Hey All!~ Today's guest is Mike Hill from TOMBS! Very psyched for his playlist!
In response to the Ultravox comment; I always mean to play Saturday Night in the City of the dead, but the copy of that 1st album here LITERALLY has a big chunk taken out of it so the first song on each side is not playable... Love that song!!
  12:23pm
antwan:

@Cecile: cheers, I'll have a listen
@groucho: I'm sure I have, I've just never consciously listened to any of their music!
  12:24pm
joe:

Ok so it is one and the same Ultravox. I know who they are but was not aware of their long history and style changes.
  12:25pm
Cecile:

  12:34pm
trolly mctrollerson:

on a pig's chest?
  12:36pm
joe:

I dig the song but Bobby sounds like he is yelling at his mike from down the hall.
  12:42pm
Cecile:

TROUBLE
  12:43pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Is the band Trouble different from Trouble Tribe?
  12:43pm
northguineahills:

  12:46pm

Cheri Pi:

What did I miss!!??? damnit-Voivod!
  1:03pm
Cecile:

Is Roadburn like the metal All Tomorrow's Parties?
  1:04pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Yes, I ducked out to make a sandwich and missed Voivod.
  1:12pm
joe:

@Cecile it seems to be in that there is a band that curates one day of the events. This year Voivod :(
  1:12pm
Cecile:

dude, did you get to smash a Scion with a wrecking ball? I think that would be appropriate.
  1:13pm
Cecile:

nice, joe!
  1:15pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Neon Knights is pretty good.
  1:15pm
Cecile:

hey, even the latter discs had good stuff.
Like "The Devil Cried."
  1:16pm
Cheri Pi:

this is a pretty awesome Sabbath pick!
  1:20pm
Cecile:

double air kick drums
  1:20pm
Cheri Pi:

Show No Mercy-my favorite Slayer album! listened to it on cassette last night!
  1:22pm
Cecile:

that's my friend's favorite album, too.
I like South of Heaven better.
Once when he put Show No Mercy on, I go, "is this Venom?" lol
  1:22pm
Mr Donut:

that is a pretty awesome Sabbath pic, DK
  1:23pm
Cheri Pi:

It's Venom-quality recorded is what your sharp ears recognized ;)
  1:26pm
Cecile:

well, hell, Slayer used to scare the bejabbers out of me until I found out there were Catholics and atheists in the band. Then they became hilarious.
  1:26pm
Cecile:

"celebrate the early catalog"
Mike you sound like a rock critic.
  1:28pm
Cheri Pi:

Megadeth are hilarious to me.
  1:29pm
Cecile:

they are.
They are even funnier now, even though I don't buy their records anymore.
  1:32pm
Marmalade kitty:

Lawnmower Deth :)
  1:32pm
MCS:

Hell-o from The Voice of Brooklyn!
  1:36pm
Cecile:

yeah, when they started singing about the PTA being in legion with the black helicopters they just kind of lost me. I miss the old screwy, uniquely Mustaine paranoia. If I want to hear that crap, I'll just go to the break room at work. Or call up my sister-in-law.
  1:40pm
Cheri Pi:

Dry-Drunk mentality -sometimes worse than being high.
  1:43pm
Cecile:

OMG, Cheri. YES.
  1:50pm
Mr Donut:

I'm still miffed at Henry for firing his excellent jazz rock band and replacing them with a bar band
  1:55pm
Cecile:

I think his greatest moment may be as a the drill instructor Green Lantern in the upcoming cartoon movie. There was a behind the scenes, and even before the voice director could correct him, he'd found his mistakes, pinpointed them and rerecorded his bit. LOL!
  1:57pm
josh:

mike..your killing it!
  1:59pm
joe:

AHHHHH Friggin work. I've missed almost all this.
  2:01pm
joe:

I've seen Megadeth 3 times now on package tours and not a single show has impressed me. My one friend actully fell asleep during their set.
  2:02pm
joe:

@Cecile sorry I missed it who did the voice of the Drill instructer in GL animated movie?
  2:05pm
Cecile:

Crime and the City Solution.

Henry Rollins.
I dont' know if it's out yet, or came out recently, but it's a full-length cartoon with Nathan Filion voicing Hal Jordan or whoever the hell it is.
  2:05pm
joe:

Technically I belive the band is pronounced as spelled so I do not think you should be corrected DK
  2:05pm
Cecile:

joe, I saw them in 2001, and they were dull. Too bad, because they were one of my favorite of the Big 4.
  2:10pm
Crutchtar:

Trash American Style was an amazing store. I used to drive an hour to get there.
  2:12pm
herr noiser:

what were Mike's high school bands called? I'm from Carmel NY as well and we apparently own all the same albums (purchased at Trash) and must be about the same age
  2:13pm
joe:

Frangry and Andy of shut up weirdo voted Henry the biggest smarty pants a few weeks back.
  2:15pm
Cecile:

that sounds like a Malcolm Gladwell stat, Diane. Always a bit dubious.
  2:16pm
Cecile:

joe, really? Good choice.
  2:17pm
tom sawyer:

cant wait until June for path to totality
  2:19pm
Nathan:

Wow, I remember when I was going to UConn buying a couple records from Trash. He came once or twice every semester or two and would set up a table in the student union. Nice guy.
  2:21pm
joe:

I need that record is a killer doc.
  2:22pm
herr noiser:

  2:26pm

  2:29pm

  2:31pm
Crutchtar:

Rorshach!!!!!
  2:32pm
herr noiser:

  2:35pm
ledzeppelinsucks:

what about Stanford Prison Experiment
  2:35pm
joe:

The guy who does most of my tattoo's roomed with one of the guys from Deadguy so one day a bunch of them came in the shop and I was getting work done I turned into such a feeble like fanboy. How embarrising.
  2:36pm
joe:

Alaric sounds like a great blend of Killing Joke and Big Black
  2:36pm
ledzeppelinsucks:

have you ever heard of a cat named Murphy from the East Bay?
  2:37pm
joe:

No but I heard of a dog named Smitty from the twin cities
  2:39pm
Cecile:
