  12:04pm SmokinJ:

Avatar 12:06pm Joe B:

Hi J! thanks everybody for tuning in! appreciate it! no live bands today but Steve Myers of Mighty Fine will be calling in to tell us about Mick Collins' upcoming fill-in stint with his band!
  12:06pm last.fm/user/johnnykevlar:

Hey Joe, what do you think are the most iconic riffs in rock music after the year 2000?
  12:06pm kate:

love your show joe! way to keep rockin
  12:08pm Cecile:

hi, pi! hi all!
  12:08pm CHeri Pi:

Those kids are from Athens-I like them a lot!
  12:09pm CHeri Pi:

Avatar 12:11pm Joe B:

Hey George! that show was amazing! new stuff sounded great!
Avatar 12:11pm Joe B:

Hi Johnny. no time to answer that now, sorry. a little busy!

Hi Kate! thanks!
  12:11pm geokopp:

indeed!
  12:14pm jljl:

Johnny K, was there a list somewhere of iconic post 2000 rock riffs? Can't think of any offhand (or imagine trying to come up with them while doing a radio show). What comes to your mind?
Avatar 12:16pm Joe B:

re riffs - Hives - Hate To say I told you so is one.
  12:16pm Cecile:

wow this sounds like proto-Embarrassments.
Avatar 12:18pm Joe B:

Cecile, great point!
  12:20pm efd:

great to hear The Cuts again! Been too long!
  12:21pm last.fm/user/johnnykevlar:

jljl, it was brought up on a site I go on because Spin magazine wrote that the electronic producer Skrillex is one of the best guitarist ever because of the riff from "nice sprites and scary monsters" is up there with led zeppelin. Really ridiculous, so I was trying to think of rock riffs in modern rock.
  12:24pm dc pat:

go, go Bad Ron!
  12:25pm Cecile:

really? You can not be able to play the guitar and come up with a great riff. I give you "You really got me." Or the Troggs...

I mean, I like Skrillex and all, but really?
  12:25pm Cecile:

Also, White Stripes 7 Nation Army.
  12:26pm Cecile:

Queens of the Stone Age - No One Knows.
  12:31pm dc pat:

best title for a song EVAR.
  12:32pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello all Hello Joe, How we doing in the post Levon-Fornatale-MCA-Sendak era???
  12:33pm dc pat:

I think Billy Childish probably had a few decent riffs...but you'd have to sift through about 100 records to make sure..
  12:34pm KevinfromBayRidge:

So many riffs...So little time!
Avatar 12:34pm Joe B:

Hi Pat! You mean he had one riff spread over 100 records!
  12:36pm dc pat:

uh, yeah--that's exactly what I meant. So there's one.
  12:42pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Damnnn! Forgot about Blohoken Spring M & A fest till it was to late to cross the river for Db's. Well 'twas great last May!
Avatar 12:43pm Joe B:

Hi Kevin! bummed about all those passings, plus Goober! Too bummed to even do any tributes today, really. I had my 2 George Goober Lindsay LPs out but left them at home.
  12:48pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Lest we forget Barnabas!! I presume no Jonathan Frid spoken-word inda house?
  12:49pm John L:

Great show, as usual. It will get me through the first half of a slow, rainy day. It's Danny Whitten's birthday; any Crazy Horse laying around?
Avatar 12:51pm Joe B:

Hey John! thanks for the heads up! will do!
  12:54pm Chesney:

Something by The Fluid or Barreracudas, please?
1:11pm formerly known as the soundguy @ the Court Tav:

nice one, Joe!
  1:11pm John L:

Did you know that Neil Young is doing a chat with Jonathan Demme at the Kaufman Concert Hall on June 8? Sold out, of course.
  1:12pm Aloha! from Pearl Harbor:

Hey Joe! Thanks for hangin' 10...
....don't fear the reverb!
  1:18pm Cecile:

that flashback song was amazing.
  1:36pm John L:

Black Angels moving into a poppier direction. I like it!!!
  1:39pm rubble:

The Hives was the first one I thought of too. Of course post 2000..(well, maybe post 19___) they're all variations on a theme. :)
  1:39pm Mike East:

enjoying the show today - I just wish I wasn't so busy at work so I could focus more on what's important...
Avatar 1:39pm Joe B:

John I did hear about that, I passed. 46 bucks. then i reconsidered ... but it was too late!
Avatar 1:39pm Joe B:

Hi Mike! thanks! Rubble! Hi Pearl Harbor!
Avatar 1:40pm Joe B:

John, agree on Black Angels! Gotteher's influence perhaps?
  1:47pm SteveL:

Holy rock 'n roll Batman!
Avatar 1:50pm Joe B:

Big Deniz Tek announcement coming up after this Lee Ranaldo song!
  1:50pm seang:

Rock on in the face of death!!
  2:52pm Mike East:

SteveL: I just made a Holy (blank) Batman! reference in an email about 2 hours ago. That's gotta be my favorite catch phrase in TV history.
