Hi Carmichael! Hi john! Hi Ricardo M.! Let's get this thing going.
  12:02pm
listener james from westwood:

  12:02pm
Alf from Upstate:

AstroRadio! Welcome back Amanda!
  12:05pm
Marchand:

Oh, Amanda. Whatchoo gonna do?
  12:05pm
Hipshake:

I am SO ready for this show.
  12:09pm
kat330:

Hello, Amanda! Listening but I'll be in the kitchen for a bit here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
Amanda:

Me too, Hipshake :-)

Thx Alf, and welccome back to YOU TOO! Marchand, a pleasure as totally always. Happy cooking kat330.
  12:13pm
listener james from westwood:

kat, listening from the kitchen is the perfect excuse to turn it UUUUPP!
  12:23pm
kat330:

OK, back. Yep, James, I had it turned up as high as I dare with the windows open on a beautiful, not-so-hot-humid Wednesday. Fortunately we have a remote speaker into the kitchen.
  12:24pm
lordly delights:

holy cowsmoke, you are playing my perfect songs!!! brains out of ears onto marble. FANKS LADY!!
  12:24pm
kat330:

Hey, there's a bride theme going on -- something you want to tell us out-of-the-loop folks?
  12:25pm
listener james from westwood:

i hear ya. i have my laptop in the kitchen so i can stream there too if need be.
  12:29pm
john:

Waterproof socks?
  12:30pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Fuck-Ton. Maybe I lead a pretty sheltered existence, but I have never heard that descriptor before today. Thanks Amanda. I am sure it will remain stuck in my head all day.
  12:31pm
kat330:

Yeah, I heard that, too. And one other time she was talking about her shoes being drenched on a very rainy day. Shall we take up a collection to get Amanda some proper walking shoes?
  12:31pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I does definitely sound larger than a shit-ton.
  12:32pm
Ricardo Montalban:

"IT", I meant. my typo sounded immodest.
  12:33pm
kat330:

And illiterate. ;)
  12:33pm
Marchand:

Might be better to go Back to the Future and get some sort of hovercraft shoes.
  12:33pm
kat330:

Glad you have a fuck-ton of music to lay on us because I have a crap-load of ironing and other domestic duties to do.
  12:34pm
Artie:

Naz bringing the Rawk today!
  12:35pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Amanda, this show rocks plenty. And by plenty, I mean a shit-ton.
  12:36pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I am only reserving fuck-ton for the totality of the show, which I have no doubt will rock in fuck tonnage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Amanda:

Hmm, Marchand, you may have hit upon something BIG. kat330, yay! The equation for that is FT (M) = CL (I). THANKS so much, Ricardo and lordly delights! I am delighted.
  12:41pm
kat330:

If I eat vewy, vewy slowly, maybe I can put off the I and stretch out the lunchtime a couple of hours for the FT (M). Hell, it's supposed to be cool tomorrow a.m., too -- I'll put it off until then.
  12:42pm
SteveL:

The Waitresses are always proper addition to any rock-weight classification system.
  12:42pm
Anna Belle:

I think it would've been physically impossible to do this show w/out the Waitresses.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm

Ain't that the truth. (both SteveL and Anna Belle.)

What happened to Nelson?
If one of them dies, will they become Half Nelson?

Freakin' awesome. Sounds like the best Outfield rip off band ever.

Brian, is Shelley the Cat still in your household w/ Spencer the Dog?
  1:01pm
kat330:

Me, too, SteveL, esp. the damn part.
  1:01pm
SteveL:

Kat: Damn straight!
  1:02pm
Brian in UK:

Cats are Claude & Peris. We did have one called Shelley about 20 years ago.
  1:02pm
Doug S.:

And three cats. Don't forget the three cats (they would never forgive me).
  1:03pm
Brian in UK:

Make that 30 years ago.
  1:03pm
R. Dean Taylor:

@SteveL and kat330: True dat.
  1:03pm
kat330:

I thought perhaps it was an erstwhile pet as my Shelley the Cat is, too, a dozen years ago.
  1:04pm
kat330:

Another Hoosier, RDT? Mollusk!
  1:04pm
SteveL:

Give the Drummer Some=get some. Oh yeah.
  1:05pm
Brian in UK:

Doug, how is your new cat settling in?
  1:05pm
R. Dean Taylor:

@kat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Wants_Me
  1:06pm
Brian in UK:

This batch of chickens did not get named.
  1:07pm
kat330:

Oh, wow, RDT! Hoagy Carmichael and Cole Porter want you. :)
  1:08pm
Doug S.:

@Brian
The new cat would be settling in better if our two original cats weren't attacking her constantly. We've done everything by the book, but it hasn't worked out too well. The new cat loves to go outside and she spends most of the day unmolested in the backyard. Meanwhile, one of our other cats is still so freaked out by the change that he is peeing all over the house. Definitely no Youtube-worthy cat action going on here.
  1:10pm
kat330:

@Doug: I'm familiar with the pet adjustment period. I hope peace love and understanding prevail soon.
  1:10pm
Brian in UK:

Amanda, could I direct you towards Daara J's 'Boomerang' on Wrasse.

Get the dirt tray out again.
  1:13pm
ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
  1:14pm
Marchand:

<3 Ex-Models.
  1:15pm
Brian in UK:

We had the same trouble with the chickens when we were donated one over a year ago. It still gets pecked & hassled our advantage is that they are in the garden.

Hey ndbob.
  1:16pm
kat330:

Whenever your name appears, I always think "nabob." Hi there!
  1:17pm
ndbob:

heya Kat!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm

Which would initially work for someone here in my hometown.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
Amanda:

Someone hadda do it.
  1:20pm
SteveL:

Saw Pete Shelley on this tour. Great, except when the tape backup glitched on this song. Punk-rock crowd was unamused.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
Amanda:

SteveL -- Haha, I have no doubt that they were pretty ticked off!
  1:25pm
SteveL:

No one threw anything heavy, but plenty of boos.
  1:28pm
SteveL:

Amanda: Were you stalking me in college, (and a year or two after)? Reminding me also of a cover of 96 Tears by a Madison WI band, (and others I'm guessing.)
  1:29pm
Nico:

Tears of a clon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm
Amanda:

If it's '78 we're talking, it would have been hard to stalk as a 0-year-old. But I don't remember that time very well so I suppose it's possible.
  1:32pm
kat330:

Re: The English Beat: Doing a reggae-beat cover is often special. Bonne Raitt also put a nice reggae spin to her recent cover of Right Down the Line.
  1:33pm
kat330:

Or ska, perhaps I should amend.
  1:33pm
SteveL:

More like 79-84, but that would still be plenty creepy.

"Who's that kid behind you? She keeps writing down songs you're listening to."

I AM thinking of you, Amanda! And my fellow listener(-commenters)! And GTDR!

  1:54pm
Danne D:

Always a mixed blessing seeing the playlist as now I know all the good stuff I missed :(

SteveL:

Danne D: A few weeks ago I lamented missing three specific band on Joe B's show, so he played three more cuts! Radio lottery winner!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
Amanda:

Aw, Danne D, there are archives for you, so turn that frown upside-down. And, MfS and northguineahills, thank you for your thoughts. Yes, it's a collie.
  2:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, didn't know Waylon & Willie covered this, and so soon after its original release.
"Gold Dust Woman" is quite the twangy song--all covers of it (except of course, Hole's) always seem to end up even twangier than Fleetwood Mac's.
  2:05pm
northguineahills:

holy crap, I actually have this LP. Love Waylon & Willie!

  2:10pm

Thanks Amanda, I think the collie and hearts is somehow the perfect title card/cover for this radio show--fits the spirit!

(I am also reminded now of the "buttercup" drawing you did last year--that was a good one!)
