Listener comments!

  12:05pm
Mr Donut:

this flute sample has been going through my brain all week
  12:06pm
ugh:

oh come on... the only MCA dedications ive heard on wfmu in the past week is the same instrumental song on ill communication 6 times... which who knows if he even had anything to do with, it's like no one even appreciates the guy's music - pauls boutique and check your head were also amazing albums... does wfmu only have ill communication or something?
  12:06pm
Cecile:

Wow, a Bouchard bro.
Diane, If you feel the urge, I'd love to hear "Shadrach".
  12:06pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

RIP Adam Yauch. Also, RIP to Stacy Robinson, who played wide receiver for the NY Giants. He died of cancer this week. I went to college with him, but didn't know him personally.
  12:06pm
ugh:

how about "finger lickin good"
  12:06pm
northguineahills:

I don't listen to the Beastie Boys a lot (even though I have most of their material), but I can't get enough of them lately (maybe for obvious reasons).
  12:08pm
Cecile:

Mn is mourning Stacy, Ken. He was a Mpls. lad.
  12:09pm
Cecile:

My age, GAH.
But 50 is a worrisome age for pro football players. So many of them pass at that age.
  12:12pm
?:

No doubt MCa's now hanging with Dave Skilken.
  12:13pm
ugh:

wfmu doesnt play greatest hits cds! dig deeper baby!
  12:14pm
School mark:

@ugh, you should see what's in the WFMU archives before popping off in the comments. Check out Evan Funk Davies tribute last night, the link is on the WFMU homepage.
  12:15pm
Torbjørn:

Wow, what a cozy opener. First Beastie Boys, then a super-local Norwegian band ? Great !
Avatar 12:22pm
Kamikaze:

Hi folks, thanks for tuning in! Today my Peer Pressure guest is JOE BOUCHARD of Blue Oyster Cult and Blue Coupe! His show will be shorter than most segments, so please post questions NOW!! If you want to hear a Beastie's special, please check out Evan FUNK Davies' archive from last night. I was paying a quick, recognizable tribute, yo, relax, a man has died.
  12:25pm
SteveL:

Loved the opening BB/MCA tribute. EFD's show was amazing. Must listen for anyone familiar with the BBs. Great stories.
  12:34pm
eyenoise:

All these years and I never looked up what a "Diz-Buster" is. And now I wish I hadn't... BÖC are an all-time fave, though!
  12:38pm
Cecile:

I never saw any "the" on their albums.
  12:39pm
Cecile:

ask Joe what he thought of the Nomads recording "this ain't the summer of love" as The Screaming Dizbusters.
  12:40pm
tramshed:

what the shit are you doing on this early? I need to pay more attention to the damn schedule
  12:44pm
nick s:

Woooo!!!! xoxoxo!!!!!
  12:45pm
Mr Donut:

were Joe and Dennis Dunaway pals in their BOC/AC days?
  12:51pm
Cecile:

Another question: what the hell happened to Alan Lanier?
  12:53pm
Cecile:

Has Rudy Sarzo ever called Joe up and gone "What the hell have I gotten into?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
efd:

thanks for the mention, Diane - was in the middle of something and couldn't post earlier. Looking forward to hearing Joe Bouchard!
  12:58pm
tramshed:

good fucking shit
  1:00pm
Cecile:

If Xaddax were a drug, what would be its effects?
  1:01pm
Cheri Pi:

was that a little sneak peak of leaf hound?
  1:01pm
tramshed:

mullets, a penchant for harmonic screaming
  1:02pm
tramshed:

We can hear you madam.
  1:02pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey Diane, the mike is on. Is that on purpose?
  1:02pm
Xaddax:

You will notice vibrations in your diaphragm
You will hear a distand hissing in your ears
You will feel the need to vomit
You will feel dizzy
You will have difficulty focussing
You will need to breathe more rapidly
There will be bleeding from orifices
There will be an ache in the pelvic region
You may be subject to fits of hysterical shouting or even laughter
  1:04pm
Cecile:

before or after taking Xaddax?
  1:06pm
Cecile:

damn, those French Canadian genes run true - Joe is a dead ringer for my brother in law.
  1:09pm
tramshed:

it takes an infuriating long time for dmt to recrystallize
  1:09pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Umlauts.....got to have some umlauts questions. Whose idea was it to have the umlaut in Blue Öyster Cult? In retrospect, was that the greatest idea ever or was it a bad decision?
  1:14pm
nick s:

I have a question! What does Joe think about the SNL sketch "More cowbell" featuring their recording of Don't Fear The Reaper?
  1:18pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Stephen Colbert also has some recent Maurice Sendak material.
  1:22pm
Cecile:

Just tweeted that you're on the show, Joe.
  1:22pm
Nashville Noah from Coffee Break For Heroes...:

Hey Diane,
Nice that everyone is tipping the hat to MCA and the B-Boys!!
  1:24pm
Cecile:

Hi, Noah!

Joe, you have like 32 followers, You gotta step up your game. I'm just a mouthy nobody and I have 400 something!
  1:25pm
Cecile:

You are now up to 40! The power of the Interwebs!
  1:26pm
BSI:

Ah, but we loves a good mouthy nobody. I terminated my twitter acct. recently. Facebag is enough social media for this anti-social misfit.
  1:29pm
Cheri Pi:

Cecile-I retweeted you ! I don't know how it works either-we'll learn together.
  1:30pm
Cecile:

much like the masterwork that we sent to Ms. Kamikaze last week....
  1:30pm
tramshed:

this makes me almost forget load happened
  1:31pm
Cheri Pi:

Exactemundo.
  1:32pm
Cheri Pi:

off topic-but I wonder if concept-album is taught at rock-school?
  1:33pm
Cecile:

we could be visiting professors.
  1:34pm
BSI:

Any concept album worth its salt must have AT LEAST a gatefold sleeve. Bonus points for die-cuts & foldy-out bits.
  1:34pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Is that Astonomy (not Astronomy)? Sometimes, you have to overrule the spell checker.
  1:37pm
Cecile:

Hey, Joe, you should check out the Wellington International Ukelele Orchestra. They are fun! And Jake Shimaburuko...
  1:41pm
Lou:

this aint the summer of love by the screaming dizbusters is the best boc cover ever!
  1:44pm
paula pc:

@ Lou -- I agree -- you know the screaming dizbusters = really The Nomads, right? Such a great band!!
  1:46pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hoo boy....apparently the spell checker in my head has been wrong all these years. Sorry for the confusion. Not sure what made me think that alternate spelling was the actual song title.
  1:46pm
KP:

I saw BOC open for Byrds at Stony Brook. Of course BOC is from STony Brook.
  1:47pm
Cecile:

Yep, I noted that too. earlier Paula and Lou.

Imaginos. That could have been a great record.
  1:47pm
KP:

  1:48pm
Cecile:

  1:49pm
KP:
