pm efd:

I love this single! Have to admit, this is the first version of this song that I heard.
  1:34pm Joe B:

Nope, Jay and the americans with original singer Jay Siegel, who is now in the Tokens. Del Shannon also did a great version
  1:36pm Joe B:

efd, I should have known you were the only other one to play it when it popped up on the playlist as I typed it in! sorry the Ian and teh Aztecs will be slightly used!
  1:38pm efd:

This is an outrage!
  1:38pm Cheri PI:

Hey, these boys are from up the street.
  1:42pm PFFlyer:

dang it glenn...I come here to get away from that kinda' talk. No offense, but I'm bringing myself up away from the 'blues' by listening to the blues and it's myriad of offshoots...ya' know? Anyway, C, must be near MN then....perhaps you'll recognize my bald head on FB. Crap...der went me bifocals...dank Gud parents made me learn keyboard back in the day.
  1:42pm Cecile:

funniest correction since Atom and HIs Package's "The Palestinians are not part of the Rebel Alliance."
  1:43pm Cecile:

Been in Minneapolis the last 20 yrs.. I freelanced for City Pages for a while.
  1:46pm PFFlyer:

C...born, raised, rocked...outta North Mpls...Suicide Commandos, Pistons blah blah blah...you know the rest probably...But, alas, I can't eat nostalgia, so we work the best we can, with, or w/o talent. Nice meetin' up w/ U.
  1:48pm Cecile:

Didn't know the rest, but nice crossing paths!
  1:49pm glenn:

i can't eat nostalgia is a better show description, joe.
  1:49pm Cecile:

Yeah, and I know about not being able to live on nostalgia. For sure!
  1:55pm PFFlyer:

C - talk to Bill B if U run into him at the Entry, whatever....I think he is an encylopedia to that almost forgotten Twin Cities series of events (thanks, Prince). Glenn, oh please, no...I don't want people to know my quote....but I didn't have it copyrighted, so run w/ it. Here it is...from me, 2 ya'll "You can't eat nostalgia" PFF, 2005, when I first realized this factoid. However, you sure can cash in on it, despite how crappy it sounds, you know what I mean?
  1:56pm Joe B:

I'll be trying to sell some nostalgia at the record fair this year, Sunday only, first time getting a table.
  1:58pm PFFlyer:

What I mean is: "VIVA JOE BELOCK!" Keepin' the faithful, well....faithful & true to our roots. I chat 2 much...duh.
  1:59pm PFFlyer:

Joe, don't make me come out there & buy stuff & then hitch hike back to MN.
  1:59pm Cecile:

not too much, PFF. LOL!

I should be selling some nostalgia to the Electric Fetus this weekend...
  2:02pm PFFlyer:

U know what's difficult? Trying to be hip w/ this groovin' crowd & chattin' with someone in Kenya.....OK JOe.....here comes the geetahs! PAY up suckahs! Or face my, ah, wrath?
  2:03pm PFFlyer:

uhhh...by the way....for the undereducated midwesterns....where do i go to, you know,....ahhhh....donate?
  2:04pm Cecile:

I wish I could.
I already pledged a tiny amount that's already twice as much as I budgeted.

PFF click on the banner at the top of the page...
  2:06pm Joe B:

thanks cecile, I know it's tough
  2:06pm Carmichael:

EVERYBODY, click on the banner at the top of the page. Please.
  2:07pm Cecile:

I mean, if I ever won powerball, you guys know you would be at the top of the list.
  2:08pm PFFlyer:

ah, crudola....I don't want anything....just take my money. Oh, I couldn't directly link up with the mistro of miscellanous JB...what do you recommmend if I have to "receive" a come-uppance for my pledge?
  2:09pm glenn:

maybe wfmu should hold a monthly lottery, even though that's probably illegal.
  2:10pm PFFlyer:

fyi....we do this in MN ALL the dang time....& it works for lesser programs than this!
  2:11pm glenn:

i kinda like blanche fubar's show on kfai.
  2:12pm PFFlyer:

oh oh...you let the kitty outta' the bag, G.
  2:14pm PFFlyer:

like how you ride a fence, Joe. Just play the music, & all will be OK.
  2:19pm efd:

folks, if I could play uninvited comments-board co-host for a moment: WFMU is one of the few radio stations in the country -- if not the world -- that is still 100% freeform and independent of any institution. All DJ's have total control over their shows. and no corporation, school, government entity, or anyone else can influence WFMU's programming (aside from the obvious FCC restrictions). We rely on contributions from listeners to remain on the air (and online), and we're trying this new silent (i.e., not on the air) fundraiser to help bridge the gap until our annual fundraising marathon early next year.

