Listener comments!

Uncle Michael:

I'm Ichiban.
  3:09pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Ted! Welcome back to the Ichiban stream!
Good version by Mrs. Waylon!
Avatar 3:09pm
Ted:

Me too!
  3:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

Didn't know that Neil Young tidbit, thanks!

Also love "The Mighty Quinn" bed! Who does that?
  3:22pm
Euclid Joe:

In. Hi Ted!
Matt, what's happening?
  3:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

Happy Birthday, Miz D of the Georgia pines!
  3:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Joe! Doing great today, hope all's well with you.
  3:26pm
Uncle Michael:

I have no idea who get's the credit but before Ted came on here, I was listening to the main WFMU stream and between shows, James Last's best track, Mr. Giant Man played. I kvelled.
  3:26pm
Euclid Joe:

Beat to shit versions of Stoop Down Baby sound waaay better than mint copies IMHO

Ted:

Mighty Quinn by Joe Harnell
  3:28pm
Uncle Michael:

I'm a happy motherfuyer.
  3:29pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Ted!
@Joe: Beat up versions got *soul*. With this one it's about the feel, sound fidelity won't bring that kind of vibe to it.
  3:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

@UM: Dude, that's Fabio's theme song! Intros every show with it. Most FMUers know it from that--I'm pleasantly surprised you know of it from another context!
  3:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

And...during "DJ Battle" shows with Clay Pigeon, Fab plays a special FINNISH version of "Mr. Giant Man"!
  3:36pm
Uncle Michael:

@Matt...I've played it on my show. I stole it from a good friend that's been doing streaming radio since 1999 and it's one of his "staples." I guess it's been in my brain for a decade or so.
  3:37pm
Uncle Michael:

I need to hear that in Finnish. Wow.
  3:41pm
Matt from Springfield:

Glad to hear it, Michael!

  3:43pm
Matt from Springfield:

I like this version of "Stagger" Lee.
  3:45pm
Uncle Michael:

Thanks Matt. That playlist identifies it as from the album Voo-Doo Party but the version in Finnish isn't from the album. This might shed some light: http://finnpicks.blogspot.com/2009/09/giant-man-jattilainen.html
  3:48pm
Matt from Springfield:

"jattilainen"--I recall a previous playing of the Finnish Giant Man titled that.

Also like that when the electric guitar was soaring in popularity, Eddie still managed to rock it acoustically.
  3:51pm
Uncle Michael:

That "jattilainen" is the same version as on that playlist you posted.
  3:56pm
Euclid Joe:

Mississippi Delta always reminds me of Bobbi Gentry which is kind of a form of Viagra. Thanks Ted, now I need a cold shower.
  3:57pm
Matt from Springfield:

Nice guitar doodlin'!
  3:59pm
Uncle Michael:

I recently picked up an album of Glen Campbell/Bobbie Gentry duets. Sounds good on paper...but not on vinyl.
  4:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Happy Birthday once again, Jimi.
  4:07pm
NYC BOB:

Happy birthday indeed , Jimi! What a great track Ted.
  4:18pm
Matt from Springfield:

Neil's 180 flip from "Trans"!
  4:21pm
Uncle Michael:

R.I.P. Mr. Earl. The pride of PS 87.
  4:23pm
Uncle Michael:

Matt, I saw a show on the Trans/Pinks tour and if I live to be 100 I'll never forget the sight of an auditorium full of slightly aged hippies booing Neil Young.
  4:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

ANOTHER "how you call your loverboy" on the stream today! :)

@UM: Oh dear, you're right. Hats off to Earl and all the Cadillacs.
  4:55pm
Matt from Springfield:

Man In Black w/ TOM Petty! Thought this was another duet with Dylan at first.
Dylan, Petty, they're all Traveling Wilburys! ;) This is great though!
  4:55pm
Hackensack Slim:

UM,
Tuesday night at MSG, after the encore, Neil Young was actin like a monkey, beatin' his chest makin' monkey sounds and faces. In front of a bunch of old hippies. Hopefully his behavior was influenced by Dave the Spazz.
  4:58pm
Matt from Springfield:

Nothin' like smashin' up some so-called "orthodoxy", Slim and Michael! :)

Great show Ted! Thanks as always for the great tuneage, and glad to hear you again on the Ichiban stream! Have a great day everyone!
