Hello Joe and all the listeners.
  12:35am
Droll:

G, We should show Sir Elton some respect.
I once convinced a friend the line "I may sink a little drink and shout out She's with me!" was actually "Shout out Jubilee!". As a bisexual glam rocker he made it easy to "prove" my point. I always liked him for that.

joe do you have more 70s funk? and my least fave is his version of "pinball wizard"
  12:43am
Droll:

I cannot answer the question on the grounds I refuse to find out what's on this "The One" CD, and the worst EJ song might very well be on it.
Avatar 12:45am

@G: Ha ha ha! @benny: I HATE fucking "Crocodile Rock." @Droll: There might be something even better on "Too Low for Zero."

Man, I forgot about that one. You know what I really don't like? "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues."
  12:55am
Droll:

G, Never heard it, but based on the title, I think we have a "winner".
  12:55am
G:

I know more about Elton John then I ougth ot admit. He played two concerts in my high school gym (American School in London) just as Yellow Brick Road was coming out.
  12:56am
G:

@Droll: As I recall, it's a cheesy satire on then newly mainstream reggae

We can mock and moan all we like, but he's one of the top 10 best selling musicians of all time. I'm sure the money helps him cope with the embarrassment and humiliation we've caused him here.

  1:04am

I'll bet she's even coffin today.
  1:05am
G:

"Your Song" is kinda sappy, but not a badly done song.
  1:06am
Droll:

No no no! He's got the money! We're here to humiliate and embarrass!
I'm just saying we've got a long ways to go before the hush money starts rolling in.
  1:06am
benny:

i like the blue canoe song
  1:07am
j-No:

"Friends". soundtrack theme. A wonderful film which not only promotes unwed teen pregnancy, but advocates having your baby in a filthy old shack.
  1:08am
G:

The Captain & the Kid was the Taupin reunion album, Joe, (2006) -- picking up where Capt Fantastic left off in 1975. EJ was pissed that Interscope didn't "promote it right" because it only made #18 on the US album chart and disappeared quickly.
  1:08am
Matt from Springfield:

"Daniel" -- one of the most mysterious pop singles of the 70s. Btw, the MTV Unplugged version by Elton in 1990 is very different, but very worth hearing. Beautiful.

Hey Joe and everyone!
  1:10am
Matt from Springfield:

@j-No: DJ Julie is big on that soundtrack: a wonderful, very free lovin' early 70s film.
  1:12am
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, that movie is kind of like me! All I need is to get murdered...and to get a girlfriend...
  1:14am
miss cheri:

joe,,thnx for havin me i have to head out now..have a good week and see you next weekend night all!!
Avatar 1:14am
Joe McG:

Hey, Matt! I have the "Friends" soundtrack also.
  1:17am
Matt from Springfield:

Sam Hawkins, new artist to me; if he's got Ellie Greenwich songs under his belt, that's good bona fides.

Hey Joe! Amazing soundtrack that is, relic of a more "hippy" age!
  1:18am
Matt from Springfield:

And speaking of Brill Building performers, great "Walking In The Sand" dub! Back when Belinda Carlisle was punk, apparently she and her bandmates liked to perform that Shangri-Las song.

I think there's a recording of that, Matt! Some club gig.
  1:26am

hey joe, do you know if a compilation with a bunch of old stuff Zappa recorded in cucamonga among other stuff is in the new pile? I forgot what it's called, I think it's named after the producer. Came out this month.

Lodger, perhaps DB's most underappreciated album, the last of his Eno-collaboration trilogy...
  1:29am
miss cheri:

i also love bowie too joe,,,
  1:29am
Matt from Springfield:

Hey mike noble! Did you play radio musical chairs last Wednesday? :)
  1:30am

They would collaborate again on outside, though. So it's not really the last one.
  1:31am
G:

The last of the so-called Berlin trilogy with Eno...
  1:31am
mike noble in dc:

did they do that on SSD this week? i'm afraid i was on a sail boat somewhere in the east river during that time period.
  1:32am
Matt from Springfield:

@mike: Missed that live, but caught up on Archives. It somehow worked out!
  1:32am
G:

Two shellshocked victims of EJ requests on the air together. Do you get a hazardous duty increment?
  1:33am
Droll:

(er, Belew powered Bowie) A fine follow up after Fripp. Here's where I confess being a King Crimson fan, too..
  1:34am
G:

@Droll: Not looking at it... And then... Looking at it.... I WISH YOU WERE HERE TO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
  1:34am
Matt from Springfield:

The Bruderschaft can, and WILL, continue on...
  1:37am

Allentown was hammered, not drilled, into our minds with that clanking sound.
Thanks for putting that back...

'73 or '97 version? :)
  1:38am
king penguin:

That is a very convincing Dooblin accent. More Christy Moore!
  1:39am
Matt from Springfield:

Hey, not twice! The first version was nice. The second version, well, she was a famous friend of his, you knew he would come out with some song in tribute to Di.
  1:40am

The first version was really pretty sappy, right? :-)

Whoa---unfamiliar Stevie! Sing it, Stevie!

@Joe: Well it couldn't hurt to play some Elton ;)

I'm still advocating making fun of Sir Elton until we get some hush money.

Speaking of moving, we are not there yet but I am "editing" my clothes right now. T-shirts are huge problem. Of course some are keepers no matter what.
  2:12am

And a double whoaey...wonderful Kris! Kind of different than his usual...reminds me so much of Nashville Skyline, if Bob were singing this I'd totally believe he would have written this as well.
