Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Another week - another episode. Seems I just blink my eyes and I am climbing the steps to the broadcast studios of WFMU each week. I hope you have been following these Occupy Wall Street shows. I realize it is not something that everyone is interested in and I hope I am not alienating anyone. Since I love to do on-the-street interviews, OWS has provided me with a great opportunity to get inside something vital, exciting and ever-changing. As for myself, I started as an observer and have ended up getting a bit caught up in it along the way. Not sure where it;s leading, but I guess I am along for the ride and am hoping for the best. I hope you'll continue to tune-in. I'm sure that soon I'll do more music shows, theme shows. stories, live stuff, Triumvirate, etc. ----- Hope you are surviving the holiday hectic-ness. Life is good! Until next time, my friends, Take care and ... Always Remember.

Clay Pigeon - NYC

PS - Drop me an email (nooooo!) I'd love to hear your thoughts on OWS or any subject of interest to you. My mailbox has been cobweb-laden of late. OK. That's all.

  6:03pm
Clay:

Here.
  6:04pm
kata:

hi Clay!
  6:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hello Clay!
Nice change to agricultural and environmental issues in the OWS series. Like a Rolling Stone/Mother Jones sustainable agriculture article presented to us in real time!
  6:04pm
phillip:

And the saga continues. OWS
  6:05pm
phillip:

Monsanto needs to go down.
  6:05pm
Clay:

Hi Kata. Hello Matt. Always nice words from you, sir. Hello Phillip.
  6:06pm
david:

"consumptive" hmm. Dermit on the other hand...
  6:06pm
seang:

Occupy Boston is facing eviction tonight
  6:07pm
Matt from Springfield:

@phillip: Let's all pick an industrialized agricultural conglomerate to rip on! I'm going with: Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM)!
  6:09pm
frances:

Your OWS/Occupy Milwaukee/etc coverage is so great. I've been a fan of you for years and as soon as OWS began: I hoped you'd be on the street covering it. I've been happy to share links to your archived shows with all my friends...
  6:09pm
Paul McC:

All your life...
You were only waiting for this moment to arrive.
  6:10pm

I love Fabio and his show but he's been drinking too much MSM if he thinks OWS is winding down...

TY so much Frances.

this is beautiful -- John Lennon would be proud I think -- strawberry and other fields forever...thank you, Clay.
  6:13pm
Clay:

TY Paula. :>)
  6:14pm
Clay:

Matt ... that was a good idea. DuPont
  6:14pm
david:

I'm surprised Yoko hasn't been more visible at OWS events, though I know Sean has been down to Zuccotti...
  6:15pm
frances:

I'm hopeful to think that this case http://www.beckersettlement.com/ (I was one of the arrestees) , the largest class action settlement of protestor claims in U.S. history, is part of why the DC police have been a bit more restrained than other cities.
  6:15pm
Clay:

Guess people want to see which way the wind blows with it, David.
  6:16pm
Clay:

Restrained is good.
  6:17pm
Blee:

US foods should be required to label all GMO foods.
  6:17pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Clay 6:14: You probably know of quite a few, that dominate IA and WI!
  6:19pm
phillip:

@ Matt: has to be Cadbury for me.
  6:19pm
Clay:

Especially these days, Matt.
  6:22pm
kata:

I started eating (almost) 100% organic about 10 years ago, it is quite remarkable the difference; non-organic vegetables have less flavor and are harder, almost brittle compared to organic.
  6:22pm
frances:

Shout out to Ackley,IA (where my husband is from)
  6:23pm
Clay:

Wow, Frances! Ackley!
  6:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

@kata: Tomatoes especially. In fact the only tomatoes I really eat (and eat with vigor!) are HOME-grown tomatoes when they're ripe, August to September. No comparison to the store kinds!
  6:24pm
Clay:

My wife has been making kale. Very darned good.
  6:25pm
mark from VT:

sometimes I wonder if we are fighting for change and on the other hand want it to be the way it used to be, or was supposed to be...I guess that is the big battle ahead for us all....what the heck is ahead of us...we don't know. The best we can come up with is examples from the past
  6:25pm
frances:

Yes, I've mentioned this before in prior emails to you. =) I've got a bunch of IA photos on Flickr. Maid Rite rules, ok!
  6:25pm
phillip:

I rarely ever come across anything organic that has had a bad texture or taste. As for conventional, it was mostly disappointing.
  6:25pm
Marmalade Kitty:

grow your own! good on ya!!
  6:25pm
frances:

Lacinato kale is my favorite of the kales, not so easy to find on the east coast. I still want to make kale chips!
  6:26pm
Clay:

Maid-Rites do rule. Don't worry Mark. Good days ahead.
  6:26pm
Clay:

The Marm. Hello!
  6:26pm
frances:

(and yes , I grow my own kale. Among other veggies)
  6:27pm
kata:

@matt - also broccoli is a good barometer. Making organic broccoli at home, it is so sweet and flavorful. Then I go to a restaurant and the broccoli has no flavor. I live on the west coast where many markets carry ONLY organic vegetables, it's fantastic!
  6:28pm
Matt from Springfield:

