Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from October 23, 2012 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Blues Control  Live in the WFMU Studio   Favoriting Engineered by Dave Mambach      The duo of Russ Waterhouse and Lea Cho make their way out of their current digs in rural Pennsylvania for a return visit to BT's program this afternoon. Hot on the heels of some firstime Australian dates and a Drag City label release "Valley Tangents", Blues Control visit the studio to no doubt showcase recent sounds live. Piano, drum machines, guitars, tapes and effects all meld into a hazy blur of arena rock, prog, dub, and what an astute observer proclaimed to be ""mellow drug-mospheres around a crisp keyboard centre." Vince Guaraldi, '80s Groundhogs, and Cluster seem to have found a common ground. Love Live Life + 1...first time hearing them but what great psychrock!
  3:25pm
DCE:

Eddie-Money free since 1978!
  3:27pm
Matt from Springfield:

@DCE: Unless a listener submits Eddie Money's recent commercial as an industrial remix. That would be quite enjoyable.
  3:33pm
don s:

Did you see Mainliner at the Cooler that time with Lee Ranaldo and William Hooker (IIRC)? That was a sweltering sweatbox of skull-crush!
  3:39pm
adam:

I kinda thought this was Zappa (for a minute or two)
  3:45pm
Matt from Springfield:

Catholicism, and all that jazz.
  3:46pm
rob t.:

  3:47pm
common:

  3:48pm
rob t.:

and this Hart tune is also pretty damnfine! i can almost see Irwin frowning and thinking "man this is too good for me."
  3:48pm
1mckrs:

What the ever-loving hell?
  3:49pm
Matt from Springfield:

Oh Gawd, now David Liebe Hart's taking on Jersey Shore!?! His "incorrect" rapping about his Mom dying was amusing, yet also unrehearsed and raw. This is just banal.

Still...gotta admit those high vocals are still pretty funny!
  3:49pm
Cheri PI:

Oh Mah Jeezuz!!!
  3:49pm
?:

god bless you, Brian Turner
  3:50pm

bureau de change were fucking genius and someday the world will catch up to them.

Matt, I challenge you to an duel of musical aesthetics at 40 paces. :P
  3:50pm
Tom From Back-In-The-Day:

David Liebe Hart...wow. I am reminded of the Worlds Worst Rap Competition 7" from back-in-the-day.
  3:50pm
aannddyy:

i'm confused. I thought Snooki was female.
  3:51pm
rob t.:

O man, this Bureau de Change is also insane. Perhaps the best use of R2D2 samples ever.
  3:51pm
BSI:

[skeeters into the room, gasping]
....made it in time for Blues Control... koff, splutter...
  3:53pm
Matt from Springfield:

@rob t: Actually I pretty much share those aesthetics of yours! ;) I just lamented that it seemed Hart would make a very good "incorrect" singer, while this one was more like something Amanda would wail, written by her brother Jody.

Amanda could cover that, add some Indian hoots! Irwin perfection! :D
  3:53pm
Cheri PI:

Calm your self man [SLAP] !!
  3:54pm
joerg:

Green Mountain ... he had on khaki trousers and a short sleeved plaid shirt of some kind. He was dancing like Mitchell Forman from the 84' version of Mahavishnu. I know it sounds crazy.
