Listener comments!

  12:03am
Boffin:

is this a metal show?
  12:04am
Martin W.:

The public radio contest at Soundtap continues until 3am (12am Pacific Coast time). If you are listening online, go to Soundtap and listen to the WFMU stream via the link there. It is simple to log in, then click on the WFMU stream. You can listen for up to 90 minutes.

groucho:

WOBC just overtook us again
  12:05am
Red:

Everyone listening should go to http://soundtap.com/madness and listen via that site. WMFU is locked in a battle with WOBC, and they're taking a win at any cost approach. Final few hours to make sure 'FMU goes into next round! It's close, don't let the best radio station in the world down.
  12:06am
Red:

They are clearly not playing fair. They've had some huge spikes in server traffic at opportune times, and I just can't believe their numbers are for real.
  12:06am
Bucky:

nice lead-in from Tom with the early Floyd track, and I never get tired of hearing this theme. I'll be keeping my soundtap tab open until it boots me. I figured 90 minutes was through by now, I guess not. AND OH CRAP, HERE'S THE SABBATH. I LOVE YOU SOUPY.
  12:07am
Cosmic Charley:

Nice touch with the Sabbath cut! LOVEyour show!
  12:07am
jt:

oh, PDT. WFMU was ahead of WOBC at midnight EDT. BRING THAT BEAT BACK

and yeah bucky i never get tired of solid gold hell lead in.
  12:08am
Danne D:

Hi Sue :) Have an awesome show!
  12:09am
Doug Schulkind:

There are currently 316 listening to WFMU via the 128k MP3 stream. If everyone now listening switched over to listen via the stream at Soundtap, this contest would be over.

jt:

oh damn looks like soundtrap wasn't crediting me with listening to the last 1:15 of wfmu. IM ON NOW DONKEYFUCKERS.

please listen to doug. catch this on soundtrap now.

sorrow grips my voice as i stand here all alone.
  12:11am
Deepak:

ok, listening through the soundtap now.
  12:12am
Red:

I tapped out my 90 mins for today, but gotta get the word out to all those listening via FMU's stream or over the air. Sue: It's a call to all 'FMU comrades...
Listen via http://soundtap.com/madness
  12:14am
Mary Wing:

It's amazing that both FMU and OBC have more than double the hours of any other station so far. Which would lead you to believe that whoever wins this round is pretty much the overall champion. Don't let FMU lose this contest!!
Avatar 12:15am
SueP:

Hey rockers. I have no idea what's going on but isn't is a "new" day?
  12:17am
Martin W.:

@SueP, no, the contest day continues to 3AM = midnight on the West Coast.

You are our last hope to rally the troops. Or not.
  12:17am
Mary Wing:

I thought so, too, Sue, but I just tried to log on and listen and it still says I'm at 90 minutes for day 6. Guess it changes at midnight Pacific time.
  12:17am
Bucky:

man, soundtap's website is really giving me hell at times. Please, someone, tell me I'm not the only one having problems.
  12:17am
Red:

Looking at the results, Soundtap's seedings were apparently pretty off. Contest is using Pacific time.
  12:18am
jt:

are we even in to the warning part of this song yet. oh here it is.

It's definitely PDF. And soundtrap's site has been wonky for the last couple of days.
  12:21am
jt:

if your soundtrap listen bar doesn't say / 90:00 but says / 0:00 then it's not counting your listen. reload, restart.
  12:21am
Bucky:

okay, I got it going again, but the timer at the top isn't ticking. it just has the /90:00 with nothing before the slash, and earlier when the Best Show was still on, it stuck at something like 1:31/90:00 while the stream continued to work just fine. I hope that time still counts as someone listening, because I was. not to mention I listened to the first 30 minutes before finding out I was supposed to register.
  12:22am
Bucky:

JT

well damn, I just can't seem to get it to work. The website is so fucking wack
  12:23am
Red:

The Soundtrap site/server seems suspect. The site founder was on-air with Chris T earlier and even admitted they didn't have all proper security/tech in place before launching the contest.

It may be a stupid contest, but we all love WFMU so naturally want to see the station triumphant.

Rock on!
  12:23am
Rory:

Pontiak track kicks ass!
  12:23am
Bucky:

I've tried reloading it at least a dozen times now, I think I'm about to throw in the towel once again.
  12:26am
Destroit:

hello Sue, everyone, I hope everyone is well. Board is active, this 'contest' makes me stab myself. Music is fun, and for that I thank you Sue.
  12:26am
Marmalade kitty:

watch out for bbc Radio1.. noticed they're in the competition. They will likely have a big push in later stages, if they get that far. I'm not sure how many people listen to Radio1 online..
  12:26am
Bucky:

I saw Torche back in 2009 in Houston and they had major sound problems. still a decent show, awful crowd though.
  12:27am
Martin W.:

If I am interpreting the advancing numbers at Soundtap, WOBC has over 60 simultaneous listeners tuned in via Soundtap. (Their count is advancing over one aggregate minute every second.) That is simply not to be believed.
  12:28am
Destroit:

Marmalade! :)
  12:28am
jeff-m:

I hope we lose
  12:29am
Marmalade kitty:

evening! :)
  12:30am
Destroit:

Haha totally jeff-m, such cosmetic bullshit.
  12:30am
Bucky:

yeah, I think I'm done with this contest crap. I tried guys, but I'm just going to go back to playing my comfy 128k stream through my preferred media player. soundtap can suck it. and by it I mean my penis
  12:31am
chris m.:

enjoying this set of music. nice to hear some classic sabbath once in a while!
  12:33am
Destroit:

Sabbath track was great, and a good reminder. Hello Chris M, I think I stumbled upon a few of your radio shows.
  12:34am
jeff-m:

Im just playing. It's actually kind of a nice idea to have the site be sort of a hub for different non-profit stations all over. Most I never heard of being a Jersey resident
  12:34am
jt:

i got a pontiak, gasoline, grab the cash and split the scene

fukkin bummed i can't be in town to see feedtime
  12:36am
blee:

Sue P, if Solid Gold Hell was an animal, it would be a Moray Eel. So kick ass!
Avatar 12:38am
SueP:

A Moray Eel! Who knew I could birth such a thing.
  12:43am
jt:

birthing a moray eel... there's an image. i think i'll go to sleep with that one in my mind's eye.
  12:45am
blee:

you guys took it to a whole new level. so proud of you, sickos.
  12:46am
Bucky:

geez, this is awesome. I'm not sure I've ever heard of Ancestors, but this is some real atmospheric shit here.
  12:49am
Destroit:

100% with you Bucky.
  12:52am
Bucky:

I said that about 6 minutes ago and this song is still kicking my ass. Looking up these Ancestors RIGHT NOW.
  12:53am
Bucky:

I should also mention that I'm around page 750 in A Feast for Crows, the fourth Song of Ice and Fire book and this Ancestors track is the PERFECT backing for one certain climactic scene. #thepowerofmusic
  12:54am
Manolo:

Whoa ! What a great tune ! Thank you very much. I will definitely check out about Ancestors now.
  12:55am
Destroit:

Oh dear
  1:21am
jeff-m:

love the fuzz in that Mentally Track
  1:23am
Danne D:

G'night kids :)
One final note about dopey bracket thing - you can actually click on the scoring clock to see the list of all who listened. And it's completely broken (it says I have 90:00 in Day 5 and 89:59 in Day 6) true and that somehow adds up to 90:00 minutes. Not saying it's reflected in the score but let's just say these guys don't run any elections in Florida anytime soon :)

G'night! Great show Sue!
  1:25am
Scuttle:

Thought the stream was cutting out!

@Sue P. - That Glass Coffin is pretty wicked if you haven't checked it yet
Avatar 2:18am
SueP:

Why, that Glass Coffin is right here next to the turntable! We'll see if we can fit it in tonight but if not, it will make an appearance on SGH for sure.
  2:19am
hubba:

I'm sure whatever you play will rupture something... keep it rockin'!
  2:25am
jeff-m:

this Scabsmoker is pretty great!
  2:42am
hubba:

Whoa! got flash player and soundtap going... some serious delay. easily amused here... just read up on comments board... gotta vote for some of these west coast stations as well kdvs, kfjc, and kusf in exile... there is like a mass push for these stations to compete.. it is interesting and i like participating... not to plug, but my paypal is set to autopilot for wfmu... night!
  2:13pm
Dave:

Another Incredible show! Love the Obnox, Pigs and Ancestors tracks!
  1:31am
Scabsmoker:

whoa, humbling to be played in such company as this! wicked show! YoB! and "sleeping village"!?! amazing!
