Listener comments!

  12:01pm
SteveL:

Yea!!!!! Hot tunes, hot weather and (appropriately respectfully) hot hostess. Let the day off continue!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
Amanda:

You're too kind, SteveL! Here's hoping that as the day wears on we won't add "hot studio" to that list...
  12:10pm
Brian in UK:

Hello Amanda. I had the original Sailcat album of Motorcycle Mama. Loved the line 'If the chain don't break'. Used to have a sidecar too.
  12:11pm
listener james from westwood:

lis'nin' and workin' but enjoyin' the work, and of course the tunes! howdy all!
  12:15pm
Brian in UK:

james, my daughter will get in touch soon. She's been busy getting un-unified. Just got her results, 2:2 in Ingerlish/Psychology. If only I'd worked at skool.
  12:15pm
G:

Working online, in a rush to finish by 3 for more holiday activities later...
  12:16pm
SteveL:

Better to be outside listening. Just destroyed, (intentionally) an old box spring. Life is good (and sweaty.)
  12:16pm
listener james from westwood:

ah, the rubaiyat comp. i remember buying that back in the day for the metallica "stone cold crazy" cover. sold it back to cd world some years later in a general music purge. the clerk's eyes bugged out of his head when he saw the lineup of artists.
  12:18pm
Brian in UK:

Elektra is the original FMU freeform label. Hail Jac Holtzmann.
  12:18pm
listener james from westwood:

brian: excellent, will be glad to gab when she's got a moment. i'm hoping 2:2 is a good grade; don't know how that compares to u.s. uni gpa but hope she aced 'em!
  12:20pm
Brian in UK:

She was a bit fingers crossed but came through. Really impressed given non-academic stuff going on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
Amanda:

I first heard that Elektra comp at a friend's house at age 16 and spent the next 15 years trying to find it. Ordered it from Amazon a couple of times and was thwarted by bad credit cards, stock problems, etc!
  12:42pm
Geordie:

Thanks for the auditory fireworks display, Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
Amanda:

Hey Geordie! The pleasure is all mine. Boom.
  12:53pm
Doug S.:

It will be fun to hang w/you during your show next week, Amanda! Amanda = fun!
  12:56pm
Brian in UK:

Doug, have a groovy break.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Amanda:

I am excited about it! (Doug is visiting Jersey City next week, so please prepare to make him feel welcome as he shows me how to use the console!)
  1:00pm
G:

Will consolation be involved? :-P
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm
Amanda:

I'll be trying hard to console all of you after my technical errors.
  1:05pm
Doug S.:

Amanda, I have completely forgotten the configuration in Studio C. I will be winging it on Tuesday when I do my show live from the Mothership.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Amanda:

But it's all different from how it was when you were last here! If you like, I can stick around for a minute after your show begins, or else give you a crash course before.
  1:10pm
Suzanne:

Nice selection!
  1:12pm
Doug S.:

I would LOVE a crash course! I will be at the station by 5pm on Tuesday.
  1:12pm
listener james from westwood:

  1:14pm

john:

  1:16pm
ndbob:

@Doug had company yesterday.. will catch the show on the archive
  1:16pm
Hugo:

Hi there - on an overcast day in Bergen (approx. 65F)
  1:21pm
Doug S.:

@ndbob Because you wouldn't dare subjecting fine company to something so crude. (He smirks.)
  1:24pm
ndbob:

@Doug my fine company loves crudeness, but hey we had to see if one of the white buffalo was visible - and one was:)
  1:38pm
Hugo:

Ah, Maybelle Carter: I have to listen to that one properly - I have it as a triple lp, very nicely packaged. The most expensive item in my collection is the Carter Family box on Bear Family. But you'll get a huge book with it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm
Amanda:

Yay, OK. I will do that Doug!

Hey -- I extend a big hello to Hugo, Suzanne, john, ndbob (+ buffalo), G, and all you guys from the beginning who I didn't say hi to individually.

Hugo -- A justifiable expense, in my opinion!
  1:41pm
northguineahills:

Been enjoying the whole set, I just haven't been near my computer.
  1:50pm
northguineahills:

Matmos does an awesome version of Stars and Stripes Forever.
  1:50pm
Hugo:

The Bear Family stuff is expensive, but in terms of packaging, unsurpassed.

It's supposed to (maybe) rain today... a break in the heat but I hope I don't get any records or computers wet.
  2:30pm
northguineahills:

You can never go wrong w/ the Beach Boys.
  2:31pm
listener james from westwood:

w00t! singalong!
  2:32pm
ndbob:

warm and humid here but not like yesterday
  2:43pm
Doug S.:

Amanda, one of the many amazing things about your show is that it is so easy to imagine you singing along to every track you play—you just leave the mic on every once in a while. That is just really compelling and extremely wonderful. Am I right, friends?
  2:43pm
ndbob:

excellent show Amanda.. I need to go .. catch the last few minutes on the archive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
Amanda:

Aw shucks. Now let's all sing to this!
  2:48pm
Irony Detector:

beepbeepbeepbeep danger will robinson!!!
  2:49pm
listener james from westwood:

agreed, doug. i had to listen closely for a bit to determine that it was not amanda accompanying "saturday in the park" when she played the nancy sinatra version.
  2:49pm
Mitt:

Now THIS is freaking music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm
Amanda:

No irony meant whatsoever, and certainly NO intention to invoke Mitt.
  2:54pm
northguineahills:

Good show. Man, haven't heard All since the mid-90s.
  2:55pm
Hugo:

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir was spectacular!
  2:59pm
listener james from westwood:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm
Amanda:

Hugo -- Agreeeeeed! I used to sing in a choir in church when I was a girl and I love that stuff.
