Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Doug Schulkind:

That's hysterical, Van!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Doug Schulkind:

These "songs" come from poorly mastered CDRs. The muddiness of the sound only adds to the ambience, I contend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Doug Schulkind:

"Long Gone Texas Woman" is the number I played Friday, in case you missed it. I needed to hear it again.
  6:23pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Doug Schulkind:

For a dust-in-your-teeth rendering of Roxy's world, be sure to read this memorial piece in the Dallas Observer from May 2000: bit.ly...
  7:03pm ndbob:

  7:38pm glenn:

baseball is an indian?
  8:51pm Holly in NC:

Holy Toledo, Doug! I *used* to like to think I was pretty up on the TX outlaw scene - somehow Mr. Gordon never entered my radar. Wow. Humbled, & happy for the discovery. Seems 2 of the lps you played are absolutely not available for purchase via the web - which, in a way, is comforting as well as frustrating.
And that obit is wonderful.
Thank you!
  9:49am Brian en Angleterre:

Nice one Doug. I remember the first time I heard Rhythm Rebels in Dec '04 on your programme. Fair turned my head.
The UK connection is particularly strong from Wes McGhee producing and playing to Pete O'Brien releasing Crazy Horse on his own imprint (Sunstorm?). His fanzine Omaha Rainbow named after a John Stewart song there was always a Roxy article each issue. Then John Tobler who runs Road Goes on Forever records that release Smaller Circles over here. He assisted Pete Frame running Zigzag fanzine. It's Pete who records the two train tracks on that album.
  10:01am Brian en Angleterre:

I'd like to think that I am 'Indian' but it's wishful.
  10:25am Van in DC:

Drummer Some time for me. Greetings from the future.
  10:38am Van in DC:

I growed up in muh Native Texas, out there on a ranch even, lettered in bareback broncs in rodeo, bucked the day, went on roundups, raised pigs, was in FFA, owned a dairy heifer, worked the fields & gardens, moved the irrigation pipes, country music galore, the whole Texas scene...and somehow I had never heard of Roxy Gordon. Before the last show. This stuff is just great. Many thanks Doug for putting a fellow Texan on my musical radar.
  10:39am Van in DC:

whoops, bucked the *hay*. Boggle.
  11:09am Brian en Angleterre:

Van I like bucked the day. Running parallel archive time here.
