  6:06pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Yay for double Dusty!! Hello Clay!
  6:07pm
Matt from Springfield:

Freedom of choice -- is what you got.
Freedom from choice -- is what you want.

DEVO! Great start Clay! Hey everyone!
  6:07pm
WRECKEDUMB:

Space with ACE!!!!!
  6:07pm
Fredericks:

Devo got an early gig by saying they were a Foghat cover band. It didn't turn out good.
  6:07pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi kata!
Hi Wrecked Dumb!

Hey Kitty, been awhile since I chatted with you!
  6:08pm
kat330:

Hi, Clay and everyone above (and below) this post!
  6:08pm
Fredericks:

Hello fellow Pidgers.
  6:08pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Hiya Matt! Good to see you!
  6:09pm
Matt from Springfield:

@MKitty: Have you been traveling? I noticed on a TSP Archive that you had been to Greece, and actually saw some of the street protests in Athens! Sounds exciting, but I never got a chance to chat with you since I saw your comment.
  6:09pm
WRECKEDUMB:

greetings earthling, Ace Frehley's home planet is called Jendell
  6:11pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hello Fredericks! Saying you're a Foghat cover band would probably have gotten you a gig, won't necessarily satisfy the audience watching a Foghat cover band!
  6:12pm
WRECKEDUMB:

KISS Solo Albums...The first time in the history of recorded music that 4 million albums went on sale the same day. had them all on 8 track. Ace's is the best
  6:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

Keep a "totem" in your pocket, and don't let anyone else touch it!
You need to know if you're in a dream or not, and whether those are real or dream police you're fighting!
  6:13pm
Marmalade Kitty:

@Matt, Yes, I haven't been able to listen and check in as much as I would like while away. I need to sort out my phone apps etc!
Avatar 6:14pm
Clay:

A quick hello everyone. I'm doing this show live so I'm juggling segments and songs and it's tricky. More later. Welcome!
  6:15pm
nyoukis:

yr boney ass better have Deep Purple lined up tonight, man. the whole of side B of Fireball would be cool....
  6:18pm
kat330:

Inception, right, Matt? Superb SF, rarely done so well on the screen! We're having a lot of lost stream problems here unfortunately. Storm's a-brewin'.
  6:19pm
Marmalade Kitty:

In Italy and Greece, town walls are covered with political graffiti.. seems there is a climate of protest amongst the student population, but less so amongst ordinary working citizens
  6:20pm
other david:

Double Clay, win!
  6:20pm
WRECKEDUMB:

Side A of In Rock would suffice too
  6:21pm
Caryn:

Hello all!
  6:22pm
Caryn:

Since Nolan shot some of the OWS protests, should we hope to see Clay in the crowd during the new Batman film?
  6:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

@MK: If you're ever commenting from an exotic location, say where you are in your comment heading! :D
  6:23pm
Timb:

Thank you for doing a double show today! Very excited! Keep up the good work, Clay.
  6:23pm
Dan Carlos:

Double Dusty will take me right to the end of the workday! Perfect!
  6:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hey OD! Caryn! kat!

@kat: Inception is an appropriate "masterpiece" for Nolan! Action-packed, well-written, yet managed to fit in just enough explanation for the strange experience, but not too much!
  6:24pm
Timb:

Greetings from Fort Lauderdale, Florida BTW!
  6:24pm
Marmalade Kitty:

..*not that students aren't hard working citizens also! they have to work their nuts off just to eat!
  6:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

Arthur Prysock, like a poor man's Tony Bennett!
  6:26pm
nyoukis:

man,, no mention of the scotsman you have met? I have yr 'business card'!! boo hoo... in regards to yr last speaker she speaks the truth! I have seen it first hand, even in my oen family in scotland, the media (then the newspapers) turning the lower classes against the unions and by effect their fellow people, and in eefect keeping witches like Thatcher (at the time) in power..
  6:27pm
hamburger:

pigeonnnnns - a couple of them made a nest for their chicks on my balcony a couple months ago.. I figured I'd let them stay till the chicks flew away.. BAD DECISION! turned my balcony into a poop war zone! just cleaned it all up today... then after cleaning it up, the pigeon comes back to do a spiteful farewell poop
  6:27pm
Matt from Springfield:

@MK: Increasingly, a student has to break their bank to learn, and their family's bank to learn something. And that's before they've eaten anything!
  6:27pm
Matt from Springfield:

@The Who: It's a put on.

