  11:54am listener james from westwood:

good thursday all! howdy charlie!
  11:57am Captain Spaulding:

We took some pictures of the native girls, but they weren't developed.
  11:58am ndbob:

Heya Charlie and everyone!
  11:58am Alf from Upstate:

Welcome back Charlie!
  12:01pm Michael:

Hey now charlie - let's do this thing....!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm charlie:

did someone call me "schnorrer"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm charlie:

Greetings Bob, Alf, Michael, Capt S, James, Brian, Carmichael, Snortley...
  12:02pm Carmichael:

@Brian: Poor Spencer. Make sure you give him some treaties for his tolerance.
  12:02pm kat330:

Hi, Charlie and all! Hey, didn't miss it this week thanks to your kind reminder. Can't connect here on the keyboard much today, but know I am listening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm charlie:

Hey, Kat, glad to have you with us, typing or not.
  12:05pm holland oats:

teeko is dope, there i said it
  12:06pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Cheese Lady checking in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm charlie:

Yo Wendy! Hi ho Holland Oats!
  12:08pm Katya:

Yes! Thanks for the reminders, brotha! "Listen, listen" reminds me of this one. Have you heard it yet? http://youtu.be/-EkbC2nvGYk
  12:09pm Carmichael:

Wanna know who's dope?? The guy in the pic, with the biggest seat of headphones EVER! Definitely not Koss.
  12:11pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Haulin' oats. hahaha. Punchline to my current favorite dumb joke, courtesy of my Glenn L.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm charlie:

Hiya Katya! Thanks for droppin' by!
  12:18pm Katya:

Way to stick it to rock-n-roll, Keely.
  12:20pm monica:

feelin' the keely, chaz! she schmaltzed and waltzed it up real good.
  12:20pm Brian en Angleterre:

Basques are the oldest race in Europe, probably.
  12:23pm Doug S.:

My 2004 premium "Culture Shock" is available for free on WFMU's blog:
http://bit.ly/zAULvt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm charlie:

Hi Monica! Yeah, I'm kvelling and "keel"ing over here...
And yes, go dl that premium, everyone! (Hi Doug!)
  12:27pm Brian en Angleterre:

Which sense brings out the best in love?
  12:30pm Carmichael:

Brian, you're quite existential this morning. Are you re-thinking your role in this universe of ours?
  12:31pm Brian en Angleterre:

No, I've been painting the kitchen could be the fumes.
  12:32pm Carmichael:

Charlie, would this be the ondioline playing?
  12:35pm Brian en Angleterre:

Who does the screaming version of Putting on the Ritz?
Turn left at the lights for SJ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm charlie:

Carmichael, could be. I'm not the expert.
  12:37pm monica:

@Brian en Angleterre: peter boyle and gene wilder from young frankenstein sndtrk.
  12:37pm ndbob:

thanks doug - getting it now
  12:38pm monica:

@Brian en Angleterre: sorry, my error. didn't see that chaz just played a different version. that other one's a screaming version too though...
  12:38pm Carmichael:

OK. Perrey was known for playing one of those strange electronic keyboards that ended in "-line". I thought maybe the liner notes would mention it.
  12:38pm Brian en Angleterre:

Beer o'clock over here. Can I get anyone a snifter?

Thanks Monica, had a suspicion the great Peter Boyle was involved.
  12:39pm Doug S.:

I'm siting here working on my 2012 premium. All programs on the Drummer stream are offering fantastic premiums. Looky here: http://bit.ly/yef15T
  12:40pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Then there's this version of "Putin" on the Ritz. http://www.eatliver.com/img/2010/5654.jpg

Har har.
  12:43pm Wendy del Formaggio:

If I may offer this, Charlie and Doug's marathon premium CDs are incredible collections of music and never a dud to be found. They are still on heavy rotation in the House of Formaggio, even ones I've had for years (CDs, not houses).
  12:43pm Brian en Angleterre:

I saw an Italian band recently and the keyboard player had an instrument identical to a melodica but had a tube attached that he blew into rather than directly in to the melodica. Is it still called a melodica or does it have a second name?
  12:47pm Carmichael:

THat's still a melodica. A tube is normally used so you can play the melodica on the table like a piano.
  12:48pm Michael:

Somewhere I've got the very rare and valued by collectors Charlie WVEW premium.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm charlie:

Ha, Michael, that was a good one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm charlie:

Glad you're all having a nice chat, because Mama's busy in the kitchen...
  12:51pm don:

enjoying this whole thing, charlie! mc lyte threw me badk into a memory of your take on queen latifah...
  12:51pm Brian en Angleterre:

Thanks Carmichael.
  12:51pm Carmichael:

Papa's in the ice box, lookin' for a can of ale.
  12:53pm Doug S.:

Charlie's (2004?) premium "Way-Out West" is simply sublime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm charlie:

TY, Doug!
Hey, Don, I shoulda done the MC Lyte numbah!
  12:56pm don:

scratch it back, DJ!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm charlie:

Wendy, how do you put your house on rotation?
  12:59pm Katya:

Got it on the desk here, Doug. Agreed!
  1:01pm Laura L:

So how are ya, Charlie?
  1:02pm Katya:

[Thanks for the giggle, Laura]
  1:04pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Charlie, very carefully.
  1:05pm Katya:

PLU did a great job slipping the word "music" in there. Laughed so hard! Don't think I've heard that one. Thanks, Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm charlie:

Hi Laura! All is good. How's by you? nice to see ya.
  1:16pm still b/p:

Some of that Space Poetry almost sounded here and there like Leslie Howard in Petrified Forest.
About 50% of my comments lately are about somethin' sounding like somethin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm charlie:

still b/p, your comment sounds like somethin' but I can't identify it...
  1:20pm Brian en Angleterre:

Sun Ra followed Kermit. Love it.
  1:23pm Carmichael:

Clint's a'croonin' ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm charlie:

Brian, they used to tour together.
  1:25pm William Munny:

All right, I'm coming out. Any man I see out there, I'm gonna sing to him. Any sumbitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna sing to him, but I'm gonna sing to his wife, all his friends, and burn his damn house down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm charlie:

It's the quiet set about trees, talkin' to 'em, and wind, and, ya know, talkin' to it...
  1:25pm trrs:

Treemium
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm charlie:

Yeah, Billy (Mummy), life can be a musical. It is in India, apparently, if the movies tell us anything.
  1:26pm Katya:

Charlie, so often it happens that the next song you play is the one I am thinking. It's weird and fun.
  1:26pm Brian en Angleterre:

Did they rotate support?

Take the Munny and run.
  1:30pm Josey Wales:

Well, the fella on the right had fear in his eyes. He wasn't gonna sing 1st. The soprano next to him was twitchy and nervous. The mezzo in the middle was itchin' for a showdown. The baritone on the far left, well, I though you could handle him.
  1:30pm ndbob:

good song here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm charlie:

trrs, lol
katya - mind control at its best
ty, bob!
  1:31pm listener james from westwood:

whisper to her wind ≠ whisper to her, wind
  1:32pm Laura L:

Everyone knows it's Windy trippin down the streets.
  1:34pm listener james from westwood:

treeple like us?
  1:36pm Harry:

But being as I'm 100% miscast, the most powerful sonic misfire in the world, and would blow your ears clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
  1:37pm kat330:

Hey, Charlie, the kitchen is where I've been as well! I was butterflying and stuffing herbs under the skin of a chicken for roasting later.
  1:39pm kat330:

Ow, Charlie bit my cochlea! But my fingers are now ungloved, sterilized and ready for keyboard connection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm charlie:

Welcome back, my hands might as well have been in a chicken, considering how little I've joined in here!
  1:41pm listener james from westwood:

hovaaaa! (or at least his theme)
  1:41pm kat330:

You join in far more than many DJs manage.
  1:43pm kat330:

You'd be so easy to adopt. :) [more on that in email]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm charlie:

Yes, channeling Hova!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm charlie:

Uh-oh, two Muppets songs in one show...
  1:46pm Carmichael:

This is seriously one of my favorite all-time bands.
  1:46pm listener james from westwood:

no such thing as too much electric mayhem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm charlie:

And one of the best band names ever!
  1:48pm Carmichael:

Now, if you could play Taj Mahal singing a Jorge Ben song, that would be incredible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm charlie:

How about Jorge Ben singing in the Taj Mahal?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm charlie:

I have lots of pictures I was going to post during the show, but got too busy, so y'all come back and check the playlist later today, ok?
  1:50pm trrs:

tuned wtih the archive, yep.
  1:51pm kat330:

I can just imagine the picture for this one, heh!
  1:51pm Laura L:

Thank you for Bob & Ray anytime!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm charlie:

OK, this was funnier on TV, but still...
Bob and Ray are sitting in comfy chairs, while Jane Curtin, Larraine Newman, and Gilda Radner, and the band are going crazy behind them.
  1:52pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Does Taj Mahal sing a song called "Jorge Ben"? That would be cool.
  1:53pm Katya:

Yeah, that Bob and Ray picket fence a couple weeks ago is still playing here for anyone who will listen.
  1:53pm still b/p:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm charlie:

lol, Wendy, re Taj Mahal.
  1:57pm trrs:

Thanks for the listening party. This has been a great bunch of smiles.
  1:58pm kat330:

Only people with insufficient imaginations prefer TV over radio,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm charlie:

Seriously, you've been a great crowd! Thanks for joining me here today. See you next week for marathon show! Keep us in your hearts!
  1:58pm kat330:

Yes, thanks, Charlie! Hopefully same time same place next week.
  1:59pm Michael:

Thanks Chaz! Lookin' forward to overspending on 'FMU next week!
  1:59pm ndbob:

  2:13pm Holly in NC:

I didn't hear a single second of this show, but the playlist is ASTOUNDING!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm charlie:

Hey Holly, send me your e-mail, and I'll add you to my radio list, if you want advance warning!
  2:31pm Holly in NC:

You got it! (Doug has it as well)
  3:23pm Luis:

I am sorry that I was unable to respond sooner. King Crimson's "I Talk To The Wind" probably has some of my favorite lyrics "I talk to the wind The wind does not hear me The wind cannot hear" Another favorite is "Sitting By The Dock Of The Bay - wasting time"
