Listener comments!

  3:11am
Aaron in AVL, NC:

lovein this so far!
  3:11am
jj.:

thx, aaron. good morning frowskateers.
  3:12am
Aaron in AVL, NC:

god, that is not how you spell lovin. yikes.
  3:12am
Knile:

*stumbles in, dragging his coffee behind*
  3:12am
jj.:

and i was thinking you were making a pun involving love-ins!
  3:17am
Knile:

jesse, i heard an artist this weekend you & FSlisteners might like: Chubby Wolf, who was also half of Celer. Check out her Ornitheology album. Epic, sweeping ambient, very tender.
  3:17am
Julie:

Bad news, I am up this late..good news I finally get to hear Jesse live
  3:18am
maja:

Good morning. Very foggy over here. in this cocoon listening to the frow show, yes!
  3:18am
Julie:

Was it you I saw on the FMU firescape last night? Or am I mixing up DJ's that I never see
  3:20am
Knile:

Julie brings a good point that if i ran into Jesse in the street, I wouldn't recognize him, unless he spoke. Crazy, radio, crazy.
  3:20am
jj.:

nope, wasn't me. unless my body was projecting me someplace else when i wasn't looking.
  3:23am
Julie:

Ah..mysteries mysteries
  3:32am
jk:

Hey there frow kids,

JJ: I want to make a parallel with yr last comment: Is it related perhaps to when the sun looks straight down on you & sweeps the shadow right from your feet? Except it's about looking rather than not.

Man, is it feeling late.
  3:42am
Julie:

Play something from Flowers of Romance that's got some nice rhythms in it
  3:44am
jj.:

is it just straight drums? can't have any other instruments. forgot to mention that part!
  3:44am
Julie:

ohhh yeah you did. Don't know any drum only things
  3:45am
Julie:

Thanks now I feel dumb :p
  3:49am
fred:

I saw Steve Reich himself performing that last month.
As for drums only, Foot Village does that, with the occasional scream.
  3:50am
jj.:

good call on foot village. i'll go grab it.
  3:52am
jk:

okay: you gotta play this one because he's got the drum circle mantra down -- it's all drums + vox. are we cool with that?) Steve Reid Ensemble's 'Drum Story'
  3:55am
Knile:

Accidental lesson of the day: Swallowing laundry detergent may lead to vomiting.
  4:08am
jk:

'the planet provides free perpetual energy'

-- a line from the bloomberg drum circle organizer
  4:12am
BringsGoodThingsToLife:

Another groovy Jesse-collage?
  4:17am
jk:

Nice collage, JJ! That was fun, like the digital, sampled version of the old FMU call-in jam sessions i've heard about
  4:20am
jk:

(where listeners called in to live radio & jammed together on their instruments over the phone connection)
  4:26am
Julie:

Drum Story? Is that where the Jets and the Sharks rumble by playing drums?
  4:39am
jk:

Right on, Julie! Yeah they'd prolly had got out all their passions over percussion in that version. You doin an overdub?
  4:40am
jk:

Easy way to censor for kids -- put drum circle overdubs over the fight scenes ;)
  4:51am
BringsGoodThingsToLife:

Good vibes, turn that soothing reverb back on!
  4:52am
BringsGoodThingsToLife:

Yay!
  4:55am
Knile:

More The Last Waltz, please! :-)
  4:57am
BringsGoodThingsToLife:

Niiice. Just like the midget thing.
  4:58am
BringsGoodThingsToLife:

That said, I've seen the Wooden Shjipps side project, moon duo, a couple times. Pretty groovy, basically takes the whole wooden shjips sound and reduces it to 2 people.
  5:00am
jj.:

yeah, moon duo are great!
  5:04am
oo:

hi jesse, great move with el paso. it was a nice DS and one i wouldn't have otherwise checked out seeing that in the middle (i typically like mine with the eleven).
  5:04am
BringsGoodThingsToLife:

I only heard the shjips after and I was disappointed that it wasn't much more complex.
  5:10am
jj.:

oo: with you on the eleven. sadly, a lot of great '71/'72 jams have weir tunes nestled in the middle like that. don't let it deter you!
BGTTL: i dig the shjips a lot, but keep hoping they'll move past the pulse-rock in some way.
  5:13am
BringsGoodThingsToLife:

I've seen at least 5 or 6 bands cloning that sound, but with depressingly little invention beyond the typical reverb trope. For someone who sees as much music as I do, it really makes me sad.
  5:22am
BringsGoodThingsToLife:

Sounds like it's about time for bed. XD
  5:24am
jj.:

probably. but someone's gotta make the donuts.
  5:46am
BringsGoodThingsToLife:

Really loving this set. Thanks J.

  5:49am
greysoul:

Another pre-dawn blast of Golden Radio, Mr. DJ.

Blessings and extra gravy upon you, sir.
  5:54am
jj.:

thanks dudes!
