Manchester, England signing in. been blasting this through my house for the last hour while we cooked a silly amount of bacon and eggs. My housemates, who are usually dubstep-listening-musical-retards, all liked it. Nice one

northguineahills:

The Psychocandy reissue?
  10:47am
Cecile:

ok, jason, who was the "hot" band of SXSW this year?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am
Jason:

hey Sandy, that's awesome! Did you see Crawl too?? And how about that Black Leather Jesus?

The "hot" band? I dunno Cecile. I heard a lot of people buzzing about some band Alabama Shakes, anyone heard of 'em? I didn't see them. But my personal highlights were Dikes of Holland, the entire WFMU showcase, Crawl, Olneyville Sound System, dB's w/ Mitch Easter, Jesus and Mary Chain
  10:51am
joe:

'ello folks
  10:51am
joe:

Wait? Jesus and Mary Chain played? Oh so jelous
  10:52am

Jesus and Mary Chain
  10:54am
Cecile:

nice.
How were the dBs? I know in the late 80s Holsapple said he couldn't sing some songs live like "Black and White" anymore - they were too high.
  10:54am

  10:58am
northguineahills:

I have this Medicine mix on an old 12" EP.
  10:58am
Cecile:

efd, one of my proudest moments as a Shoes fan was being on an early AOL Shoes thread, being right on some bit of trivia and Jeff Murphy posting "______________ knows his stuff!" :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am
Jason:

Shoes fans, unite!

dBs were fun but yeah they didn't play B&W, it was hard to get in.

Oh the buzz of SXSW was homeless people being used as wifi hubs and the multi-story doritos vending machine (pictured above). We put in enough quarters to get the GZA
  11:01am
Cecile:

huh? how were they used as wi-fi hubs? that sounds very Frankensteinian.
  11:02am
efd:

a proud moment indeed, Cecile!
  11:03am
Cecile:

yeah! LOL!
I felt bad making him feel sheepish because I had to tell him I was a lady person. LOL.
  11:05am
Carmichael:

Hi Jason and others.
  11:06am
groucho:

isn't Shoegaze just excessive use of distortion pedals?
  11:08am
Cecile:

not much to tell you. It was part of the creaky old Stereo Review forum. It would maybe get 10 posts a week. I think it kind of morphed in a weird way into Steve Simels' Power Pop blog.
This was about a year before No Depression and the contentious Power Pop! boards. It was kind of the Wild West. You didn't know what was going to hit.
  11:11am
Carmichael:

Jason, can you turn this up about 20 notches? It sounds like it's coming from down the hall.
  11:12am
Carmichael:

Sounds better now. That last cut was pretty muddy.
  11:16am
BSI:

Emeray was ace!
  11:24am
Carmichael:

Glad to hear Martin Newell is still around. Always liked Cleaners from Venus, that Lizard band he was in, and his solo stuff.
  11:29am
Cecile:

ha, TI speak and spell.
  11:45am

Ooh, thanks for playing Severe, Jason. I listened to that song on repeat in my car yesterday.
