  1:18pm yak in chicago:

Hooray for new Subsonics! Great show, Joe! Can you refresh my memory- what is the dj bed music?
Avatar 1:18pm Joe B:

Ha! KP I know I just listened to last yuear's haul myself!
Avatar 1:23pm Joe B:

Hi Yak! It is from a video game called Strata Bowling. thanks for tuning in! hopefully subsonics will be here in a few weeks, probably on Terre T's show.
  1:28pm tim from champaign:

I looked at the RSD Black Friday list earlier today. Of interest were Beefheart 45s and the Velvet Underground 12" of the acetate found at a yard sale a few years back. Not RSD related but I saw Munster is releasing a 7" box set of Detroit Cobras early songs. I'm stoked about that.
  1:28pm efd:

You might have mentioned this, but Subsonics are playing at the Cake Shop on Saturday Dec. 8 -- with the Upper Crust!
  1:29pm yak in chicago:

That's fantastic news...hopefully the Subs will roll through here as well- been 7 or 8 years since they hit Chicagah.
Now John Paul Keith! You're a king...
Avatar 1:31pm Joe B:

Hi Tim, thanks, didn't notice that Munster release

Thanks EFD! Subsonics also Dec 7 with the Insomniacs at the parkside (I think that is the venue)

thanks Yak!
  1:50pm Wilson:

Whoa this song is amazing.
  1:54pm KP:

Flatlanders! Jimmie Dale Gilmour is so tremendous in person.
  1:57pm KP:

Looks like the Monte Meter has stalled a bit. Help Joe, help WFMU.
Avatar 2:01pm Joe B:

agreed, JDG is great, seen him twice
Avatar 2:02pm Joe B:

Thanks KP, yes, a pledge would be nice. Only have gotten one today, and 2 last week. Anything you can do to help out is appreciated. even your $5 record fair admission!
  2:03pm jljl:

this Rave is great power pop
  2:03pm tim from champaign:

Cool! Champaign Power Pop. Apparently the Red Lion hosted awesome bands like Cheap Trick and the Ramones but unfortunately helped launch the careers of some of the worst bands ever like Reo Speedwagon and Dan Fogelberg.
  2:07pm jljl:

tim: are you saying that Ridin the Storm Out isn't a great song? I say that with no sarcasm, love that song.
Avatar 2:10pm Joe B:

digging the rave. must confess, never heard of them until this cd reissue of this 1979 concert showed up here. Tim, thanks for the backround!
  2:11pm tim from champaign:

jljl: nope, just saying that the joint where the Rave record was recorded helped contribute to the noise pollution epidemic. P friggin' U. FYI: Main St in downtown Champaign is also Honorary REO Speedwagon Way.

Joe: I wasn't aware of them either until the re-issue.
  2:15pm jljl:

REO just played close to Boston last week. 70's bands keep going and going.
  2:46pm geokopp:

hey Joe: is ray lamontagne the 21st century dan fogelberg?
Avatar 2:47pm Joe B:

I'm happy to say I dont think I have ever heard one of his songs!
  2:49pm geokopp:

ha! good!
  2:51pm Droll:

The first REO Speedwagon records were cool, and I stuck with them when they changed their name to Starship Speedwagon, but I lost interest after they eventually became just Speedwagon and put out that Beautiful Music album.
YT has videos of them playing Ridin' The Storm Out at a county fair this summer using a slide-whistle for the siren and an extended pan-pipes solo.
  2:55pm tim from champaign:

Wait...I thought REO Speedwagon became REM Starship, then finally just REM.
  2:55pm Brett:

I am loving this music
  2:59pm geokopp:

yo! I pledged today!
  2:59pm beafdog:

I pledged! forgot to check the box for you, Joe. but know that in your heart, it's ALL YOU
