Hi, Kitty, thanks for the good wishes! Bosco is over there looking furry...@T-Zero: That's okay, as long as you're supporting the station, it doesn't matter who you give to!
  12:19am
TTTT:

Do the pledges actually effect the future of each show? I've just been pledging every time I tune in. Not to every show.
  12:20am
mike noble in dc:

@t-zero they should work out a system where you can start putting down your pledges for 2013 in advance. dangerous though, i feel like the prize slot machine would have me pledging well into the next decade.
  12:20am
mike noble in dc:

if joe doesn't meet his goal he gets bumped back to his old time slot.

Skirkie:

Howdy. You ain't still there are you?
  12:35am

Danne D:

@Skirkie nopers I'm back home - actually have to turn very shortly as I'm back for the Sarge shift (and will actually try and get there for the last 1/2 of Keili's show). Left the station around 10 or so.

So I just noticed that, including this show - there are 165 episodes of Joe's great show in the archives. It would be awesome if somebody pledged $165 in honor of that fact :) Then they could pledge $15 later and get 3 DJ premiums :)

Anyone who makes a web pledge at any time can pick the show(s) they want to credit their pledge too. You can pick right at the top of the pledge page.

Pledge cards print out at the beginning of each of those DJ's shows, and your pledge counts towards that DJ's goal.
So, you can pledge any time for any program! And, the DJ will find out along with all the pledges coming in in real-time.

@Julie Yep - wasn't THAT hard - they are grouped by month :)

@Holly that's very kind - frankly any pledge to WFMU is a pledge for me as it'll ensure that I have good radio to listen to (and so will you) - besides I'm already getting too much attention with my prize/comment account :) But thanks!

@Danne: You counted 165 shows?--that's interesting, because one night I pointed out to Joe that he had long ago exceeded the "critical mass" of 165 hours of Archives...meaning, listeners can listen to Surface Noise the ENTIRE week, plus the new episode! ;)

  2:08am
Matt from Springfield:

Ahh, Marathon-edition pocket-size Single File!
With Meghan it's a cool pairing tonight--theme without format (UTP) meets format without theme (SF)!
  2:09am
mike noble in dc:

danke, skirkie
  2:09am
Julie:

Joe is also smirking
  2:10am
Marmalade Kitty:

So that's who ian Curtis the frog is. Call me Slow II.

The movies up for grabs are by Yasujiro Ozu: "The Only Son" and "There Was a Father." I specially requested this as a prize. Two beautiful films on Criterion...

Ken From Hyde Park:

My daily visit to the Wikipedia home page finds that Feb. 26, 1991, was the day that Tim Berners-Lee introduced the first web browser. So, therefore, pledge to WFMU. Without the internet, WFMU wouldn't be what it is today, right?
  2:20am
Julie:

I Remember one of the Raincoats saying that Kurt Cobain drank too many milkshakes (after his OD)
  2:21am
knaster:

@Julie. Gold digger. Yes! In a positive way! (positive expression in Sweden)
  2:21am
Julie:

@Knaster its quite different here :)
  2:22am
KP:

He positively called her a gold digger.
  2:22am
Matt from Springfield:

@mike: Wash out your mouth with...uh, social awkwardness remover...

Btw, haven't heard about new WHFS. Online? I see a couple links, do you know who's running it?
  2:23am
Matt from Springfield:

@knaster: Julie's right, about the different American meaning :)
A positive expression for Liz here would be a "gold mine" of amazing stuff. Or, a "treasure trove", "treasure chest".
  2:24am
KP:

Whoo-ha?
  2:24am
Joshua K:

Half my wardrobe is covered thanks to all the WFMU premium t-shirts.

  2:30am
mike noble in dc:

@Matt i think whfs is running out of baltimore now. and it seems to be a pathetic alt-classic format or something. i was slightly worried since it's on the same signal as the DC... um... unofficial... station i work on. but it hasn't been a problem... yet...
  2:31am
KP:

Meghan, if Nick Drake hears you dont like him he'll be very depressed.
  2:31am
Matt from Springfield:

Very nice prize KP and MKitty!
I just remembered Joe describing them for sad lonely people to watch and feel even more sad...a night of those movies, followed by Dark Night of the Soul! Perfection! :D

  2:38am

  2:38am
mike noble in dc:

@Kitty - it is possible. my $5 pledge was just to get me to $50.

KP:

MK he's not on duty now!
Avatar 2:39am
Joe McG:

Sure, Kitty! We can definitely make that happen.
  2:40am
Matt from Springfield:

@MKitty: In fact, the "data slave team" at FMU is VERY good at adding up all pledges you make during the Marathon. They bill you the total afterwards, with your higher pledge status reflected by the total amount. It's easy!
  2:40am
Marmalade Kitty:

I was thinking of doing something crazy like double my pledge, but being a swag loving type! I was thinking of extras ha :D
  2:42am
Matt from Springfield:

  2:45am
Julie:

185 MK
  2:46am
Matt from Springfield:

@Kitty: YES! 185 USD to be exact, but $365 for a mouse pledge, even though it's a leap year!
  2:48am

@mike: Really? That's funny. The funniest I can get from my personal number is: ILL-TART.
  2:48am
mike noble in dc:

there was a conversation in joe & scott's area on wednesday about how people say the word "pajama." someone from detroit and someone with pittsburgh roots joined me in being the only people who said the word like "alabama" or "banana."
