Listener comments!

  9:03pm G:

In all the years this show had no comments, who was hanging around wondering what they would say, or when there would be a board?
  9:12pm Fiveash:

This is a stupid show.
  9:16pm Dumbly:

Comments on the Spazz Show !? This is odd.
  9:18pm G:

You're paying attention, Fiveash. Excellent. That will be on the test. :-)
  9:18pm SteveL:

Actually, I've always been happy to have it be just radio, not have to worry about the comments. Same with Bill Kelly, doesn't even put the songs up on the front page. I just have to listen.
  9:21pm Dominick:

What Matt said
  9:21pm Dumbly:

SteveL, I would also love to live in the 20th century, as you do. Alas, progressdystopia.
  9:25pm Twenty Something:

Romney voters *snort*
  9:30pm Ol' White Guy:

[shaking fist]

OFF MY LAWN!!
  9:33pm Twenty Something:

Back inside the nursing home, gramps *snort*
  9:33pm Julie:

Uh oh monkey has learned to work the internets, be very afraid
  9:34pm Board Monkeys:

We were always working the internetz. But yeah, be very afraid.
  9:48pm Producer:

Speed that theme up, and brighten it!!!!!!!!!!!
  9:51pm Producer:

Don't tell me. They were doing the monster mash.
  10:17pm Pine:

I need someone to dance with! Everyone's asleep!!!
  10:19pm SteveL:

OK, I have a deeply held lust for the 5678's. Dear GOD!
  10:20pm G:

Dance with him:

  10:27pm Pine:

ha ha nice one, not exactly the swinging party I imagined but he'll do :)
  10:28pm fleep:

It's a shame microphones were made of rocks and steel wool in 1964
  10:31pm floop:

It's a blessed gift microphones were made of rocks and steel wool in 1964
  10:31pm Pine:

Magical Telefunken rocks
  10:33pm G:

There *were* decent mikes in 64, but record companies did not think they were recording for the ages, so they didn't bother. They were recording, for replay via tinny radios and 10 dollar record players, discs that they expected would be played for a few weeks to a few months.
  10:43pm SteveL:

Throwaways. Wow.
  10:44pm bobby J:

KILLER SET!!!
  11:07pm listener listening:

I been listening to pitches for $ on here for a few decades but holy shit Spazz, THAT one I felt in my bones. Gonna have to pony up more -my wallet bleeding is better than WFMU bleeding.
  11:15pm Dominick:

Hey G, A Neumann U47 cost $250 in 1964. By 1967 many studios were throwing them out for the newer U67. Nowadays a non modified U47 will fetch $10K.
  11:23pm Ben in LA:

You rule Dave. McCoys great tune.
  11:35pm Andy and Emily:

Hey, hey from Iowa City... happy to throw in a recovery pledge for our adopted 'FMU DJ. Also, Comments to Spazz By!
  11:39pm G:

My maybe incorrect impression is that big money acts like the Beatles or prior big band acts used U47's, which go all the way back to the early WWII period, and were getting to be on the older side by 64 --

But meanwhile, smaller studios who didn't know if they were going to make much on a given recording didn't roll out (or maybe even have) the big guns of that era...

And compounding that, so many sonic corners could be cut at so many other steps in the process than choice of mic... Not exactly rocks and steel wool, but I get the original poster's point...
  11:48pm angelflem:

crazy good set, man
  11:55pm Spazz:

Thanks everybody!
  11:58pm Chamim':

Cruising the streets and listening to Spazz in my car. Great show!
  12:57pm john:

2nd set is messed up:

1) You did not play The Quest – "Ding Dong Twist." @33minutes that's Takeshi Terauchi & the Bunnies – "Kanjincho"

2) You omitted Shirley & Jessie – "You Can't Fight Love," preceding Buddy Holly.

What do I win?
