We've got three hours to raise $310 to get D:O RADIO to 100% of its goal. It's imperative that Give the Drummer Radio reaches the goal collectively, so success begins right here and now with THIS SHOW. Pitch in and help out!

  12:16pm
listener james from westwood:

i sent my clients notes saying i might be off the grid for a few days. one of them is on her honeymoon. i sent her the edited chapters of the book i was copyediting for her as a gift in case the power/internet outage extends. she'll get more use out of the chapters than another bloody place setting from the registry.
  12:18pm
Doug S.:

Bloody place settings? You have some gnarly clients, Listener James!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
Jeff G:

I'm sure the new husband will appreciate the gesture, LJfW.
  12:26pm
Doug S.:

We have to raise $310 during this show. If everyone listening ponied up just $10 right now, we be on easy street. Please give a hand. WFMU is counting on you.

Another pledge of $15 will kick this puppy up to 30%. C'mon, we gotta do it. Little bits at a time. Who shall the next savior be?

Note to potential donors: Just in the last 20 minutes since I pledged, I've gotten taller and better looking.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm

I can guarantee you that most radio shows on public radio that play adventuresome music like this — the few shows that really do — I can guarantee you that most would be dumbing down their content during fundraising time. Playing pretty, melodic, familiar tunes instead of plowing ahead magnificently like D:O RADIO is doing. Please reward this fabulous and courageous show! Make a contribution to WFMU using the pledge box above. D:O it now. Thank you!

[Haven't rebuffered once here, Jeff. I think maybe Sandy is pulling your chain a bit.]

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm

Woo -- this set's for you, northguineahills! We wrote to the label for this one and they responded with this, and two other Treader releases they just threw in! You will hear them soon enough...!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Jeff G:

...that is, assuming Doug doesn't pull the plug on D:O Radio for not pulling our weight in the fundraising dept...
  1:41pm
bgporter:

I can't believe that I've been snoozing on Tchcai. That was gorgeous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
Jeff G:

...can't actually hear the show anymore... :(
  1:44pm
northguineahills:

Yeah, I picked up that John Tchicai w/ Strings at the DMG when it came out, and it floored me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm
Doug S.:

Sandy, shmandy. Not having D:O RADIO would be a true disaster. (Maybe not a "toxic shitstorm," like New York Magazine called the overflow of the Gowanus Canal, but pretty awful.)

Jeff G:

Fred Braceful's drumming on this track is readymade for some hip-hop sampling.

Yelp! Yelp! Yelp!

We really need to get some pledges in for this great show. WFMU is in tough financial shape. Our spring Marathon no longer covers the station's annual budget.

Normally, our annual Record Fair provides a desperately needed infusion of late-in-the-year cash, but it's beginning to look like this coming weekend's record fair is going to be adversely affected.

Which makes your contributions now ALL THE MORE ESSENTIAL. Take a moment and make a donation to WFMU. If you have already pledged, please give just a little more. Even $5 or $10 will make a difference.