@Clay I'd prefer we were known for the largest drive-in movie theater still open for business rather than the hometown of Marilyn Manson. :-)
  6:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

@nyoukis: Although, Thatcher was PM so long because even if you didn't want her in office, you can't just cast a No vote, you have to cast a vote in favor of someone to replace her. Militant left, Social Democratic left, centrists, anarchists/non-voters, hard for them to unite behind someone.
  6:31pm
Timb:

This is one of my favorite songs of all time, btw. Thanks Clay!
  6:32pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: I was just *waiting* for you to say what notable people Ft. Lauderdale is the hometown of! :)

my pal Rat bastard (Scraping teeh 'worst band in america' and To Live and Shav in LA) recorded Manson and The Spooky Kids demos down in Miami.

bird poop is like a bird signature marking their territory.. If you remove it while cleaning they will redecorate!
  6:34pm
kata:

ha, I know Chris from To Live and Shave...
  6:36pm
nyoukis:

@Matt from Springfield these days for sure man.. but back in 80's, no many voted for Thatcher in Scotland, and even in england there WAS a strong collected vote for the Left, back when the Labour party a recognisable socialist party, but by then the Murdoch media was really kicking in... they planted the seed of fear of the left, even in working class people. maybe our dads were too busy thinking about the tits on page 3 too worry about the shitty slide to the right.

I've been thinking about voting for the 2 ladies running on the Green Party ticket in November after reading their website material. Probably a wasted vote or even allowing Mitt to sneak in. But I'm really thinking of going with my liberal heart this time...

www.gp.org .... GREEN PARTY! OCCUPIERS SHOULD READ UP ON THEM!

Let's face it, there are some serious lapses in the Hall of Fame. Some major acts are missing.

dunno what the @Green party' represents in the USA, but here in Brighton where i Live now (far south of england) just voted the UKs ever first Green member Of Parliament. I've said before that I still love Obama, for various tangible things he's achieved, in spite of fierce opposition, and that he's at least *trying* to fix the many long-term problems of America. But he remains the ONLY politician I trust with America's collective "car keys" right now.

Brad is right--even if Obama is re-elected, I have no fucking clue who there will be to succeed him. What's going to happen four years from now, in any case?...
  7:00pm
Night Al:

I'm REALLY touting the Green Party USA! No one wants to hear about it here in Florida. I'm a speck of blue in a sea of red and i'm starting to turn purple. It's not easy being green, but sometimes you have to make the hard choice. Democrats and Republicans just don't do it for my live and let live liberal heart these days. Jill Stein speaks to me heart and her VP choice is awesome also! www.gp.org ....check it out.
  7:00pm
WRECKEDUMB:

That's hot....be hotter if you were in Paul Stanley's makeup
  7:01pm
Caryn:

Here, the Green Party has about 6 % of the vote, but in the presidential election, the Green Party candidate started a movement and ended up being 1st runner-up, beating the bigger party candidates. So if the candidate is inspiring enough, and does well in the debates, and gets people going, even a small party can rise up to be a serious contender.
  7:01pm

meh. gene's old fat and slow. plus, his canadian wife would take the patriotic stance and step in front of me.

Hey, Matt, CBS just profiled a very special little boy in Springfield, VA. Lemonade stand making money to give to a neighbor who suffered from your storms. Nice to know there's at least a *second* super Mensch in your neck of the woods! :)
  7:01pm

@nyoukis: Really? That MP is for your district? I was proud to hear about the first Green MP. Two party system split even more so in the UK, and Australia lately.

  7:05pm
Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Would you have a more positive opinion of Gora if he expressed a liking for Tim Hortons? :)
  7:06pm
nyoukis:

@nyoukis yeah man, she's the MP for Brighton, it was always on the cards that the first Green MP was gonna be from here, lot of green councilors. but sadly outside of Brighton we are surrounded by a sea of blue (tories), which as a scotsman abroad is such a weird feeling

but I'm probably going to vote for the Green Party this November. We gotta get serious with phasing out fossil fuels and affordable health and education for ALL American's. I'M SERIOUS ABOUT SPENDING MY FINAL YEARS GOING GREEN! C'mon my fellow Americans...WHO'S WITH ME?

Just learned how to play "Is Anybody Going To San Antone' by Charlie Pride.
  7:30pm
Danne D:

@kat330 not yet, nope
  7:30pm
Fredericks:

@Night Al: You sound like I did in 2000. Voted Nader felt good but when Bush won/stole the election, I felt guilty.
  7:31pm
seang:

that's Chicago style baby
  7:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Danne: Wondering if this concept was *intended* to fail...
  7:31pm
G:

cmon guys, that SSD text warning thing was Schtick with a capital S!
  7:31pm
kat330:

@Caryn: A very fine film. An acquaintance of mine's in the opening scenes -- David Mamet. The tall, thin lawyer.
  7:32pm
Danne D:

lol Matt perhaps :) or perhaps Andy thought better of it ;)
  7:32pm
Matt from Springfield:

