Listener comments!

  3:01am
T-Zero:

Morning!
  3:02am
G:

a son et lumiere show (that's what they call them in France, anyway) -- i'm assuming the pic is from the UK...
  3:06am
ausmanx:

that's York Minster... good evening and HNY, though the Chinese one will be even better this year... it's the Year of the Dragon in a couple of weeks
  3:07am
Julie:

Good morning, T-Zero, G & Ausman!
  3:07am
G:

yeah, Chinese NY early this year, Jan 29 parade here in NYC I was told tonight
  3:12am
miss cheri:

julie,,i just want to let you know that my two favorite tunes by the cake are "you can have him" (i know they covered it but they're version is much better,,do you agree?) and the second fave tune is annabelle clark cause i love the ending where they talk over the music sounding like silent night....what are you're thoughts about this?
  3:13am
Julie:

@Cheri We've talked about this before
  3:15am
other david:

a little late, but still, made it - good morning all :)
  3:15am
miss cheri:

i hope you have a great week julie,,i'll see you soon,, good night!
  3:16am
Julie:

Goodnight. @OD Good morning!
  3:16am
Julie:

Just to let you know, I won't be back announcing tonight, I've got throat issues so I'm talking as little as possible.
  3:17am
miss cheri:

i hope you feel better julie,,
  3:19am
Julie:

thanks Cheri
  3:19am
Loft:

Whiskey, hot water ,lemon and sugar for a bad throat. Good morning
  3:20am
other david:

aw, cripes you're not having a lot of luck :(

hope you get well soon julie

+1 on the whiskey suggestion!
  3:21am
Julie:

@Loft good morning! Not hot water, hot makes the vocal cords swell, warm only. Lemon is also an irritant I believe. Whiskey sounds good though!
  3:25am
Loft:

Aye, sorry. everything except the hot water ,lemon and sugar
  3:25am
T-Zero:

Substitute the honey for sugar (less granular) and that will cut the lemon's acidity
  3:27am
T-Zero:

oops I meant to say... substitute honey for the sugar...
  3:27am
Loft:

or put a Bailey's with it, that's nice and smooth.
  3:30am
Julie:

yum now I want a drink
  3:33am
Loft:

oooohhhh not heard this for donkey's years.
  3:34am
Julie:

it is such a lovely album..takes me back many many years, and it was old then
  3:36am
fred von helsing:

(belatedly) Yeay!
  3:36am
Julie:

Morning FVH!
  3:42am
other david:

gentle beautiful part of the set
  3:48am
Julie:

You're making me doubt the loud one I have coming up at the end of the set!
  3:50am
other david:

oi, don't spoil the surprise :P

they're the best part of any set
  3:50am
Julie:

haha oops
  4:01am
Loft:

horrible voice ? you're having me on !
  4:02am
Julie:

It's much raspier than usual..
  4:03am
Loft:

well i'm new here you see
  4:04am
Julie:

I'm on my way to sounding like Allison Steele
  4:05am
T-Zero:

You don't actually sound raspier at the moment, just a bit of a deeper tembre
  4:10am
other david:

careful julie:

"He said most men found presenter Mariella Frostrup's voice "mesmerising" because it was deep, slow and confident."

France-A-Go-Go !
  4:13am
Matt from Springfield:

I understand the "LSD" part!

Morning Julie! Morning everyone!
  4:14am
T-Zero:

Ok commenters... this has nothing to do with the program... I've been cataloging my music collection and I need your help. Simon Topping on the factory benelux label, where is he from?
  4:14am
Julie:

@Matt good morning!
  4:14am
Matt from Springfield:

Could that have been a French pun, like "elle est dit"? They do that sometimes:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L.H.O.O.Q.
  4:15am
other david:

I must confess I only knew the Free Kitten version of Teenie Weenie Boppie... consider me edumacated!
  4:16am
Matt from Springfield:

Hope your throat feels better Julie.
  4:16am
Julie:

@OD I didn't know that one!
  4:17am
ausmanx:

isn't Topping from A Certain Ratio (Manchester)?
  4:18am
Matt from Springfield:

Cowboy Junkies!! The Trinity album is a nice listen, highly rec.
  4:18am
Loft:

aye, he is
  4:19am
Matt from Springfield:

@TZ: Do you catalogue your music by location? That's hard to do considering different origins of different people in a band, but as a geographer I commend your effort!
  4:19am
T-Zero:

Hmmm, I don't know if that's the same Simon Topping. Did that one do the Prospect Park album? Discogs classifies him as electronic latin, but I have him as latin jazz
  4:19am
Julie:

Later Junkies got really boring, to me anyway
  4:22am
T-Zero:

@Matt: No. In the dbase I only enter recording artist (indiv/group), recording title, track names, genre, subgenre, styles, released/reissued, label and where the individual or group primarily originated from (if a group, the group's primary origin, not the individual members)
  4:22am
ausmanx:

if it's Factory, then yes it's the ACR guy, i'd say. and yes, the first 2 Cowboy Junkies wonderful, then awful
  4:23am
Matt from Springfield:

I don't know what if any stuff the Junkies did later--I think their cover of "Powderfinger" was from the 2nd album.
  4:24am
T-Zero:

@ausman: Ok. Thank you! I'll go with that ;) The recording (vinyl) I have is defintely from Benelux 1985 produced in Belgium
  4:25am
Matt from Springfield:

You are quite thorough in your database, T-Zero!
  4:26am
Loft:

not the same one then
  4:26am
Loft:

not the same one then
  4:27am
T-Zero:

Do ACR do acid jazz?
  4:27am
Julie:

Usually I sing along, tonight I am drumming the table
  4:27am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie Have you played any new Mazzy? Their album isn't announced yet but they have a new single out.
  4:28am
ausmanx:

ACR did all that skewed Latin stuff, which is probably where Discogs gets the category from. and i fell obliged to stress the MANX part of the name here, cos I'm Manx, like the Bee Gees...
  4:29am
Julie:

@Matt nope I didn't know that.
  4:30am
Loft:

...with 3 legs
  4:30am
T-Zero:

@ausmanx: Yeah. Sorry... that was an unintentional type in your name... I think you're absolutely right about Topping. Thanks!

@Matt: yeah. but trying to decide the genre, subgenre and styles makes me really nutso
  4:32am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: Yeah, IRWIN is ahead of YOU on that one! :)
We had a short discussion on that Nov 23--that's when I found out. Wiki says the album is yet to be announced, but the single is def out.
  4:36am
T-Zero:

@Matt: And I note what medium(s) I have it on (eg vinyl cd mp3, cassette)
  4:38am
Loft:

how do you find the time ? fair play to you.
  4:39am
Dave B:

Sleep... Who needs it?
  4:40am
T-Zero:

I've been doing it while I listen here ;) and in between other stuff I do.

I've completed the cassettes, and am working on the vinyl currently...
  4:40am
Matt from Springfield:

Ahhh---do I hear surface noise?? :)
I have an original edition Abbey Road myself (one of the few first releases I inherited from my parents, well that's in good condition anyway!)
  4:40am
T-Zero:

That was for Loft btw
  4:40am
other david:

Dave B o/

No sleep here last night
  4:41am
Dan:

  5:03am
Matt from Springfield:

Have a great day, OD!

@Julie: T-Rex cover?
  5:06am
fred von helsing:

I'm waiting for Bis (DBA PowerPuff Girls) to do a cover of some ridiculous yé-yé tune, feat. Mojo Jojo as Serge Gainsbourg
  5:06am
Julie:

@OD bye!
  5:07am
Julie:

@Matt I don't think so, but they had a T. Rex song on their first album
  5:09am
ausmanx:

  5:18am
Dave B:

I get no cut. Just a fan... And the NY Hall Of Science is a good venue. I need my fix of midi controlled tesla coils. Not cheap, but it'll be my birthday gift to myself.
  5:18am
Julie:

I don't even know that venue..or much of the new album.
  5:20am
Dave B:

Not really a venue in the traditional sense. A leftover building from the 1964 Worlds Fair. I don't think I've been there since a 5th grade field trip...
  5:20am
ausmanx:

well i started early today with a meeting so i'm leaving work early today too, so evening all and see you next week, thankx julie and enjoy the rest of the show and comments. the throat should just be used as an excuse to stay in bed...
  5:21am