Shout out to Maine farmers!
@kata: Never thought of organic broccoli--thanks for the suggestion.
  6:28pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Hi everyone! great show Clay!
  6:28pm
Matt from Springfield:

Evening, MK!
  6:29pm
phillip:

Is Chick-fil-a still filing a lawsuit against the "Eat More Kale" guy?
  6:29pm
kata:

@Clay - tried kale for the first time when I moved west in late 90s. It is great and super good for you! I love dinosaur / black kale.. I think Lancinato is the same, right @Frances?
  6:29pm
david:

what Cash track/album is this?
  6:31pm
frances:

@kata : you are correct! I only recently learned that Lacinato= Dinosaur kale from my neighbor as we discussed veggies & life on the bus...
  6:31pm
kata:

Also, have you ever had a home grown strawberry? Tiny incredible bursts of beautiful sweetness! You'll never go back to those flavorless behemoths at shop rite ever again...
  6:31pm
Clay:

David, that was Tommy Cash, Johnny's younger brother (eight-year's difference in age). From the LP, Six White Horses.
  6:32pm
david:

thanks Clay, wow, sounds so much like Johnny...
  6:32pm
Matt from Springfield:

@VT Mark: What should we fight for? The past, present and future. Whatever is, was or can be sustainable, healthy and just, in food and society. That's how I would sum it up :)
  6:34pm
mark from VT:

I love the USA. But because I love freak shows and uncertainty. The biggest freak show is how we all live and survive in a wacky capitalism/fascism nation with most people not realizing it. Much of the fun is watching "activists" in their futile attempts at wanting "change"
  6:35pm
Matt from Springfield:

@kata: I used to eat tiny wild strawberries that grew in my yard! I wonder how much more flavor a full sized one will have. (I also eat wild berries in the local park, and wild grapes (also tiny) in the Appalachians).
  6:36pm
Marmalade Kitty:

we need response from the power that be. They must acknowledge the concerns and home truths OWS has raised. Acknowledgement is the most important demand..!!!!
  6:36pm
Clay:

Interesting, Mark. It is wacky. Not futile, though!
  6:38pm
Half Baked:

"MARIJUANA??? That is some BULLLSHIT!"
  6:39pm
mark from VT:

I suppose it is not all futile. change does come.
  6:40pm
kata:

It seems to me that in the occupy movement, age is irrelevant and I love that. There is wisdom at every level of life. This young homeless fella has some good points about how our focus on money pulls us apart.
  6:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

Infrasound, aka Extremely low frequencies, aka Subsonic:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrasound
  6:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

It does affect how you think and feel: some horror movies overdub infrasound as a (cheapshot) way to increase physical uneasiness and anxiety in an audience.
  6:43pm
Clay:

It is a cheap shot

but I am thinking to myself that the change we really want will continue to haunt us 30 years from now. Think about 30 years from now. Will we still have camps and OWS? Something will change to end this. And school kids will be told about it. But really, thirty years from now!! same shit going on in part.
  6:46pm
?:

Who can speak about 30 years from now? 30 years ago the wealth inequality in this country was much less.
  6:47pm
Clay:

I'll be 83.
  6:47pm

peaceful protest is never in vain
  6:47pm

@MK: There's some more "repossessing" of abandoned homes! Yes!
  6:54pm
Clay:

Thanks for your support as I've been doing all these OWS shows. I appreciate it. I never counted on doing so many.
  6:54pm
mrmucho:

gee, looks like the Dusty Show didn't make the winter schedule! this OWS spinoff is about as good as "Gloria"
  6:54pm
Matt from Springfield:

The common law once said that if you squatted on abandoned property for two years, it was yours. It needs to be that way.
  6:54pm

Take care you guys. Always remember.

thanks Clay, love these stories from people!

30 years from now Chuck Norris will still be alive, amazingly. He decided, in his old age, that he would allow the OWS to keep going.
  6:56pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thank you, Clay!
Every time the show topic is announced, I wonder if you've done too many Occupy shows. Then I listen and realize this is continually important, and there's always something new to discover! This food one is even more amazing and new!
  6:56pm

thanks for playing one of my favorite songs, Clay. Always remember.

Good night guys. Hope never dies, until it kills you.

Peace to John Lennon, 31 years ago.
"Across The Universe" is such a nice fit for the occasion and this particular episode.
  6:58pm
mark from VT:

Chuck Norris loves the OWS so much that he once round house kicked the movement to Mars just to see if it had any remote chances of surviving.
  6:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

Good night everyone!
Another great one Clay!
  6:59pm
Marmalade Kitty:

The Dusty show is *always* relevant..!
  6:59pm
frances:

just the facts!
  7:04pm
mark from VT:

Clay once round house wished someone into a garbage can. But he felt bad after. The other guy, I mean.
  7:07pm
Night Al:

Oh waiter, there's a GMO in my soup.