I know that times are tough and not everyone is able to pledge, but if you're able to kick in this month it would be GREATLY appreciated! We just learned that our commercial tenant won't be renewing their lease, which means we've now got to cover the $82k per year that we'll be losing as a result. And you don't have to take our swag if you don't want it, we'll gladly take your money and give you nothing in return!

Use the banner at the top left of the page to pledge NOW, and thank you!!
  2:22pm das:

I've pledged my max, does that mean I can now only listen at certain times of the day?
  2:23pm das:

Conversely, Scott H. Biram & Bob Log III was a great double bill
  2:24pm seang:

clap your tits
  2:26pm das:

I'm just being dumb Joe, ignore me!
@seang, and put them in my scotch
  2:27pm Joe B:

efd, thanks! appreciate the help. thanks everybody!
  2:28pm Cecile:

yeah, but there are those who lurk.
  2:29pm Joe B:

oh, ok das, I thought i missed a comment. I can't keep up with them like the great EFD!
  2:32pm Carmichael:

Joe & Evan, I'll need a full report on the beer situation this evening. Please don't leave out any details.
  2:33pm PFFlyer:

thanks for clearin' ip that god-beaver-damed swag bs that I really hate. I don't hate much, I'm simple...rock, then die. Don't have to give to receive IF someone, like this station, and a certain JB are doing what they love & passin' it on. Thanks....hope it helps & you don't go the way of the doodooooooh birds. Hang in there.
  2:33pm efd:

Yeah, I was going for the lurker pledges! Definitely don't mean to be badgering those who have pledged already. :)
  2:34pm Joe B:

thanks PF!
  2:34pm Cecile:

you can pledge $5 folks. That'll buy a big family pack of TP for the station.
  2:35pm Cecile:

I like swag, but I don't get tee shirts or stickers any more.
  2:36pm Cecile:

is English the Canary Sect's first language?
  2:36pm Carmichael:

I mouse-pledged last year, and got a big ol' box full of swag. My WFMU thumb drive is the envy of the IT bullpen.
  2:38pm Joe B:

@ Cecile, they are from Barcelona
  2:39pm Cecile:

ha! I was thinking Spain. Canary Islands are near Spain.
  2:40pm Kenzo:

Actually, if you knew WFMU DJ's, you'd know why we need TWO family packs of TP. So the minimum pledge is actually $10.
  2:40pm PFFlyer:

by the way, enlighten me....whatever happened to Kaiser George...and when will the HiRisers return to the tundra known as Minnesota, or Wisconsin, 4 that matter...anyone?
  2:43pm glenn:

canary islands are off the coast of africa. they were/ are a spanish colony.
  2:43pm Cecile:

oh, sorry Kenzo.
  2:44pm Cecile:

Okay, that's where I got the Spain connection, Glenn.
  2:46pm glenn:

if you can get there, go. the canary islands are wonderful. not as great as malta, but pretty great nonetheless.
  2:47pm glenn:

of course, now libya will be everybody's preferred destination. ha ha.
  2:47pm PFFlyer:

U go Joe...play what U know! Thanks! Also, I just heard U say "next summer"....so I know that all is well ( I hope) in the universe of 3 Chord Monte. Again....asking 4 for help is NOT illegal...yet...in the U S of freakin' A!
  2:55pm PFFlyer:

yeah...I'm on FB, & I believe there is no such thang as privacy anywhere, anymore...so I don't give a dang. Just look for a geezer in an old Joe Rocket jacket if you're remotely interested. That being said, looking for friends of the "sounds" we hear on this program. Simple: PaulF383... or publicly known as Paul Futch.....search the rest out if U want too. & yeah, we live day by day.....& the strat DOES change it's dimensions from time 2 time. We just try to evolve & hang in there at the same time.
  2:56pm Cecile:

well,we'll be following you whenever you go.
  4:31pm ?:

Apparently, the tickets the Three Chord Monte listener won for the Friday show are not to see the cool Atlanta-based group that Joe played at 2:15.
The Norton single Joe played was by the "Gaye Blades", whereas the group playing tomorrow at Maxwell's is the more local and not-so-good "Gay Blades".