In Russia, YOU interview Clay!
  7:32pm
kat330:

@G: They shouldn't have asked people to call in though then. Some of us have to watch our economics, green, white, red, or blue.
  7:32pm
Danne D:

@G oh I figured but it still would be funny to get a random text :)
  7:33pm
kat330:

OHHHH, yikes!! I mean David CLENNON! Holy crap, what kinda brainfart was that?!
  7:34pm
Caryn:

@kat: yeah, it's a movie I have a soft spot for. I also think it's kind of an appropriate movie to have on during the Clay show.
  7:34pm
northguineahills:

I'm reading a film review right now of "Big Fun In The Big Town" that features LL Cppl J.
  7:34pm
Matt from Springfield:

DJ Keili at the Hoof 'N Mouth: "Knockout Eileen"! \
Amazing, AND I think she may have been the first person to ever perform a mashup live, at least for a radio broadcast! :)
  7:34pm
Danne D:

This song reminds me of Keili at Hoof N Mouth :)
  7:35pm
Roadkill:

+Amazing, now-American citizens from Communist Russia exclaiming how our country is veering toward Socialism. I agree, but it's probably not a popular opinion on this venue.
  7:36pm
Matt from Springfield:

I remembered it well Danne!
  7:36pm
Danne D:

Had the same thought, Matt :) I hope that Keili does a fill-in sometime soon.

Screw the Brooklyn Nets btw.
  7:36pm
kata:

Fredericks: me too, voted for Nader. But don't feel bad though, it's up to the best candidate to win our votes. And the democrat who ran failed to achieve that. It wasn't your fault !
  7:36pm
Danne D:

Sportsytalk with Clay!
  7:37pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Nationalism is backward and inevitably leads to conflict. Nations and their borders are a concept designed to control freedom and to extort wealth and promote selfish interest. Global consciousness.. One love!
  7:37pm
Danne D:

I had my phone tagged with Fuck Nader (as in when it was open that was what it displayed instead of, say, my name) after the 2000 election.

I stand by that decision.
  7:37pm
kat330:

@Fredericks: I also voted for Nader in 2000. Had to write in his name since he didn't make the ballot in Indiana.
  7:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Roadkill: That is true, although since the US was always so much more "capitalist" than other Western countries, you could just as well say our country is veering towards Canada, or England. Even frickin' Australia!
  7:38pm
Fredericks:

But, I'm from Florida!
  7:39pm
glenn:

hell, you're right next door. how far do you have to veer?
  7:39pm
Mitt:

Vote Green in November, Fredericks!!!!!
  7:40pm
kat330:

I know, Fredericks, but there were folks trying to make *me* feel guilty even in Indiana.
  7:41pm
Danne D:

"Miss Me Yet?"
  7:42pm
Marmalade Kitty:

defend selfish interest!
  7:42pm
Roadkill:

@Matt: Yes, the U.S. is definitely more capitalist, but, remember, we didn't build that, somebody did that for us...
  7:42pm
George B.:

snickersnickersnicker
  7:42pm
kat330:

If the election were tomorrow, without a doubt I'll give Obama my vote of confidence, feeling optimistic he would conduct his second term with more vigor than his first.
  7:42pm
northguineahills:

Never figured Clay for a Chemical Bros. type of guy. One should never have expectations at WFMU. (Yes, I dig the Chemical Bros.)
  7:43pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Fredericks: Most American elections aren't very good at all for preference voting, or anything beyond the two party system. While voting Nader didn't help Gore defeat Bush, the thousands of voters randomly disenfranchised by Gov. Bush (DEJA VU PEOPLE!), and all the (probably conservative) Democrats who voted for Bush are what really doomed Gore.

What I'd really like is a better system--not just for one election in 2000, but all of them.
  7:43pm
Philo Gristle:

Only one way to vote this year... don't see any change possible until there are candidates from four parties. Dems / Rebs and Green / Tea.
  7:44pm
seang:

just don't vote
  7:44pm
Matt from Springfield:

Dem Reps who drink Green Tea! :D
  7:44pm
Danne D:

4,000 margin in NH.

