Make a pledge now in support of D:O RADIO increasing their on-air schedule from monthly to bi-weekly! That is surely worth celebrating with a pledge!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm
Jeff G:

...and this month featured three (3) new shows in a row! (Doug, please do not retain any memory of this comment.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Jeff G:

Oh, Columbia Records. Where did your weirdness go?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Doug Schulkind:

Oh usual playlist commenters, where did you go?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
Jeff G:

Probably taking the day off to honor our nation's leaders!
(Also dc pat is moonlighting over on Irene's show.)

Dan in Seattle:

Already sent in my pledge pre-marathon! Jeff, what is the origin of the term Kosmigroov? I never heard of it, then all of a sudden a few years ago, it was everywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Doug Schulkind:

We need a couple of listeners to make a pledge now to keep the ball rolling. Give the Drummer Radio wants to do its part for WFMU. Please do you part for Give the Drummer Radio. Remember a pledge now is just a commitment to make your donation when you can. Click on the pledge box atop this page and add your twenty bucks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Jeff G:

@Dan, not entirely sure, but suspect it was sort of an internet phenomenon, fueled in part by the confab at freeform.org. Also: THANKS!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Jeff G:

Doug Watson, a frequent/long-time comment-er at D:O, was a key person in helping define it, I believe. Also, the compilation JAZZ SATELLITES is something of a founding document.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
Doug Schulkind:

BIG THANKS BIG THANKS BIG THANKS BIG THANKS
Go to Listener Andy in San Diego for a TRIPLE-PREMIUM (plus) sized pledge. THANKS ANDY!
  1:07pm
Andy W:

You betcha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Doug Schulkind:

One MOUSE OF TODAY pledge ($365 or a dollar-a-day) pledge will get this show achingly close to the 50% mark. If you pledge $180 or more, you can opt to pay your pledge in monthly installments. It's pretty painless and makes a HUGE and wonderful difference to WFMU and GTDR!
  1:09pm
listener james from westwood:

go andy w!
get in there, folks! freeform's becoming a rare and precious thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
Dan in Seattle:

Someone's got to pledge in honor of a show that plays songs with "multiplicity" in the lyrics!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
Dan in Seattle:

BIG THANKS BIG THANKS BIG THANKS!!!
Listener Brett in Fanwood as served up a T-shirt sized pledge. Brett says: "More Destination: Out, please."

Thank you Brett!

Echoing Doug with a giant YAY to Brett & Andy! Thanks so much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm
Jeff G:

Incidentally, we certainly don't mind listeners going over to other FMU shows -- we do it, too (though not during our own show)! But if anyone out there is listening instead to Leonard Lopate, and I find out about it, I'm gonna have a conniption.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm
Leonard L.:

Even I wouldn't do that!

Just jumpin' in -- to a monster jam!

More pledges for more kozmigroov. Can we threaten to play an Eagles live album if the money ain't coming in?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
Dervish:

The only good Eagle, is a... oh never mind.
  1:30pm
bg porter:

The Eagles won't do it. You may need the nucular option -- cue up some Yanni, my men.
  1:31pm
Jeff J:

I was thinking of the smug and lethargic extended live version of "Hotel California" on repeat - the sound of a coke-addled mind smirking itself in half - until we get more pledges. I've got it cued up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Doug Schulkind:

Must-read testimonial on WFMU from Listener Yair: bit.ly...

Read it and then make a PLEDGE!
  1:33pm

Yanni, eh? Thanks, BG. I think you've just helped program next week's show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm
Jeff G:

Jeff J:

On the carrot end, a reminder that our premium is KILLER. An exceptional disc of klassic and extremely rare Kozmigroov tunes, handpicked by us and sequenced for maximum enjoyment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm
Doug Schulkind:

For a pledge right now of $75, you get DO's fantastic premium, plus the new WFMU t-shirt and bumper sticker (or miracle soap). For a $180 pledge, you get your pick of any THREE dj premiums, plus all that crap AND a wicked cool black record bag. See all the swag here:

I think that last mic break got the Listener Hugo seal of approval!
  1:51pm
Jeff J:

Jan Gabarek - proof that some musicians know more about music in their 20s than later in life. Common syndrome in rock, but extremely rare in jazz.

Jeff J:

Thanks Listener Hugo!

Doug Schulkind:

Destination Out is a non-denominational radio show. It accepts pledges of any denomination. I while I'm speaking of de nation, there have been no pledges yet from outside the U.S.A. Here's special to all across-the-border listeners (except our Greek friends, who have no disposable income) to make a pledge!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
Dervish:

This sounds very Mind Train-y.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
Jeff G:

One thing I do appreciate: at least FMU seeks funds using music, rather than coming up to folks on the sidewalk, clipboard in hand, and asking: "Do you like comedy?" "Do you have a moment for the environment?" "You look like someone who cares?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Doug Schulkind:

Pre-recorded programs like Destination's Out's have a harder time soliciting pledges than the live shows. The dirty little secret is that the folks doing pre-recorded shows have to spend twice as much time creating their shows. The three hours to recorded it to tape and then three more hours maintaining the live playlist. Let's have a pledge or two in support of our hard working DJs!

Folks, if we can't do a little better, next week's show is gonna contain some howlers to hurt your fine sensibilities (if not your ears) . Grab yourself a t-shirt or premium now to keep us from soiling the airwaves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Doug Schulkind:

Bringing in a nice haul of $$$ is vital for the station, and showing WFMU that Give the Drummer Radio has widespread listener support is also crucial. Quantity of pledges is as important to us here on the stream as quantity pledged. Please add your name to the list of stream supporters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Doug Schulkind:

You can pledge via this link: wfmu.org...

Make your pledge, then pay it when you can. You do not have to pay immediately. Pledges of $180 or more can pay it off in monthly installments.
  2:43pm
Jeff J:

We appreciate any pledges! See Doug's link above for the particulars. Your support keeps free form radio alive.
(It also keeps us from digging up our bootleg of Steve Lacy's drunken Elvis impersonations next week.)

Who will be the heroic one to slip in a pledge before the show ends? Who will take matters into their own fingers and click a little click of love for Destination Out's wonderful music? Who will laugh in the face of adversity and smirk in the face of doubt. SLIP, TAKE, CLICK, LAUGH, SMIRK, PLEDGE!
