Hi Cheri, PFF, Kat, Seang and eyenoise! thanks for tuning in!

Steve, you are too kind! Happy new year to you kat, never too late to say it! Glenn, yeah, Jimmy page helping himself to an old song! no surprise there!
  1:30pm glenn:

actually, i thought that was jeff beck, but i'm not sure.
  1:31pm PFFlyer:

"Still as..." great music to do taxes and the books by. Then, on to Wisconsin to overhaul another transmission. My next song will be titled "The desk & the dirt".
  1:31pm glenn:

not that i care too much, i love the yardbirds for the most part.
  1:31pm Joe B:

one of the few with beck and page together
  1:34pm Andy B.:

Sounding good Joe! just tuned in during this set... better late than never!
  1:36pm Mike Sin:

Thinking out loud here... What Jimmy Page has done is, of course, wrong, but I think he gets the most notoriety because of the money that he's generated. It was, unfortunately, a common practice... The post-war, barely educated bluesmen didn't have a lawyer, at the time, looking over the specs of a publishing contract... Most of the time if was, "I'll give you $250 for that song" and a handshake. That said, one would have thought that Page would have wanted to treat his "heroes" with a bit more respect.
  1:38pm Andy B.:

I heard Ann Page did that with most of her ice cream recipes
  1:38pm PFFlyer:

U can bury the books, but dirt don't die....
  1:43pm Mike Sin:

re: Hot Knives
IIRC, Midnight Records, on 23rd st. in NYC, had the original single of Hot Knives' version of "Hey Grandma" up on the wall for years.
  1:44pm Joe B:

sup Andy! I hear ya Mike!
  1:44pm Joe B:

wow, if I saw it I didn't make the connection. I'm sure I read about these cats at some point but slipped my mind or something.
  1:51pm Mike Sin:

Up until recently, I just always thought the Hot Knives were the Groovies' in disguise just to cut the one-off cover of "Hey Grandma."
  1:54pm Bluesman:

Happy New Year JB (and Mike Sin too!)
  1:55pm Joe B:

Blues! missed you at Norton! were you there? happy new year!
  1:56pm Bluesman:

...and wasn't there a Hot Knives flexi in some mag from years back? Bucketful of Brains perhaps?
  1:56pm Mike Sin:

The speed of that version of "At the Hop" could not have been imagined without Sha Na Na at Woodstock!
  1:57pm Joe B:

great point Mike!
  1:57pm Bluesman:

No, was too slow on getting fix for my preferred night(s). Just as well since we were going through a bit of health crisis with momma blues.
  1:57pm Mike Sin:

Bluesman -- Hold, maybe that's what up on the wall?

Happy new year!
  1:58pm Joe B:

sorry to hear it, sending our best wishes!
  2:00pm Bluesman:

Howard Stern used to say that Sha Na Na got the Woodstock gig with the understanding that they would have to clean up the grounds after the festival.
  2:02pm Bluesman:

Thanks Joe. Mom is doing much better.
  2:03pm Bluesman:

Off to the gym to sweat to the rest of the show. See ya!
  2:08pm Mudcat:

Thank you for quoting Bob Murphy
  2:11pm Thierry:

Happy new year Joe! Last wednesday, Les Kitschenettes came to play in Lille, north of France. They were stunned when I mentionned Joe Belock!
.. and they added the live set at WFMU was a truely great experience.
  2:16pm das:

HNYJoe, one day I'll remember you are on Tuesdays again
  2:24pm Joe B:

Hi Thierry! merci beaucoup! Hi das and Mudcat!
  2:29pm PFFlyer:

I'll say it for you: " nORRTTin!"
  2:29pm PFFlyer:

oh, & thanx 4 my daily needed dose of DC5.
  2:32pm dc pat:

that WAS killer DC5 tune.
  2:44pm Scott W:

Yonkers, yes - this is what Loutallica should sound like!
  2:45pm PFFlyer:

oooh....tought call on artist for Man or Astro...Shockwave...I've got it on tape somewhere around here....but you'll be off the air by the time I find it. Heard it live at one point in my life, but can't quite place it in Minnesota...
  2:47pm kat330:

Really fine show, Joe! JT (aka Jasperodus) will be sorry he's now back at the office (where he can't stream), but I'll point him to your archive. Your music sensibilities are very much in tune with ours (along with a variety of other FMU DJs). Thanks!
  2:48pm bill:

Scott W: Good point!
  10:55pm Joe B:
