Tee hee! Finally catching a show live again, and it is one for heat. Cheers from the desert!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am charlie:

tucson in the house!
  11:18am listener james from westwood:

feeling like las vegas in northern nj! all we need is free drinks at the tables and a bunch of elvii.
  11:23am Katya:

When we were kids, we camped at a walled in campground in Vegas. We had never been so hot. An ice cream truck jingled "Little Brown Jug" as it trolled through the streets of the adjacent neighborhood. We pedalled our bikes with training wheels for all we were worth, kicking up dust, but never found a way through the wall to the teasing tune. Mouths and faces full of dust, heads aching from the sun, score one for the desert.
  11:26am Katya:

Thursday - Clear. High of 110F. Winds from the SW at 5 to 10 mph shifting to the WNW in the afternoon. ---- Still, I'll take it over heat with humidity. Those in wet lands are the heroes of summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am charlie:

May all find a way through the wall to the ice cream truck. (Or to a cup of hot tea, if it's cold and rainy.)
  11:34am Doug S.:

Loving the show so far, Charlie! I bet the music will be great, too.
  11:34am listener james from westwood:

katya, that's like a bad dream, or some cruel psych experiment! great little anecdote either way!
  11:35am listener james from westwood:

charlie, i'll have two spoons ready: one to dig under the wall, one to dig into the italian ices.
  11:41am charlie:

@Doug, we'll see if the show lives up to the comments ;)
  11:41am Katya:

Thinking of ya yesterday, Doug. Your nuthouse compilation came up in play.
  11:46am Holly in NC:

Charlie - Your header photo is perfect, especially the snarky smiley!
  11:48am Michael:

Hey charlie, James, Katya and Doug. - the picture sums up the last 2 days perfectly. Current temp: 93
  11:49am Katya:

Hey, Holly, thanks for the tip on the Songs from a Random House Donna Summer cover. Ouch, Michael, you cooking in the NYC metro area?
  11:50am Holly in NC:

@Katya -
Wow! I'm so glad you found & liked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11:54am Michael:

I'm in Boston - southern suburb of the Brattleboro metroplex
  11:55am Brian in UK:

Hello, there seems to be a rash of visuals recently, Faye is hitting them on her show.
In lieu of nothing I think the station manager has a lot to answer for.
  11:56am Katya:

Love it! You might also enjoy the Kodaly School for Girls' cover on recorders. Totally different, but still fun.
  12:00pm Carmichael:

Hiya Chaz. Ready for anything ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm charlie:

"Here goes Nothing!"
  12:02pm ndbob:

Heya Charlie!... here for the beginning at least - may have to run out for a bit
  12:03pm Carmichael:

Katya, are you in Tucson? I spent some time there at Davis-Monthan. Lots of fun.
  12:06pm Katya:

Yeah, Carmichael. All that pavement at DM, it's a wonder you folks can keep it together out there. Every time we go to an airshow, I see people drop from heat. Congrats on surviving it -- and in uniform no less!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm charlie:

Hi Bob! Glad to see you all. Back to the stacks!
  12:17pm northguineahills:

I love this Herbie Hancock Rain Dance/
  12:18pm jan:

All right! Here for your show, and loving it.
  12:22pm Ike:

What about a rain to wash away the scum, the dogs, the filth? Well, maybe not the dogs, if they're nice dogs. But the rain should wash away the yappy little mini-dachshunds that nip at my heels.
  12:23pm Carmichael:

You must have seen Taxi Driver, Ike. That DeNiro monologue about the rain was eerie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm charlie:

Hi Jan, nice to see you!
@Ike -- the rain can wash away whatever you desire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm charlie:

Happy (belated) birthday to Paul.
Happy (belated) summer solstice.
  12:29pm don:

amazing transition! got us cold grooving through the heat
  12:30pm Ricardo Montalban:

Funny, but I am one of those contrarian cranks who tends to dislike Macca, but I'll be damned if this song hasn't aged well.
Anyone remember the video?
  12:31pm Michael:

I remember this video - Paul playing all the parts except for Linda that is.
  12:32pm Ricardo Montalban:

I liked that there was a character who seemed to be Ron Mael
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm charlie:

That video foresaw the whole Pomplamoose interweb video phenomenon.
  12:33pm Michael:

Right on the Mael. Paul at his most charming in that one.
  12:34pm Holly in NC:

The video is brilliant! an all time fave http://youtu.be/cDBkySeyiDo
  12:35pm Ricardo Montalban:

"..McCartney identified characters that were impersonations of specific artists: Hank Marvin (guitarist from The Shadows), Ron Mael of Sparks (keyboards), and a 'Beatlemania-era' version of himself. While others such as author Fred Bronson have suggested that there are other identifiable impersonations in the video, such as Andy MacKay, Frank Zappa and Neil Young,[5] McCartney said the other roles were simply comic relief.." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coming_Up_(song)#Music_video
  12:42pm Dominick:

This Supremes track is mind blowing!
  12:42pm Amanda:

Please, don't knit me a sweater!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm charlie:

well, how about "write you a love letter"?
  12:51pm Amanda:

That, and all the other items on the list, would be just fine. Hi!!!
  12:55pm ndbob:

Hi Amanda!
  12:59pm Amanda:

Hey ndbob!
  1:01pm Holly in NC:

  1:10pm Michael Shelley:

Great show! Must go cut the lawn now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm charlie:

Thanks for dropping by and sayin' hi, Michael! Now the chores...
  1:18pm Katya:

Sounds like the vocalist of The Lemon Pipers
  1:18pm Ricardo Montalban:

sounds like someone's shaking this song by the shoulders rigorously while it's trying to make music.
I like it, though.
I wonder if Bryan Ferry heard this?
  1:23pm Carmichael:

I don't think that was the Black Oak Arkansas vocalist Jim Dandy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm charlie:

he did come to the rescue, though
  1:25pm Katya:

clever bunch -- as usual
  1:32pm Gary Mitchell:

luv this lu horta
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm charlie:

Hi there, Mr. Mitchell!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm charlie:

It's the Shakers -- leaders of the Uruguay Invasion!
  1:41pm Carmichael:

Ol' Bob Welch bringing me back to the GOOD Fleetwood Mac.
  1:43pm Gary Mitchell:

loved that shakers too.. hooks a plenty
  1:43pm Ike:

I really dig this Phantogram EP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm charlie:

That song, fittingly, has a hypnotic groove.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm charlie:

Me too, Ike. I also like their album, Eyelid Movies, a lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm charlie:

The Shakers were more than just a South American Beatles band; they had some great songs.
  1:51pm listener james from westwood:

gaah, lost part of the 2nd hour to meetings. will supplement via the wonders of archived music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm charlie:

I think your job should work around your radio schedule, James ;)
