  11:39am listener james from westwood:

  11:43am Michael:

I do hope there's a double rainbow. That would be AWESOME!
  11:49am Brian en Angleterre:

Do kaleidoscopes come into this in any way shape or (free)form, professor?
  11:50am Brian en Angleterre:

Oops, hello Michael & James.

Cutting school with the kids who don't care if they're cool or not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am charlie:

Double rainbow? I dunno, but I do know that I've got more than enough music for one show here...
  11:56am Brian en Angleterre:

Never been cool and do not intend starting now. Circulation is not always great.
  11:57am ndbob:

morning Charlie and everyone!

  12:06pm Harry Partch:

I resemble that remark, Charlie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm charlie:

Yeah, Artie
Hi Kat330
Thanks, Groucho!
  12:08pm kat330:

@Brian: No, no, I already kindly get notices of the show. I'm just lazy-used to clicking to it directly from FMU home page.
  12:10pm kat330:

OK, NOW it's there, but it wasn't a moment ago. Pinky swear.
  12:11pm Gary Mitchell:

what a swell version

Hello there, Katya!
  12:19pm Katya:

Double rainbow! What does it mean?! Charlie, enjoying that warm weather? We had snow and hail, and you got an early Spring. Wha?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm charlie:

Weather's funny that way!
  12:25pm kat330:

Katya, where do you, ahem, hail from?
  12:25pm northguineahills:

gaaaarrrr, missed ISB!

Good afternoon streamers and dreamers!! Please allow me to extend a very humungous public THANK YOU to Listener Van in DC who, last night, made one last pledge to WFMU. ..

A second full Y3K pledge on behalf of all the shows on GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO!!! I believe his direct quote was "You guys are the awesomest!"

Well I say to Van, it takes awesome to hear awesome.

(The truly amazing thing is, Van made the pledge while listening to an archived show on the stream.)

Thank you Van!
  12:29pm kat330:

Ahh, that's beautiful and well worth the weather! We may have 70s in Feb. and 80s in early March, but we paid dearly for that with deadly tornadoes around here on March 2nd. I'd take snow for the hail of it over erratic, unpredictable twisters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm charlie:

Hello Vicki! Listening to two streams at once? ;)
  12:31pm glenn:

van is MADE of awesome.
  12:31pm Vicki:

AND trying to install a new printer :)
  12:31pm kat330:

My last was to Katya, but the first words up there can be said to Doug and Van, too. :)
  12:33pm ndbob:

great version here
  12:33pm listener james from westwood:

thanks, van! shows the power of those archives! and of course of fmu. show the man your power, baby! blast'em!
  12:34pm listener james from westwood:

i spotted a rainbow 2 saturdays ago after a wedding i was attending. those who take such things as good omens were no doubt pleased. i took it as a sign the brief south fl rain we had at the end of the wedding had ended. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm charlie:

@northgunieahills - sorry! you can catch the archive!
Hello Doug.
YAY, VAN in DC!!!!
Hiya Glenn.
  12:36pm Michael:

my internets are totally farked - may have to do a van and listen on the archive!
  12:37pm kat330:

@LJfW:I'm not very familiar with these things, but I believe I've heard rain at a wedding is good luck. The rainbow sealed the deal.
  12:38pm Laura L:

Just want to say hi, Charlie! "Hi, Charlie!" There, I said it!
  12:38pm Brian en Angleterre:

Sticky record?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm charlie:

sticky fingers!
  12:40pm kat330:

@Brian: Maybe from a Breakfast at Tiffany's waffle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm charlie:

Hi to you Laura L. Hi to you.
  12:41pm Brian en Angleterre:

Now you could see rainbows in a Tiffany lamp.
  12:43pm still b/p:

..Or a Crackerjack box.
  12:43pm kat330:

That you could, Brian. There's a bit of "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" in this.
  12:48pm Martha:

Loving the show as usual Charlie!
  12:48pm kat330:

I'll save it to roast on an open fire in December.
  12:49pm Katya:

Shooby!!
  12:49pm kat330:

Harmonicats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm charlie:

  12:51pm kat330:

Cool kitties!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm charlie:

you've got your own rainbow, ritchie :)
  12:51pm Katya:

Considering that you are FMU listeners, sure you know this, but just in case -- Shooby.com and also Irwin and Jeff's adventures with Shooby at keyofz.com/shooby.htm
  12:52pm Van in DC:

@Michael - actually I'm here :)
  12:52pm still b/p:

So I looks up Shooby, and among the items returned is something by....Irwin Chusid.
  12:52pm kat330:

  12:54pm Doug S.:

Van, our hero among heroes! (In Pittsburgh, he'd be a hero among hoagies.)
  12:54pm kat330:

I did not know that -- thanks, Charlie.
  12:54pm Katya:

When I was about 8, my grandma gave me a gatefold, 2-record set by the Harmonicats. If she had given me a drum set, it couldn't have been more annoying to my mother. 20 points, Grandma!
  12:56pm Van in DC:

Oh, hi Charlie, Doug, everyone :)
  12:58pm still b/p:

All respect, sir, for a healthy brand of Vandalism.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm charlie:

Hi Van -- sorry for talking about you behind your back there. Now that you're here -- THANKS!!!!
  1:03pm Van in DC:

Truly, my pleasure, and thank YOU and all the GTDR'ers :)
  1:13pm glenn:

this is really worth reading. http://www.blogto.com/people/2012/03/get_to_know_a_bartender_teddy_fury_of_the_horseshoe_tavern/
  1:17pm Katya:

My uncle was a Box Top. Even though this was a hit, it wasn't the song I referred to asked about the band. You can guess the one, I bet. Sad day when Mr. Chilton died.
  1:19pm kat330:

Ed Ames, forever remembered for a toss of a tomahawk...
  1:21pm ndbob:

indeed Kat
  1:21pm Katya:

Just one more family story -- you know how rainbows were everywhere in the late '70s - early '80s. They were EVERYWHERE in our house, because my mother's business had "Rainbow" in the name. Rainbows everywhere... everywhere. Ack!
  1:21pm Art Fern:

Indeed, indeed.
  1:23pm kat330:

@Katya: I love your family stories! So who was your uncle specifically?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm charlie:

sorry to bring bad flashbacks, Katya!
cool about uncle boxtop, though!
  1:23pm Katya:

kat, thanks for the reference! I never knew that story. Pretty funny!
  1:25pm Katya:

Not one of the original five, kat
  1:25pm kat330:

Charlie, I sent you a pic of my most recent encounter with a rainbow in email.
  1:28pm Katya:

"I hope I have time to play all the crap in my bag... all the rainbow junk" Laughing right out loud. Between that, DJ Chazaloo's tweaking, and the tomahawk, I'm all smiles. Thanks!
  1:29pm still b/p:

I did't know there would be more math.
  1:29pm kat330:

I dunno, I think if you do the math here, it's a 2-digit x lady in the end.
  1:30pm Katya:

Forgot this. Have to revisit those crazy Motown Meltdowns again. Laughing so hard -- twice... twice... Almost as wonderfully silly as PLU.
  1:30pm Vicki:

I've done a rainbow song actually
  1:32pm kat330:

What's that, Vicki? Link online?
  1:32pm Katya:

(You really got me with that Experimenting with Music on your recent show. Thanks for that, too!)
  1:33pm Vicki:

Wandering from Welcome Abroad
  1:34pm Vicki:

mixes Wandering Star with I Can Sing A Rainbow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm charlie:

coming up, naturally!
  1:36pm Katya:

I hope it is in Charlie's bag! PLU and associates are the closest we come to wetting ourselves when listening to WFMU.
  1:36pm kat330:

Cool! FMU has played People Like Us quite a bit, I believe. I'll check it out at show's end -- thanks!
  1:37pm Vicki:

I didn't doubt it Charlie :)
  1:37pm kat330:

Or I'll hear it soon! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm charlie:

I'm as transparent as a rainbow.
  1:38pm Vicki:

I'm installing ink cartridges
  1:38pm Brian en Angleterre:

Vicki, how was the Sonic Arts Network event in Whitstable if memory serves?
  1:39pm Vicki:

Sound and Music - was good
  1:39pm Vicki:

clever
  1:39pm Katya:

Such a sucker for Satie. Nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm charlie:

Rainbow ink cartidges, mmmm!
  1:41pm Brian en Angleterre:

Funny you should write that, just got some cartridges from a kind person on Freegle.
  1:41pm Vicki:

the printer is now making lots of noises
  1:42pm Brian en Angleterre:

Turn the music UP.
  1:42pm Vicki:

I just replaced my printer so I'm setting it up from the manual, it's funny to be doing all this ink and whirry stuff with Charlie's rainbow show
  1:43pm Brian en Angleterre:

Right music to turn up!!!!
  1:44pm still b/p:

That other singing bunch had a Mondrian thing going on on their wheels, but the Cartridge Family had a rainbow bus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm charlie:

I'm just glad it's a color printer!
  1:44pm kat330:

Aw, you all are so much fun.
  1:45pm Brian en Angleterre:

Is that still H/P?
  1:46pm kat330:

We just gave away 4 printers to the Salvation Army. They promise proceeds will go to the tornado victims. [Also a sofa and loveseat and TV]
  1:47pm kat330:

[We did some serious spring cleaning over the weekend.]
  1:51pm Van in DC:

What a terrific show today (the part that I got to catch live anyway :) ) Thanks Charlie!
  1:54pm still b/p:

My company has thrown out hundreds and hundreds of videotapes in the last couple of weeks. That pile makes quite a visual at the disposal site.
  1:54pm kat330:

Trippy, man. Sounds like easing someone down from a Sunshine experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm charlie:

Thanks Van!
I think I'm going to go into a few minutes of overtime today.
  1:56pm Laura L:

One of Eno's very best in recent years, this one. Thanks for all the colors of the rainbow today, Charlie.
  1:56pm ndbob:

great Charlie!
  1:58pm kat330:

Three Times Twice thank you!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm charlie:

Thanks everyone! This is the last song of the show.
  2:01pm Brian en Angleterre:

Fade to grey.
  2:02pm mr. peepers:

These songs are makin' me wobbly.
  2:02pm Katya:

Same here, Brian! Bob, the first time I hear Charlie was in the '90s stuck in traffic on the West Side Highway in NYC in a tiny little Honda with no AC. Despite the situation, I was smiling. Cheers to Charlie! Thanks for the show!
  2:03pm Marni Nixon:

What a great song to end on!

Thanks Charlie!
  2:03pm ndbob:

yep Charlie - I had only one phone line then - had to turn off your show to call.
  2:04pm ndbob:
