Evening, everyone.

12539:

Quietly here.
  9:24pm
Dave E.:

Evening Dave. Sounds good so far.
Avatar 9:31pm
Dave M.:

Thanks, Dave.
  9:33pm
doca:

hi dave, great stuff tonight.
  9:34pm
Dave E.:

What is the source for all your selections?
Avatar 9:35pm
Dave M.:

@doca: Thanks.
@Dave: Trade secret.
Avatar 9:36pm
Dave M.:

But seriously: Everything I've played so far comes from the WFMU library. But I did bring some music of my own.
  9:38pm
Dave E.:

It just blows me away that there are so many folks making music out there. I got so sick of the main stream many years ago . . . this side of things there is an endless supply of great stuff.
Avatar 9:41pm
Dave M.:

True. It's hard to keep on top of it all. Takes me a few hours every week just to go through the new music that comes in to FMU.
  9:43pm
Dave E.:

I just ordered the Cinematic Orchestra CD
Avatar 9:48pm
Dave M.:

You mean based on what you just heard?
  9:49pm
Dave E.:

Yes, I like
Avatar 9:50pm
Dave M.:

Great. I think if you liked that track you'll like the rest of the disc.
  9:53pm
Dave E.:

I listened to snippets of other tracks - very relaxing... needed when living in the tristate area!
  9:57pm
Dave E.:

Is that Dave m. humor coming out?
Avatar 9:57pm
Dave M.:

Yup.
Avatar 9:58pm
Dave M.:

That yup was in response to your previous post.
  10:00pm
Dave E.:

Hack & gouge?
  10:08pm
who me?:

whats up?
Avatar 10:11pm
Dave M.:

Oh you know, just doing the radio show.
  10:19pm
Holly:

Hey Dave! Just tuning in.
Avatar 10:20pm
Dave M.:

Hey Holly. Quoi de neuf?
  10:21pm
Holly:

rien de neuf. Viens de manger le diner.
Avatar 10:22pm
Dave M.:

No dinner here in Jersey City, malheureusement.

12539:

I think the pseudonym isn't always so much about secrecy as about managing expectations and separating personas. Think about The Old Codger, for instance, or Atom Heart's various projects.
Avatar 10:40pm
Dave M.:

I don't think the Old Codger reveals his real name. Wait a minute--that IS his real name.

Lulu:

Hi, great show! Was wondering if the comments section of the playlist can be accessed on the fmu iPhone app?
  10:58pm
12539:

Lulu, according to the wfmu blog, the iPhone app does:
http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2010/07/wfmu-iphone-app-v21-is-out.html

I know the Droid app doesn't.

Dave M:

Are you tapping tapes on the table while you speak?
Avatar 11:01pm
Dave M.:

CD cases, not tapes.
  11:02pm
burnout:

ok :)
Avatar 11:04pm
Dave M.:

@burnout: Sorry, just a charming habit of mine.
@Lulu: Yes, you can see the comments and make comments on the iPhone app. It's really fantastic. And free.
  11:06pm
burnout:

Actually, I think tapping adds a nice atmosphere.
Avatar 11:11pm
Dave M.:

I try to keep it to a minimum. It's really just shuffling the cases around looking for the disc I want to talk about. But I'm one of very few DJs here who don't use bed music when I'm on mic, so I need something, you know?
  11:15pm
Mary Wing:

Hi Dave! Would you make sure that Monday's log is the top page on the clipboard after you finish completing Sunday's? Thanks much!
Avatar 11:16pm
Dave M.:

Hi Mary. Sure. It's right underneath now.
  11:20pm
Mary Wing:

I know it is, but Small Change might forget, since he hasn't been on the air in a while. :-)
Avatar 11:20pm
Dave M.:

Yup, not to worry.
Avatar 11:21pm
Dave M.:

@Holly: If you're still around, new Laetitia coming up in the next set. (One of the rare times I've planned more than one song ahead.)
  11:21pm
12539:

Hi Mary! I've been sleeping responsibly during the week, but I do enjoy your archives.
  11:24pm
Mary Wing:

Hiya 12539, thanks! How's your summer going?
  11:26pm
12539:

Not a summer person, but so far so good.
  11:32pm
burnout:

oh what have i done
  11:34pm
Mary Wing:

Heh, me neither. I'm ready for autumn soon.
  11:54pm
Parq:

Hi, Dave M (and E and other fellow ears). Just a quick note to say what a splendid show this has been. My ears are smiling.
Avatar 11:55pm
Dave M.:

Why, thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
  11:59pm
Lulu:

Thanks, 12539!
