Merry Clayton had such a strong and powerful voice! Ever hear "Usher Boy"? She did this before "Gimme Shelter" and it's a joy to listen to!

The Rolling Stones were part of the big four: Beatles, Stones, Dylan, and the Velvets. The family tree!

Joe Non Papa:

The Stones are often faulted for the crime of having gotten old and complacent (we can't all die young and leave beautiful corpses), but for those of us who were teens in those early years of the British Invasion they were like a supernova. And I'll always thank them (and a few other Invasion bands) for making us aware of the treasure of American R&B and Blues that was often otherwise unplayed on local commercial airwaves.

jazzportrait:

Another great show Ted, the Robert Johnson songs are always a fabulous listen. And now in retrospect the Stones covers were actually well executed. They added a little late 60's vibe but still showed respect for the originals. Happy 50 th boys!