26,000 Green votes.
  7:45pm
Philo Gristle:

You got it, Matt! :)
  7:46pm
kat330:

@Matt: Yes, like not having our elected federal administrators and lawmakers spend their first terms walking the straight and narrow and campaigning already for the second term election.
  7:47pm
kata:

tea party gives tea a bad name
  7:47pm
Danne D:

Question Clay has to ask listeners during next WFMU Marathon, let's see if folks here can answer it:

Q: What's the number 1 nation?
  7:48pm
kata:

this guy sounds a little like Peter Lorre.
  7:48pm
Matt from Springfield:

A1: America! Fuck Yeah!
A2: U! S! A!
A3: MY country!
  7:49pm
kat330:

@Danne: In what context? USA falls way down the list in many categories: Education, philanthropy, etc.
  7:49pm
Philo Gristle:

Afghanistan? 2. Albania 3. Azerbadzan. 4....
  7:49pm
Danne D:

@Matt no no no, c'mon man, what's the #1 nation?
  7:49pm
Caryn:

You go, my homeless brother!
  7:49pm
Danne D:

@kat in any context - what's the #1 nation?
  7:50pm
Danne D:

Nope, nope and nope...Philo

Clay do you know what the #1 Nation is?
  7:50pm
kat330:

Philo must have it right if ABC is your riddle. :)
  7:51pm
Philo Gristle:

Uranus is the #2 planet. #1 Nation stumps me.
  7:51pm
Danne D:

nope Philo is not right. Now c'mon folks - what's the #1 nation?
  7:51pm
Danne D:

OKAY you guys ready for what the #1 nation is?
  7:52pm
Matt from Springfield:

Trying to say it fast maybe, see if there's a play on words?
"Numberwonnayshun"...
  7:52pm
kat330:

Shoot!
  7:52pm
Matt from Springfield:

READY! Please Danne!
  7:52pm
Danne D:

DONATION!
  7:52pm
hamburger:

I'M READY! though I'd like a bit more time to hopelessly guess :)
  7:52pm
glenn:

that'd be norway.
  7:52pm
kat330:

Heh, Matt, I was doing the same thing!
  7:53pm
Danne D:

u.k.!!!
  7:53pm
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, Danne! THAT'S why you said, at the Marathon! :)
  7:53pm
Philo Gristle:

Glad to have a riddle you can get an answer to!!
  7:53pm
Danne D:

I knew that was the selection Clay would make for UK btw
  7:53pm
hamburger:

DOH a deer a female deer
  7:53pm
Night Al:

Uranus is NOT a black hole! It is a planet we don't know much about.
  7:53pm
Danne D:

That answer garnered my dollar from the panhandler that day, btw.
  7:53pm
kat330:

Yeah, well, while US citizens are very high up -- maybe #1 -- for generous donations in the world, our governmental giving is way down the list, behind some very tiny countries, too. That's embarrassing.
  7:53pm
kata:

I liked your answer Philo.
  7:54pm
Danne D:

And yes, I do own this album.
  7:54pm
nyoukis:

clay.. this is terrible. its worse then Fish from Marillion laying a dog egg in my ear... i love it.
  7:54pm
Danne D:

@Matt yep :) hope Clay remembers that one come March :)
  7:55pm
Danne D:

Don't listen to the haters, Clay. Awesome selection.

Love the syncopation in this song.

Good pre-Asia Wetton.
  7:55pm
md:

wow, havent heard this in a while! i think 'carrying no cross' was the superior track on this one. (danger money?) - bozzio!
  7:56pm
Roadkill:

+Please, Clay, after that last interview clip ("Love is love"), you've just gotta play Lennon's "Love"... RK
  7:56pm
kat330:

Well, if ANYone ever gets the answers to Evan's and Molly's riddles from last night's 7SD, PLEASE be sure to let me know?
  7:56pm
Danne D:

Clay not the first to play U.K. on FMU btw...

http://wfmu.org/artistbrowser.php?action=artist&artist=U.K.&artist_id=178467
  7:57pm
hamburger:

I got a little q, a survey was conducted at a retirement home, and the people were asked, what is the number one thing you wished you had done in your life? can you guess what was the top answer was?
  7:57pm
Danne D:

@m.d. this is off the "U.K." album
  7:57pm
Marmalade Kitty:

the earth is the greatest country on earth! I don't recognise your borders!?! not really. nice provincial spots here and there..
  7:57pm
Philo Gristle:

I can't complain... Clay played Bryan Adams last week.
  7:58pm
kata:

right on MK
  7:58pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Danne: There's a suggestion I have for Clay for Marathon time, have to remember to go back and send on your request too! :)
  7:58pm
kat330:

Merci and au revoir, Mr. Pigeon! Sleep sweetly folks! A bientot.
  7:58pm
Night Al:

  7:58pm
hamburger:

  7:58pm
Philo Gristle:

  7:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

Have a great night, all! Remembering Continually...
  7:59pm
Philo Gristle:

Cheerio, good listeners and Clay!
  7:59pm
Caryn:

@hamburger: daring to actually do things instead of backing away or second-guessing things?
  7:59pm
Danne D:

Have a good night everyone :)
Thanks Clay :)
  8:04pm
Fredericks:
