Favoriting May 24, 2012: w/ live music from ROOMRUNNER [10:30]

Denny Bowen, drummer of Baltimore's late great Double Dagger, fronts Baltimore's Roomrunner. They've got a self-titled cassette and a brand new 12" EP, Super Vague, on Fan Death. The group brings their infectious grungey riff rock to WFMU this morning!

  9:15am
pierre:

Bonjour Jason !
Long time no hear, but always here.
  9:17am
ledzeppelinsucks:

They were stellar.
  9:25am
Cheri Pi:

Hi Jason! even though you're staying on the air I'm still going to miss you.
  9:25am
sean:

yo jason! stoked for the roomrunner set!
  9:35am
other david:

Brilliant opening set
  9:38am
Cool Fool:

I love it when the talk over music fades to:

BANANANA-NAA BEEEOW BEEOW beeeow beeeow
  9:46am
ranjit:

Gonna eat some hardboiled eggies in honor of this Eggy Cassette.
  9:50am
Mike VL:

Loving this track....thanks Jason (and Tony) !
  9:54am
Marmalade kitty:

this rocks..!
  9:59am
dc pat:

hi. That Hal Hal tune was bitchin. ahem. I have to confess that I'll be jumping back and forth between bitchin tunes and bike racing today....whew, I feel better..
  10:11am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

honesty is the burst policy
  10:13am
dc pat:

great tunes, man! You've been forcing me to buy cds lately, dammit...
  10:14am
pierre:

i love this !
  10:16am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

in a few years, we'll be like..."remember cds? how very quaint."
  10:19am
BSI:

hell, I wish CDs were at least "quaint" -- as it is, the sale/trade market is long dead. Trying to sell off the collection to build up the vinyl (again), it's tough going...
  10:21am
dc pat:

yeah, really CDs are a shitty investment for sure. You can't give 'em away.
  10:22am
Mike East:

All my favorite CD stores have gone out of business, so I've made the switch to vinyl. I still need somethin' to put in my hands.
  10:23am
Mike East:

@dc pat - on that note - a guy gave me his CD the other day cuz I hooked him up with a high E string. I still haven't cracked it. Something about getting free CD's always made me feel like they were worthless.
  10:24am
Domenic:

jeez...great overcast lift up this Co La here.....
  10:27am
BSI:

Agreed, Mike. I support download & online releases as a way to test-drive new stuff, but I'm definitely a vinyl fetishist at heart.

The only new CDs I get anymore are from performers I see live, who do handmade CDRs & such. Haven't bought a new factory-made CD in... a couple of years maybe.
  10:28am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

BSI, I'd love to scour your used disc collection, ifyou have titles posted online anywhere or have a list or something...
  10:30am
BSI:

@DCE, was planning to type it all up & post a PDF somewhere, & have like a "virtual yard sale" -- definitely a better deal for local folks (no postage $$) but there might be something in there worth it... just gotta get it done...
  10:32am
dc pat:

Mike: yeah, they seam cheap. I've done the same thing in the past--have a whole shelf of stuff people give me. That does it, digging my turn table out...
  10:33am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

well, if you do get around to it, I can guarantee you some income.
  10:37am
Cecile:

I like CDs, but i've been weeding them pretty vigourously. The ones I keep are the ones:
1) I like all the songs
2) they have good artwork
3) are from a favorite band of mine or have sentimental value
  10:37am
Cecile:

God, I just spelled vigorously UK stylee...:/
  10:38am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I never git rid of anything. I'm a classic pack-rat.
  10:41am
Cecile:

I was, but then I turned 50. Can't take it with you.
  10:41am
BSI:

I had discipline once... then we bought the house, and....
  10:42am
dc pat:

Yeah, I don't get rid of shite.
  10:45am
Cecile:

Well, now i'm doing art again, I'm glad we packratted some of our art supplies from college, but other stuff? I don't need a utility bill from 1992...
  10:45am
Nate the K:

Roomrunner is sounding great. Nice work, Jason.
  10:46am
Cheri Pi:

This is awesome-I want their records on my TT.
  10:46am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

haha Cecile, yeah, I just save all my music stuff, the hell w the rest!
  10:49am
Nate the K:

Hang in there.
  10:49am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

issues? I thought the band was just really good at restarting their songs mid-stream.
  10:50am
dc pat:

whoa, Cavendish DIDN'T win...
  10:50am
Marmalade kitty:

the *issues sounded good to me! :)
  10:51am
Mike East:

these guys rawk!
  10:57am
Cecile:

ahahahah!

The original Rolo song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlXA4tS9pl8
  10:59am
BSI:

@Cecile: Classic bittersweet tale about finding old art supplies: YAY, here's my old Rapidograph set! .... BOO, no amount of military-grade napalm will clean out these nibs...
  11:00am
Cecile:

Exactly....
But paper doesn't go bad, thank god!
  11:06am
Jex:

Good band.
  11:06am
zoran:

never heard roomrunner before but it's takin' me back anyway... great set.
  11:07am
dc pat:

kids are a great excuse to buy all kinds of new paints, brushes, what have you..
  11:19am
Cecile:

Kids? They better not touch my stuff. :D

Ah, Vaz. What the Mission of Burma new stuff shoulda sounded like.
  11:20am
Leigh:

Jason, this was great packing music!
  11:22am
Cheri Pi:

Vaz sound so good to me right now. As does Ed Schraeder
  11:23am
sean:

YES! this friend collector ep is easily the best thing out of baltimore besides ed's new lp!
  11:27am
Cheri Pi:

MOB meets feargal sharkey?
  11:32am
paula pc:

this set has been killer, and then the Moss Icon? Ahh...
  11:38am
BSI:

Sudden Infant: Always a good and proper decision.
  11:41am
Cecile:

fore-MIKE-uh, I think...
  11:42am
Chris from DC:

Aw, missed the Foul Swoops.
  11:44am
Marmalade kitty:

Great show Jason! any chance Franz ferdinand will be streaming ifrom Barca?
  11:45am
dc pat:

"Irwin?" Who's that??
  11:47am
dc pat:

man, I gotta see OFF!
