  12:11pm
Caryn:

Hello all!
  12:12pm
LAZCAD:

Good day Duane!!
  12:13pm
Cecile:

hola!
  12:13pm
Duane:

Hi Cara & Karyn. Hi LAZCAD! Happy hump day. Whatever that means to you :)
  12:14pm
Duane:

HI Cecile! Did you see the Whodini Unsung?
  12:15pm
Cecile:

I didn't. I was fried this week....I didn't even watch Drag Race yet! I bet it was great.
  12:15pm
kat330:

I'm back. [Sheets and towels already line dried in record time.] Hi, Duane and the usual suspects!
  12:15pm
Jennique:

Happy sunny day to you Duane! Gotta grab some lunch but will be back.
  12:16pm
robyn:

morning ...great seamless set so far duane!
  12:17pm
Duane:

Yeah it was pretty cool Cecile. Great live footage. Thanx for checkin Jennique & thanx for the youtube clip! Thanx Robyn
  12:17pm
kurt v:

best set i have heard in a while. lifting the airwaves. song by song.
  12:20pm
Krypt:

HI Duane, lovely vibe comin' thru loud and sublime here in Glasgow. Humpday!
  12:20pm
Cecile:

I always liked them, and they were definitely a fan's band, not a critics one back in the day. Sold many many of their singles and albums while other people got much more press for doing less.
  12:22pm
Deepak:

Enjoying it all.
  12:22pm
Duane:

Thank you Kurt & Krypt! Yeah Cecile,Whodini tore down many a teen center dance back in my day. :)
  12:23pm
kat330:

I'm the only one not welcomed...hmmm [pouting]
  12:24pm
kurt v:

im going to go walk my dogs right now. bringing my walkman am/fm and headphones. not letting the groove stop.
  12:24pm
Duane:

You know i love you kat330 (*Mwaah*) Thanx for listening hun-bun:)
  12:26pm
kat330:

Aw, how would I know that? Wasn't fishing, honestly, just wondering why I was ignored. :)
  12:28pm
Cecile:

I love Whodiini just showing up in the Kurtis Blow Basketball video. And the Fat Boys.
  12:28pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

Hello Duane!
  12:29pm
Duane:

kat330:I'm a typical a.d.d man, multi-taskin behind the decks and participating in the chat, so sometimes I miss a salut, but know that my love rings true...
Cecile: JEEZUS?? What a video. Top 4 of all time
  12:30pm
kat330:

Heh, yeah, Duane, you got this "ladies man" routine down pat. Lucky Pat!
  12:31pm
Cecile:

The completely stumbling and un-coordinated cheerleaders have to be my favorite part. The sub-Beat It dance-fighting is my second favorite part.
  12:31pm
tsw:

is the needle stuck?
  12:33pm
Duane:

kat330: HAHAHA! I'm used to fuckin up and apologizing, can you tell?
Jan: How are you buddy?
tsw: Naw just some live loopin improv type shit.
  12:33pm
kat330:

[and I'm too thin-skinned for my own good, as pointed out to me on many occasions]
  12:34pm
Len:

Hey, this, right now is my first live WFMU moment. Tunes are smooth and the app is great. Thanks to Dan who introduced me.
  12:34pm
BodegaMan:

Glorious day Duaniacs. Hello to all.
  12:35pm
Cecile:

welcome, len.
The app is a great thing.

BodegaMan!
  12:35pm
Duane:

Welcome aboard Len
BodegaMan: How are you, man?
  12:37pm
Len:

Finished work, on the bus and in a gooood mood.
  12:37pm
kat330:

Welcome to the world party, Len!
  12:38pm
Cecile:

BodegaMan, do you have a famed BodegaCat?
  12:41pm
Len:

kat330 :-D
  12:41pm
tsw:

that funky business was fantastic.

my buddy, Mook, misses NY and misses getting wfmu over the air. time to set up a satellite office in los angeles.
  12:43pm
BodegaMan:

Cecile: If I were a real bodega man, you bet I would. I'm just a fan of bodegas and bodega culture.
  12:43pm
Nathan:

Seems to be a lot of first timers tuning in lately. This is surely a good thing for WFMU non?
  12:44pm
Cecile:

I saw some vids of bodega cats. Those are some tough but cuddly felines.
  12:44pm
BodegaMan:

My local bodega installed a hook for my dog, so I don't have to bring him inside. The other night I forgot my dog on said hook for 2 hours. A local bartender was called to bring him to me. (wasn't in the bar, was at home cooking for the family).
  12:45pm
kat330:

@BDman: You and Mitt, for shame.
  12:45pm
Cecile:

I hope you gave your doggie extra treats!
  12:47pm
kat330:

@Nathan: I was noticing the same phenom, and surely it's a good thing (tm M. Stewart).
  12:48pm
Deepak:

This Waldman song is a gem
  12:49pm
BodegaMan:

Damn Me & Mitt linked together, shame for sure. and Cecile I gave him some major love after that.
  12:50pm
kat330:

Simon C. evokes Tim Buckley at times.
  12:51pm
BodegaFan:

B'Man, you lucky yo' dog din't end up cooked fo dinner! My bodega gots no hook, but TWO (2) outside bottle openers!
  12:51pm
Cecile:

at least he was safe and not running around. He probably dug all the new smells and sounds he got to experience - dogs are good at making lemonade out of lemons. Sounds like you have a great neighborhood.
  12:55pm
BodegaMan:

The outside bottle opener would be a nice touch. Although they open at the counter if you ask. Yeah my neighbors are pretty good, did a good job of shaming me too.
  12:57pm
Lee:

A deputy essential
  12:57pm
BodegaMan:

One of my favorite bodega stories is my neighbor keeping a pack of cigarettes behind a box of candy bars. That way if she wants a smoke she has to leave her house to go get one. Takes one from the pack and puts it back on the shelf.
  12:58pm
Cecile:

it's water under the bridge. Your dog has forgotten all about it. And in a year it will be a funny story.
  1:00pm
the dog:

Plants tip over sometimes, don't they? Cushions get chewed, don't they? Things happen. But, oh I've forgotten all about that other whatever...thing.
  1:01pm
Nathan:

Speaking of dogs.. mine are awfully active today. Just put shoes on, they got excited. Phone rings, they got excited. I took a packet of rice out of the cupboard and guess what. They got excited. You'd think I never took them out...
  1:02pm
Cecile:

and that is funny about your neighbor, too.

Our weird little grocery store is fun, too. Once they got some really good lamb in, and put it on a tab because I didint' bring enough money.

Another time I asked them for "mystery meat" (what meat came in that day) and "yogurt with no stuff in it" (plain yogurt). The counter guy knew what I was talking about cause I'm there often enough, but the other people in the store just stared at me.. hahahaha.
  1:02pm
kat330:

Spring is in the air, Nathan! Affects all living things.
  1:05pm
kat330:

"Soil as soft as summer / The strength to push like spring" -- I croon this to my tomato seedlings every day. :)
  1:11pm
kat330:

Did one of Nathan's dogs call up to request this one?
  1:17pm
Jennique:

Just tuning back in to hear the Pixies remix. Lurv it! This spring my dog has taken to using my giant exercise ball. She's a 20 lb BTerrier that shoves it down the hall like a linebacker.
  1:19pm
Nathan:

Naw the big one is more into hip-hop (for some reason)... and the little one likes pretty much anything. They both dislike jazzy saxophones though.
  1:19pm
chris:

Hi, Duane, Hi, Everybody.

Duane, I'm getting high on another great set. Thank you! Its raining out here on the west coast. Now the sun is shining in my ears!

@Cecile, love the Rapping Basketball Whodini reference. If you had a show on FMU, I'd listen!
  1:19pm
Cecile:

I love boston terriers. they are so funny.

ah, bassnectar. you guys can do no wrong.
  1:20pm
Jennique:

@Cecile - check it:
http://jsteffey.com/images/murphystory1/homecoming.html
  1:21pm
robyn:

ahh!! i love this one by the field.
  1:22pm
Nathan:

I can't wait till Spring hits here in London.. it's slowly prying Winter's grip away... but not quite.
  1:22pm
Duane:

Thanx guys! I'm sweatin ovah here, Just poppin in to say hi:)
  1:22pm
Cecile:

I had such a huge smile on my face reading it, Jennique.
I bet you hear that panicky scrabble of nails all the way up the stairs.
  1:24pm
Cecile:

man, Kompakt can't do any wrong today, either.
  1:25pm
Jennique:

@Cecile - not so much hear it, but I do see her little paws under the crack at the bottom of the door when I come up the stairs.
-Gotta dash out but will be right back-
  1:26pm
kat330:

@Nathan: Oh, right, you folks had a harsher winter than us. We were having spring weather in February here, harvesting from my unprotected herb garden all winter. Weird. And worrisome, too.
  1:26pm
still b/p:

When is the Panicky Scrabble tournament this year? Extra points for words of hysteria and off-the-deep-end alarm, right?
  1:26pm
robyn:

duane's gotta put on a great show to make up for all that celebrity gossip he fed us. or else he'll never work in this town again!!!
  1:28pm
Cecile:

yea, sbp, and you have to complete your turn in 20 seconds or less.
  1:31pm
Nathan:

@kat330 Lucky you! It's not cold.. but it's not really warm either. The trees in the park still look bare... besides the cherry trees. There I go again. Talking about the weather..
  1:33pm
Cecile:

hahahaha
  1:34pm
Mike East:

Hey Everybody! Is that a Marvin Gaye sample in the background behine Duane?
  1:35pm
robyn:

yeah, what happened to matthew herbert? "something isn't right" used to be one of my "f* george bush" jams.
  1:37pm
Cecile:

that was the video that killed his career.
  1:38pm
kat330:

Video killed the radio man?
  1:41pm
Steve:

I've only been listening to WFMU for about a year, but as of right now, this is the best hour and forty minutes of music I've heard here, and maybe on any station ever. Thank you.
  1:43pm
Duane:

Yeah Mike that was a Mr. Marvin loop in the background. Thank you much Steve!
  1:45pm
kata:

a little sprinkle of vintage bollywood always puts sunshine in my mind !
  1:49pm
kata:

sounds like Appalonia is on this one ?
  1:50pm
Duane:

yeah Appolonia & Wendy Kata
  1:51pm
kata:

woah ! INXS totally ripped that passage off ! in 'Need u tonight' -- or vice versa? depends on the year.. am I imagining that?
  1:52pm
jorge:

U have made my day. May u live 2 see Tony Orlando + The Dawn.
  1:53pm
Cecile:

they liked Prince, kata. Don't know if they had access to boots or not.
  1:53pm
kata:

coincidence perhaps..
  1:53pm
james stacheroni:

WOW!!! This is amazing. I need to grab this asap. Supposedly it's international booty appreciation day? (according to Babeland's twitter feed)
  1:55pm
jorge:

Excuse my purple pedantry but no Appollonia on this. Just wendy + lisa + prince.
  1:56pm
Duane:

Jorge: HAHAHA! You were the source of that demo!
James: Yes you do..That's one of my absolute fave Prince tunes
  1:56pm
Nathan:

I'm liking this Vex Ruffin stuff... 'I'm creative' is another good track (cringey lyric though).
  1:57pm
kata:

thanks Jorge ! I occaisionally have a tendency to correct via comment board as well ! :)
  1:58pm
Duane:

Thanx Jorge. It's PArade sessions right? Someone said that on the message boards years ago
  1:58pm
Nathan:

Duane you're killin' it.
  1:58pm
jorge:

Dude I have to leave the house but now some Scott? Making it tough.
  2:00pm
bb:

why is it that when others play tracks from 'nite flight', i love them, but if i put the record on, it lasts all of 32 seconds?
  2:01pm
Cecile:

Maybe too much of a good thing bb?
  2:02pm
Cecile:

well, gotta git for a while, see you folks in a bit.
  2:02pm
Duane:

bb: I'm like that Trout Mask Replica
  2:03pm
jorge:

Not sure if it's Parade era. May be Purple Rain-era from the weird phasey fx. Like in Erotic Cit-ay.
  2:03pm
kata:

"Educate, tolerate, negotiate, communicate
Litigate, graduate, appreciate, separate
Interrogate, violate, fluctuate, perpetrate
Masturbate, stimulate, stimulate, stimulate."
  2:04pm
Duane:

Do you play tonight Jorge? If so Good Luck..Kill, Kill,Kill!
  2:05pm
jorge:

Eli put the kibosh on this one. Nice!
  2:08pm
Duane:

Jorge: Love that. "FLying Tigaaaah of LOOVE"
  2:08pm
jorge:

Yes out the door for early soundcheck. May hang out at V*n until 9 or so later. Show's not til 10.
  2:11pm
Duane:

You are a quick one Kata. I didn't even dicipher that one yet. Big up!
  2:14pm
BodegaMan:

Did anyone else read that the Prince Wax Poetics issue was supposed to have some kind of mix associated with it? I thought I did but didn't see anything.
  2:14pm
Caryn:

Dammit, why are your shows always so good, Duane? You're making it impossible to focus on all the other stuff I have to do! Oh well, that's a small price to pay for the sweet sounds emanating from my laptop.
  2:16pm
Duane:

Yeah BdgM, it's a soundcloud mix that Dam-Funk did. I think you can find it with a quick google search.
  2:17pm
BodegaMan:

ah ha, thanks.

Other than the Moris Day article, I'm pretty geeked out over the whole issue.
  2:18pm
kata:

oh Duane, I just found that on one of those lyrics web sites.. You know I adore Prince, and I'd never heard that song. But my pubescent self was a ridiculous INXS fan, so I am sleuthing. Internet says 'Wonderful Ass' was recorded in '83. But re-recorded later.
  2:20pm
Duane:

Caryn, I breed earworms at home and now they've infested my whole house. I can't focus either cuz they crawl in my ears at night
  2:21pm
BodegaMan:

Found the mix but will wait on Dam-Funk until 3.01 pm.

  2:23pm
Jennique:

Duane - your shows are fantastique. Even though I have been popping in and out of my office I smile knowing I can go back and listen on the archives.
By the way, there's a funny podcast about earworms on Radiolab. Check it:

  2:33pm
Duane:

kat330: Coudn't bringmyself to say it, 'cuz I knew it was a lie..hahaha!
  2:34pm
kat330:

Thanks for all the many links for later exploration, people! Thlinks, I'll say.
  2:35pm
Lou:

damn this track is freakin' great...thanks for playing and turning me on
  2:38pm
Patrick:

this Final Solution track rocks! thanks Duane!
  2:38pm
kat330:

And Duane, w'ass or not, some w'music today -- thank you, sir! [gotta get something done around here, but I'll be listening]
  2:46pm
kata:

sleuthing ended. Internet only brings farmed anecdotes that Prince took the passage from INXS. Here ends my concern over the question..

thanks for your lovely set today Duane !
  2:48pm
Duane:

Thanx Kata!
  2:55pm
still b/p:

I'm gonna hafta eat Space Food Sticks at my computer from now on instead of being away from this always outstanding show for a while on Wednedeeeee.
