Some the Giver Drum!

Give the Summer Dram!
  5:47pm Matt from Springfield:

Sounds good--that would be like a dram of Scotch in the summer...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Doug S.:

Or a scrum of ram in the otcher.
  5:58pm listener james from westwood:

I like this theme because it'll make Ron Paul cry.
  5:58pm Matt from Springfield:

LJfW, should be coming in soon...
  6:00pm Matt from Springfield:

YES! Nearly perfect! If only my comment had shown up first...

Hi LJfW, perfect timing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Doug S.:

@LJFW And Glenn Piss-ant Beck.
  6:01pm Matt from Springfield:

Can one buy gold-bug spray?
  6:03pm listener james from westwood:

f glenn beck and his scams. i prefer to send my gold to these folks: http://www.catsforgold.com/
  6:04pm listener james from westwood:

good later-in-tuesday to all! matt, you can read me like a book. or a clock. or perhaps a book on the topic of clocks. the chrononomicon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Doug S.:

Oh, you mean that golden stream of misplace liquid my cat is depositing all over the house is really worth something, eh?!
  6:08pm listener james from westwood:

that cat is taking the concept of "striking a rich vein" way too seriously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Doug S.:

Nothing like cat urine to kill a conversation. (Was it curiosity that killed the cat conversation?)
  6:11pm holland oats:

anybody see venus? cloudy over here
  6:11pm Matt from Springfield:

As a longtime observer of Government, here's some arcane trivia to clarify the gold at "Fort Knox": while "adjacent" to the Army's Fort Knox, the U.S. Bullion Depository is a completely separate facility, owned by the Treasury Dept instead of the Defense Dept, and guarded by the U.S. Mint Police:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Bullion_Depository
  6:12pm Matt from Springfield:

The U.S. Mint Police also have a Wiki page--you can add them to your list of small, obscure police forces.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Doug S.:

That's bullcrap, Matt from Springfield. I saw that James Bond movie and thus know the real deal. Speaking of which, check out our next track...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Doug S.:

Hey, howdy holland oats!
  6:15pm Matt from Springfield:

Gold Digger!
"Waiphot Phetsuphan" looks familiar, I think he's one of the more common Thai singers heard on WFMU/GTDR. I think this is one of the popular voices too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Doug S.:

There is a Waiphot of gold at the end of the GTDR rainbow.
  6:17pm Matt from Springfield:

Jazzy Goldfinger! Love the Señor 007 title as well!

Oh come on, would those Mafiosos really be so dumb to believe that Goldfinger's gas will "knock you out for 24 hours", when it in fact is a deadly gas?!
  6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

I was in Thailand almost 2 years ago--more so than gold, they did have Waiphots of jade. I bought my mom and myself jade, cut and set fresh from the workshop that made it!
  6:20pm holland oats:

venus, people, venus! look out your window!
  6:20pm listener james from westwood:

dealing with goldfinger's gas was one odd job.
  6:22pm Matt from Springfield:

@holland oats: I know about the Venus transit, though it's hard to see any astro phenomena in the DC area. I'll try when I exit this building.
  6:22pm listener james from westwood:

the live sun feed i'm picking up also seems to be showing a mother-huge solar storm in progress. best i get my tinfoil shack ready!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Doug S.:

Funny, the government implants in my back molars aren't picking up a thing.
  6:26pm Matt from Springfield:

Original Gold Rushers!! Love this garagey, brassy, groovy rock! From the '60s?
  6:27pm Matt from Springfield:

@Doug: Not so up-to-date on electromagnetics, but I think an intense solar storm will actually give us a respite from our government minders and betters listening in on us.
But wait, that also means we can't listen through our WFMU cranial implants!! Good thing I'm next to a computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Doug S.:

Your tongue has a handy USB patch, yes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Doug S.:

Kind of rough to start a band call the J.F.K. Quintet in 1962.
  6:31pm Matt from Springfield:

Oh, silly me! I've been listening through earbuds, analog sound! When I had a perfectly good direct digital connection under my tongue the whole time!
  6:32pm Matt from Springfield:

@Doug: Or that comedian who made a career out of JFK impersonations? Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket...
  6:34pm listener james from westwood:

vaughan meader. the swiftest unpersoning since stalin.
  6:36pm Matt from Springfield:

Attention: Venus Transit Authority!
While keeping careful tabs on both active comment boards, good ol' Danne D has provided us with links to watch the Venus transit!

  6:37pm Matt from Springfield:

Great follow up, LJfW, thanks for giving the guys name!
  6:39pm Matt from Springfield:

Kathy & Carol, beautiful duet. Love those gals.
  6:40pm listener james from westwood:

thanks for the links and the kudos! slight correction: he was a vaughn. looks like he at least tried to do post-dallas stuff, but just couldn't get relaunched.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Doug S.:

Her golden mammories???
  6:42pm listener james from westwood:

as found on the girl james bond finds in his bed in "goldfinger"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Doug S.:

Phew, now it all makes sense. Thanks LJFW.
  6:44pm Matt from Springfield:

Liking these Gypsies too!
Though, shouldn't they be called "Roma"??
  6:45pm Matt from Springfield:

Though it would be hard for the Impressions to sing "Ro-ma Wo-man..." Mushes together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Doug S.:

Still giggling from the Roma comment.
  6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Pleased to make some giggles.
  6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Before I get on out of here, a short burst of the political:
No matter what the outcome of Wisconsin's recall effort against Scott Walker, it's made the Republicans drop $40 mill, on a state election, during a Presidential election year. To merely protect something mid-term they already won 2 years ago. Satisfactory!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Doug S.:

Yeah, but I really want that spanking administered. Go cheeseheads go!
  6:50pm Matt from Springfield:

Hands rubbing together in anticipation of a spanking myself...

  8:35am Doug S.:

Mentally, I'm already onto Thursday. This is confusing.
  8:44am Van in DC:

I must say, glad I remembered to catch up on archive with this show. It's been pure gold so far.
  8:47am Doug S.:

As long as it provides you a silver of hope, Van.
  8:56am Van in DC:

I like the Kathy & Carol tune. Never heard of them, but this write up seems apt:

  9:00am Doug S.:

So so good.
  9:10am Van in DC:

Awww. So you got the Kathy & Carol LP from Holy Warbles? Got any other sources for that...? ;)
  9:29am Van in DC:
