I wasn't aware that Cthulhu was a pole-dweller.

Re: platitudes- I'm sure getting sick of people keep telling me that.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:03pm G:

Don't radio shows actually offer plattertudes?
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:04pm AnAnonymousParty:

I heard things were bad in Nome, but yikes!

  Wed. 1/18/12 3:09pm Lizardner Dave:

This should be the theme song to Keilli's "Station Manager Ken Pronouncing Things" segment.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:09pm βrian:

Je n'en comprends rien !
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:09pm Caryn:

That pic clearly shows the earlier, creepier version of "The Year Without Santa Claus". If you think the Snow Miser looks frightening, wait until you see the Heat Miser!

Wayne Newton: THAT is how you pronounce "danke schön"!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:11pm Sam Elliot:

I got my mama a horse.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:14pm Matt from Springfield:

See, living in a trailer park is hazardous. Same behavior any where else will give you a better chance than the same thing happening in a trailer park.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:15pm G:

Just figured it out: That pic is from the Land of the Misfit JPEGs.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:16pm Alison Porchnik:

@Matt - that's because trailer parks are magnets for tornadoes.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:18pm Otis:

gimme Melies any day over cgi....
Wed. 1/18/12 3:19pm Matt from Springfield:

Cut Copy - I'm Zonoscoping out to them...
Wed. 1/18/12 3:20pm Matt from Springfield:

@Alison: Divorce or tornado--either way someone's losing a trailer.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:21pm Alison Porchnik:

Why is Irwin speaking in a funny country accent?
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:22pm Agitant:

FEMA has trailers for all of us.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:24pm Matt from Springfield:

Wat! Whose takin'way my RUM??!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:24pm Caryn:

In Sweden, they approved piracy as a religion a few weeks ago.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:24pm Parq:

So, no hippie noise during your time slot? Well, no more than usual ...
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:24pm seang:

all right!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:24pm Jess:

If you really need wikiknowledge... google your searchterm + wikipedia and you can access the cached version of the page
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:25pm Jack Sparrow:

Why is the rum gone?
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:25pm pseu:

hmmm...this song sounds familiar...
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:25pm Droll:

If they're taking away my rum, I'll just go on the Internets and learn to make my own. Oh crap! Rum recipes are blacked out! We're doomed!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:25pm Alison Porchnik:

Jess, you just ruined everything!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:25pm Authoritarian:

First off, everyone's been complaining about American job losses, and the more competitive Chinese--that's why we need this so-called censorship law. It will be like China's firewall, but built right here in the U-S-A!!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:25pm kat330:

Planned to keep mum today, but gotta say thanks for the Finn bros.

  Wed. 1/18/12 3:26pm Authoritarian:

Beat me to it, Jess!
In fact after midnight last night the front page was blacked, but you could still search for articles in Google. Same way now, but you need to look up the cache.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:26pm Irwin:

@pseu: hey, I asked!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:27pm pseu:

not last week you didn't!
Wed. 1/18/12 3:28pm Matt from Springfield:

Shit, that's not very authoritarian, forgot to change back to my personality AGAIN!

Say, what if..like Dr. Jekyll, I reach a point where I DON'T change back, huh!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:28pm Irwin:

@pseu: Oops! There goes half of today's show.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:28pm Otis:

Ditto on Crowded, kat. Must be 1st time on wuf-moo.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:29pm Haughty Blowhard:

I feel "Don't Dream It's Over" to be one of the 80's better songs.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:30pm kat330:

If dogs smelled like cats, and if they made their business independently and otherwise behaved independently (no effusive fawning over us), I might even prefer them to cats.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:31pm Matt from Springfield:

Lee Morgan 2x again!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:32pm Alison Porchnik:

Nothing wrong with that smooth jazz sound. It's a hell of a lot better than smooth rock.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:32pm Matt from Springfield:

I remember when Italian Wikipedia was blacked out because of a similarly stupid law pending in Italy. I'll always remember, because I saw on Wiki's front page that Steve Jobs died--and that "Italian Wikipedia goes on strike"--I immediately went for that news item instead.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:33pm Matt from Springfield:

@Alison: Jazz that's smooth ain't the same thing as "smooth jazz", at least not where radio branding is concerned.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:33pm Haughty Blowhard:

I feel smooth jazz to be the Muzak™ of the modern era.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:33pm Alison Porchnik:

that's why I wote "smooth jazz sound."
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:34pm Otis:

dogs lick and hump too much.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:36pm Alison Porchnik:

@Otis, there is no such thing as "too much" in regard to those behaviors. In humans.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:36pm Dogs:

No we don't.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:36pm kat330:

@Otis: And then there's this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nY-XK1UG3eU
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:37pm Cat:

@Dogs: Stop licking me.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:38pm bruceleh:

Damn! Missed the Stew!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:40pm a dim handsome setter:

Lick me, I'm Irish.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:40pm Otis:

@kat precious and not in gollum way. all we need is love and not the stinky humpy licky kind. insert pecker joke.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:41pm Younger Generation:

Eddie Murray? Wasn't he some comedy actor from the 80s?
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:41pm Alison Porchnik:

There's that weird country accent again.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:41pm Variety:

"By day, an ordinary drywall salesman, by night, with a cigar in one hand and a Manhattan in the other, Eddie croons the night away ..."
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:42pm Ferrets:

We're here when you're ready.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:42pm kat330:

i don't believe "groove" is the accurate term for this.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:42pm slugluv1313:

oh Irwin, SO WONDERFUL to hear some rockin' EDDIE MURRAY!!!!!!! TOTALLY redeemed a thoroughly CRAPPY day -- i am GLOWING WITH JOY NOW!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:42pm Otis:

contempo country=dog
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:42pm Alison Porchnik:

There's got to be a connection between the Wikipedia blackout and Irwin's accent today.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:43pm Jack Nicolson:

Is that me on the radio?
Wed. 1/18/12 3:44pm Matt from Springfield:

WWHERRRRRE is this city?
Wed. 1/18/12 3:44pm kme in chi:

Someone please give this man a map
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:44pm Droll:

I thought he was singing in a high register... then he hit the gearshift... and the second gearshift. Soon only mice will be able to hear him.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:44pm Jennique:

You lost me on this Irwin. I'm out.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm Caryn:

Irwin has blacked out his normal accent in protest. Or maybe it's like those people who awake from comas talking in foreign accents. The morning shock of not accessing wiki knowledge shocked his system so much, his brain got scrambled and he speaks with a new accent.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm G:

Irwin's regular delivery has been blacked out in an attention-getting anti-censorship protest. His original delivery is still cached on the archive.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm Alison Porchnik:

and a loaded gun.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Some explanation of Kopimism, formed recently in Sweden - http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn21334-kopimism-the-worlds-newest-religion-explained.html
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm still b/p:

He just won a hog calling contest eight states away and eight months early.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm Matt from Springfield:

Ah, the great YouTube. It's been the "savior" to the Incorrect Music scene. It taps an infinite supply around the world, and easier to listen to than even homemade cassettes!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm Bob:

  Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm AnAnonymousParty:

This'll be good when his voice gets out of 2nd gear.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm SW:

Make it stop!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm Caryn:

It's Amanda after a sex change. In other words: oy.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:45pm lewis:

incorrectness returns!!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:46pm G:

that's all he's doin? that wasn't ENOUGH??
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:46pm Fritz Rutschky:

Hi there!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:47pm Chinchilla:

Contemporary country = CORN DAWG!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:47pm G:

@Ken HP: So would there be a freedom-of-religion exemption to SOPA or PIPA?
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:49pm kat330:

@Otis: That "carrot" video is better than Sea World as a happy place to go. Someone should let Andy know about it.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:49pm Irwin:

I really love this XtrmMindz. Thanks for discovering it, Otis!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:51pm kat330:

THIS is a groove, ayep. And Irwin's "accent" today doesn't sound country to me (who is surrounded by authentic country accents).
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:51pm Caryn:

Interesting "Uptown Girl" sample...
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:53pm Mick Jagger:

It's a gas gas gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:53pm Alison Porchnik:

  Wed. 1/18/12 3:54pm Otis:

whos andy?!
Wed. 1/18/12 3:54pm Matt from Springfield:

More of these old science songs! If there was a cartoon to go with this as a soundtrack...
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:54pm Dan B From Upstate:

This song is a gas.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:55pm Otis:

irwin, my pleasure i'm sure.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:55pm kat330:

What's good about Irwin's show is he gives us online listeners ample opportunities to refresh our streams.
@Otis: Breckman of FMU's 7SD, Monk and gutter helmet fame.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:57pm Matt from Springfield:

Re: TMBG--I think is "The Sun Is A Mass Of Incandescent Gas"
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:57pm Stark Effect:

Hi Otis!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:58pm Otis:

wrong Otis, less baffled now.
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:58pm Alison Porchnik:

Yes it is. And they recently recorded a trippy revision based on recent scientific findings: "The sun is a miasma of radioactive plasma," or something to that effect.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@G - I have no idea how this stuff works.
Wed. 1/18/12 3:59pm Matt from Springfield:

It's Pseu's 4-and-a-half-day Delay, on Irwin's show!
  Wed. 1/18/12 3:59pm bruceleh:

Pseu, when do you go back to your 'regular' show?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:00pm Glutton 4 Punishment:

More James Canupp! I'm ready for him!
(slides down rocky cliff)
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:01pm G:

Kenny used to "err"!
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:02pm Otis:

@kat nerver home to hear delay.. delayed on the road.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:02pm Pea Divider:

I have had just about enough of this. Just about enough, but not quite enough.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:03pm Alison Porchnik:

The Carpenters can never offend, as far as I'm concerned.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:03pm Matt from Springfield:

So THAT'S who Nick The Bard is, I've heard him mentioned before, didn't know who he was.

The Wed late late slot is filled! The suspense is over!
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:03pm G:

The swingin' Karen

arrangment sounding a little like Bill Withers "Use Me"
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:03pm ?:

This sounds so much like Brian Protheroe's Enjoy It.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:04pm kat330:

Yeah, not sure about FMU programming "talk shows" during the commute and/or dinner and news hours. Must make some sort of sense though.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:04pm Nick the Bard:

As far as I know, it's just a one night thing, so, we'll see what happens after this.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:04pm Otis:

never mind a small skinny dose of carpenters.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:05pm Alison Porchnik:

All this flute makes me yearn for some Quicksilver Messenger Service
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:06pm kat330:

I've said it before, probably here, that Karen has one of the finest phrasings of any vocalist before or since.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:06pm G:

bulimia humor makes me puke! :-P
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:06pm Mr. Obvious:

Nick, I think we all know what will happen in the early morning...
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:06pm Droll:

Love this Carpenters tune, never heard it before. I wonder who wrote it. Too bad I can't just read the Wikipedia page about the Passage LP... Sigh...
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:06pm Carmichael:

Boy, these Carpenter folks are sure jazzy.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:06pm Matt from Springfield:

I do like that Carpenters one.
@Nick: I thought Irwin meant you were taking the slot, sorry bout that.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:07pm Carmichael:

@Droll: www.allmusic.com
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:08pm Irwin:

Michael Franks wrote it.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:09pm Hebrew National:

Michael "Ballpark" Franks - Plumps when you cook 'im.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:09pm Caryn:

I'm not offended, but puzzled... the use of "b'wana" refers to Africa, but the threat to send the person back to Guayaquil refers to Ecuador. So, what the heck? Are they importing Ecuadorian servants to some African nation? And why would they do that? Michael Franks has got some explaining to do.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:09pm Caryn:

Out of all singing drummers, I think Karen Carpenter has the best voice.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:10pm Droll:

@carmichael, Excellent point: AllMusic are a bunch of picket-line crossing corporatists.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:10pm Mickey Dolenz:

  Wed. 1/18/12 4:10pm Irwin:

@caryn: When it comes to singing, she's no Buddy Rich.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:11pm hablo:

Other singing drummers who come to mind ... Phil Collins, dude from The Romantics, Levon Helm
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:11pm kat330:

Or Don Henley.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:12pm hablo:

The Rare Earth dude.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:12pm Alison Porchnik:

All this flute makes me yearn for some Jethro Tull.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:12pm Don Henley:

@Caryn: I just get no respect at all.

Except from Andy Breckman.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:13pm Frey:

I get way less than you, Henley. And what about Felder? We booted him.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:13pm Matt from Springfield:

Hippie-chic Traffic song!
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:13pm Caryn:

In high school solo singing class, I sang a lot of Carpenters tunes, since I have a similar vocal range to Karen. Too bad my tone is not the same...

Plenty of singing drummers out there. Even good singing drummers. But out of all of them, I prefer Karen. I loved her duet with Ella Fitzgerald.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:14pm Hablo:

The Velvet Fog played drums and sang, but not sure if he did it concurrently.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:15pm Mark in VT:

Every time I hear a Traffic song I always think of this old guy that walked by at work years ago and we were playing a Traffic CD. He walked by to go to his shift and turned his head as he was walking and said "hey that's Traffic!" and kept walking. For some reason I thought that funny and has stuck in my head.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:16pm Otis:

speaking of Velvets, Moe Tea Party Tucker is in a fog now.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:16pm Traffic Hippy Chick:

@Matt: Hey, 'nuff High Spark from a Low-heeled Boy!
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:17pm Schlitt:

Man, what I'd give to hear a little Head East right now.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:17pm Matt from Springfield:

Decade In Exile, another nice zoned out one today.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:17pm Caryn:

Do we count Dave Grohl as a singing drummer? Just to add to the list. Or Prince? He did tend to play all the instruments on his albums...
Wed. 1/18/12 4:18pm Matt from Springfield:

Are all hippy chicks chic? Or only Le Freaks?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:20pm Droll:

@Caryn, If you count Prince as a drummer that sings, we can also count Sir Paul McCartney, Adrian Belew, Stevie Wonder, Matt Mafferty, Todd Rundgren, etc.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:20pm Alison Porchnik:

Wonderful. Moles are always overlooked in favor of voles. Leave it to Irwin to give moles their props.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:22pm G:

Holy Moley! Is it vacuuming time?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:22pm still b/p:

Rats. The Mole and the Rocket video has been removed from YouTube.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:22pm Caryn:

The Mole movie is still in the movie theatres over here. Not in the top 10, though.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:22pm seang:

As a singing percussionist, there is always Bongo Joe
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:24pm Nick Mason:

I got a vocal credit for "One Of These Days".
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:25pm kat330:

Going to my new happy place, using this as a soundtrack.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:26pm Irwin:

@G: you guessed it.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:26pm G:

Some people blaze out at 4:20. Irwin puts on a long track and does chores.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:26pm Caryn:

Like the Mole cartoons, but not so much the books.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:27pm kat330:

I realize DJs are expected to push buttons, but Irwin seems to get special delight from pushing listeners' buttons.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:29pm dinatekno:

You can access Wikipedia - I've been using it...

I'm a fan of Uncle Ir's Cartoon Music Depot on facebook
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:31pm Jess:

who does the song in the background?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:31pm Alison Porchnik:

January 23? That's National Pie Day!
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:32pm G:

I believe that is Marco Benevento right now on the bed music.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:32pm Caryn:

Miler was born in 1921 and died last November, at age 90. The voices on the cartoons were done by his daughters. He got the idea for the Mole cartoons when he was on a walk in the woods and tripped on a mole... what is it, a burrow? Last year, a bunch of the cartoons were put together into a compilation movie.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:33pm Alison Porchnik:

@ Caryn: Mole hill. As in mountain
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:33pm Caryn:

Oh, and Miler came up with the Mole at the age of 34, so not a prodigy in that regard.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:34pm Matt from Springfield:

So, both beer, and nerds are invited to the meetup?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:35pm Caryn:

@Alison: Duh. Why didn't I remember that expression?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:35pm kat330:

Heh! Pearls of mighty wisdom here.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:36pm Alison Porchnik:

Sound relationship advice from the Mighty Sparrow.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:36pm G:

@Caryn: Don't make a mountain out of a molehill!!!! :-P
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:37pm Carmichael:

Why yes he certainly does, Sparrow.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:38pm kat330:

Woman as slave, eh? Didn't hear any disclaimer about this tune as we did for Karen's.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:38pm AnAnonymousParty:

Canadian breakfast beer? Yeah, I have some of that with my back-bacon and eggs, eh?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:39pm Carmichael:

Beer, moles and voles are all invited to the meet-up. And don't you forget my unicorn.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:41pm Caryn:

I suspect that if I started talking to the moon, I'd be so sleepy that I'd only manage a partial recitation of "Good Night, Moon".
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:41pm Alison Porchnik:

Anyone from the West Coast remember the Great Vole Invasion of 1980?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:42pm Caryn:

Anyone remember the 1956 film "The Mole People"?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:43pm G:

Anyone remember from high school chemistry what "mole" actually means?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:44pm Irwin:

  Wed. 1/18/12 4:44pm still b/p:

Anyone remember Morocco Mole, sidekick to Secret Squirrel?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:44pm Mike Nelson:

I'll never forget "The Mole People"
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:45pm Tom Servo:

True story.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:45pm Caryn:

Anyone remember Fred Savage as the Mole in "Austin Powers in Goldmember"?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:46pm Carmichael:

Firesign Theater used to talk about a film called Invaders from Mars vs the Mexican Mole Women. They mentioned Ida Lupino being in it.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:46pm George Smiley:

I am ALL about the mole.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:46pm Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: Of course. And Austin's uncontrollable Freudian slips about it.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:46pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hans Moleman - "Good morning to you. This is Moleman in the morning."
Wed. 1/18/12 4:46pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

Fred Savage is now the voice of an octopus named Oswald that my daughter adores.
Wed. 1/18/12 4:47pm Matt from Springfield:

@Smiley: Looking forward to your new movie coming out.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:49pm George Smiley:

It's out, it's on, it's open, see it, and make sure you're not followed.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:49pm kat330:

I love mole sauce.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:49pm Caryn:

Oh, the Treehouse of Horror episode where all the people of Springfield were changed into their Halloween costumes, and Moleman was changed into a mole. His complaint of "I wasn't in costume. It's just my name." fell on deaf ears...
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:49pm Ida Lupino:

And I haven't worked since.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:51pm Carmichael:

Don't be so shy, Ida. I remember you as the nurse on Marcus Welby MD.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:52pm Ida Lupino:

Oh yeah, I was gonna get an academy award for that, too.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:53pm Caryn:

Yeah, Ida. You couldn't have been on Batman with Adam West or on Columbo with Peter Falk if you hadn't been working. Or on Charlie's Angels.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:54pm G:

@Ida: You mean a Razzie?
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:54pm kat330:

Ida baked a mole pie if I'd known it was national pie day.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:54pm Carmichael:

Pretending to tolerate James Brolin should have got you that award, too.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:54pm Elena Verdugo:

Back off! I was the nurse in Welby's office.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:55pm Caryn:

And heck, Ida, you couldn't have been attacked by that giant chicken in "The Food of the Gods" if you'd stopped working...
Wed. 1/18/12 4:58pm Matt from Springfield:

Food Of The Gods! A piece of wretched cinema I've heard about and long to see.
  Wed. 1/18/12 4:59pm Barbra S.:

Mm. I tolerate Jimmy B. once or twice every night. I'm a people who loves that particular people.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:00pm AnAnonymousParty:

Any movie where Ida Lupino gets attacked by a giant chicken has to be worth a watch. Does it have John Saxon too?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:03pm Iranian Filmmaker:

There is no gravity. The earth sucks.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:03pm Iran:

Joy is very lacking in this culture. Or rather, sadness is very prominent. Even pre-Revolution.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:03pm kat330:

Few get Chekhov's humor either.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:04pm glenn:

farsi. they speak farsi in iran.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:04pm Listening Out There:

Leona! Of course...
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:04pm Ahmadinejad:

As I've said, we have no gay people, so...
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:04pm Caryn:

No John Saxon, but the male hero is played by the former "world's youngest ordained minister", Marjoe Gortner. So you can tell the movie is just brimming with quality acting.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:04pm Matt from Springfield:

Leona Lane!! It's been a while since we heard her angelic strains here.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:05pm Carmichael:

This sounds like Alfalfa.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:05pm G:

Glenn is very farseeing.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:05pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat330: Then Chekh him ov my list...
Wed. 1/18/12 5:05pm Listening Out There:

...but does Leona sing in Farsi?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:05pm Caryn:

Did Leona have a son called James Canupp?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:05pm G:

5PM. It's "Untie Amanda" hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wed. 1/18/12 5:06pm Matt from Springfield:

Oops, read the playlist too wide--but "Leona" did spark my memory.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:06pm Zeke:

Get the shotgun Luke.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:06pm Parq:

Carm, as usual, you are dead on the mark. "Never mind 'Club Spanky'!"
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:06pm AnAnonymousParty:

Leona makes my cats fight.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:07pm Caryn:

Is Irwin playing this to lessen the blow of the second James Canupp track coming up? After all, compared to this, even that might be preferable.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:08pm Mark in VT:

speaking of things to watch. Last night we watched an episode of The A Team on Netflix. It was the one I remember as a kid getting all excited about watching because the network pumped it for a week and a half. One of those one maybe two episodes tv shows do it up on each season. this one was with Hulk Hogan and the Fridge AKA William the refrigerator Perry. I had forgotten about the Fridge. He was so famous for a couple years along with the Bears.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:08pm Musicologist:

Leona may sound out of tune, but many people aren't aware that western Michigan has a completely different music scale than the Western World. Or any world, as a matter of fact.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:09pm Caryn:

It's very good protest programming though. Just put Leona and James on a loop on loudspeakers in front of the Capitol Building, and threaten to keep going until all this SOPA business is forgotten.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:11pm AnAnonymousParty:

It's called 'lake effect singing'.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:12pm Caryn:

As in "I want to throw the singer in the lake"?
Wed. 1/18/12 5:13pm Mark in VT:

When I hear SOPA I get hungry for a sopapilla. Anyone know what those are? They are a delicious South American pastry treat and you can put honey or syrup on them. Look it up on wikipedia.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:14pm glenn:

sounds like a crumpet.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:14pm AnAnonymousParty:

As in, you can tell how blasts of cold lake wind up her skirt affect her phrasing.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:15pm kat330:

Sopa with mole sauce.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:18pm Matt from Springfield:

Buying in SURE! ance...
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:18pm Chinchilla:

I just had to watch that James Cannup video. I wanna book this guy for a show! MORE!
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:18pm Caryn:

@Mark: Actually, sopapillas were invented near Albuquerque. I'd recommend sopapilla cheesecake to everyone.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:20pm Bugs Bunny:

I invented them before I turned left.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:20pm Southern Belle:

Oh Gravity, I do declare you are giving my the vapors!
Wed. 1/18/12 5:23pm Mark in VT:

Oh yes. sopapilla cheesecake!
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:24pm glenn:

i had key lime fudge once. that was pretty good.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:25pm Alison Porchnik:

Guava cheesecake. Amazing. One more reason why my recently developed lactose intolerance makes me want to shoot myself.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:25pm Caryn:

But I would not recommend deep-fried cheesecake to anyone. Ugh. Deep-fried butter, on the other hand: yum. Until you die of a massive coronary.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:26pm G:

@AP: lactaid (etc.) doesn't work? my brother uses that.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:27pm Caryn:

@Alison: You'd think there would be low-lactose and lactose-free dairy products available wherever you are?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:27pm Paula Deen:

Or develop diabetes. *Sigh*
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:28pm Alison Porchnik:

Yes, Lactaid does work. But whey tends to get the better of me too, and there's no pill for that. It's always a crap shoot. So to speak.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:29pm Caryn:

Oh, Paula, ever seen Maria Bamford's impersonation of you?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:29pm Alison Porchnik:

Caryn - not lactose-free guava cheesecake.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:29pm G:

Sorry to hear that, that's really shitty O:-)
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:29pm glenn:

*clears throat* well, where there's a will, there's a whey.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:30pm Laura L:

@ Mark: as a teenager, I must have eaten a hundred sopapillas (over several years) at Poncho's Mexican restaurant (which always stated "not associated with Pancho's" in their ads) in Dallas. Sugared, no syrup or honey. Great for amplifying manic energy.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:31pm Paula Deen:

No, cher, I have not.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:31pm Wayne:

No whey!
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:31pm Caryn:

Darn, Alison. :(
This is why everyone should have a pastry chef in their family. I demand a pastry chef in every home! Any politician promising that would get my vote.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:31pm Alison Porchnik:

Now that the comments board has addressed my digestive complaints, I think it's time to leave. Please continue to discuss - I'll look forward to reading your suggestions later.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:31pm Garth:

  Wed. 1/18/12 5:33pm Holmes:

Watson, come here, I need you.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:35pm Caryn:

I want to complain to the Scotland Yard that their gospel choir is not very "gospel". Nor does it seem to be a choir. That's false advertising, surely.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:35pm Alexander Graham Bell:

What the fuck, Holmes?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:36pm Scotland Yard:

We're not in freakin Scotland either. Wanna fight?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:36pm kat330:

Ya know, the spare use of a device makes it much more effective. An aural version of absence makes the heart fonder. Ahem.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:36pm Scotland Yard:

Or a yard
Wed. 1/18/12 5:37pm Partership for a drug free America:

See, this is what we're talking about.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:37pm plech:

this peanut museum song is blowing my mind
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:37pm Caryn:

Oh, the love triangle of the ages: Holmes, Watson & Bell. Soon to be a Harlequin novel.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:38pm Matt from Springfield:

The sound FX on Jad & David Fair make the stories more interesting.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:39pm Cheech Marin:

"What the fuck, Holmes", is usually my line. Somebody owes me a royalty check.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:39pm plech:

  Wed. 1/18/12 5:40pm Caryn:

Well, actually the name of Scotland Yard comes from a street in Whitehall, near which visiting Scottish rulers were housed centuries ago. So no need to fight over that. "Gospel choir" is still a lie, though.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:41pm Conspiracy Theorist:

It's all a lie. Area 51!
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:43pm Caryn:

In the third Guy Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes film, Moriarty will be revealed to actually be a jealous Alexander Graham Bell. Who will then try to strangle Holmes with a telephone cord.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:44pm Droll:

It's getting late in the show and the James Canupp tally is still only one... I'm getting really nervous.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:44pm Alexander Graham Bell:

When I get my royalty check from Holmes, I'll send you yours. mkay?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:46pm Graham Crackers:

Not getting enough money from us, cheapskate?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:46pm AnAnonymousParty:

And Moriarty/Bell will be played by a "what the fuck, Holmes" shouting Cheech Marin.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:47pm Cheech Marin:

Damn right!
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:47pm Caryn:

Well, Bell is Scottish, so the stereotypical cheapskate nature is an unfortunate part of his personality.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:48pm Alexander Graham Bell:

  Wed. 1/18/12 5:49pm Caryn:

Now I'm waiting for the scene where Moriarty rides away in a horsedrawn carriage while blasting "Lowrider" and smoking a doobie.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:50pm Caryn:

Hey, Bell, you're the one who decided to perpetuate unfortunate stereotypes! I've called Robert Burns, who is gonna kick your ass. And then write a poem about it.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:51pm Alexander Graham Bell:

I will escape in my hovercraft.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:51pm G:

Who shot that moose?
Wed. 1/18/12 5:51pm Matt from Springfield:

The Church of the Canupp!
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:51pm AnAnonymousParty:

Just tell me it won't be a bag pipes version of Lowrider.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:53pm G:

Did he sing "suffer agony"? Like yeah, dude.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:53pm Stevel:

God so loved me that she struck me deaf.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:53pm Matt from Springfield:

I'd like to see James sing on Mr. Show's TBN-style Satanist TV ministry.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:53pm Stanley:

God Bless YouTube
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:53pm Caryn:

No, it'll be a version of "Lowrider" by a bunch of Morris dancers. Makes the bagpipe version sound good, doesn't it?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:53pm God:

Damn, I really do work in mysterious ways.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:54pm Droll:

Why couldn't YouTube be on strike today?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:54pm Caryn:

Or maybe Ritchie should call up James Canupp to cover "Lowrider"?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:54pm Laura L:

A song like this makes you glad the son of god was an only child.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:54pm Brian C.:

Holy Cow. I think it's time for a mic break.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:55pm Matt from Springfield:

Woooo! James! (claps)
Can you do Zep's "Heartbreaker" next?
Wed. 1/18/12 5:55pm Listening Out There:

It's gone. My headache's gone...
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:56pm G:

Even the Amanda haters would have preferred her to Jimmy, nicht wahr?
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:56pm Droll:

I suppose Mr. Canupp's contribution passes for this week's microtonal song.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:56pm phillip:

Mr. Show was great!
Wed. 1/18/12 5:56pm Matt from Springfield:

And a new fav of this show, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Biergarten.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:56pm G:

Nothing micro about anything in *that* audio.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:56pm plastiquejesus:

that was so bad it wasn't even funny.
Wed. 1/18/12 5:56pm Mark in VT:

Next Wednesday is Burns Night.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:57pm Laura L:

@ G: wahrscheinlich!
Wed. 1/18/12 5:57pm Matt from Springfield:

@Droll: I think that tone was going faster than the speed of light, in addition to sound. So I think that next week we'll be hearing the time traveled sound, returning here.
  Wed. 1/18/12 5:57pm slugluv1313:

WOW and all along i thought that *i* possessed THEE WORST VOICE IN THEE WORLD but now *GOD* so loved *me* that "HE" is making me realize the error of my ways!!!!!!
Wed. 1/18/12 5:58pm Listening Out There:

James could sing at Newt's inauguration, maybe...
