@UM amAdeo's phoneline ends in... 330. I think not! The universe nods.
  4:11pm
kat330:

@UM: As Drummersome is fond of saying, there's no such thing as a coincidence. I differ on that but, no, the 3:30 post was cold and calculated.
  4:11pm
Philo Gristle:

amEdeo, deeeee-o. Daylight come and me wanna go home.
  4:16pm

Going to rest my fingers here for a bit. Just received the 125th anniversary issue of National Geographic which, by the cover, might be changing its name to National Astrographic. I'll be listening though and try to get back now and then!

  4:33pm
green mountain man mark:

Two and a half hours and then to my parent's house for the eve. I feel like going to the in-law family even though it is actually my regular family.
  4:46pm
kat330:

I used to have many genuine spiritual feelings about Christmas, especially alone with a lit tree and "Noel" on the record player. My family's crass, conspicuous consumerism killed it for me before my teens were over. I just consider it a time of year to be especially charitable and kind to one another. Nothing more.
  4:48pm
Philo Gristle:

Darin Morgan was GREAT! Clyde Bruckman and Jose Chung and a few more.....
  4:50pm
fred von helsing:

k330 I think I found out that the consumerism was in my child mind, not in the 'rentals
  4:52pm
kat330:

With older siblings, I was already an aunt at age 11, and it was my older siblings that drove the consumerism train around the bend.
  4:53pm
kat330:

Did JC ever say that to Joseph?
  4:53pm
green mountain man mark:

You guys are annoying I am shutting this shit off. Need to get ready to be annoying myself at my family's party.
  5:11pm
fred von helsing:

Be annoying! American needs more noyings!

Anyway, about Amadeo's "interesting" problem...

Yeah, I know a kid who says "Weird!" about nearly everything.

Thing is, in that sort of context, the word conveys absolutely no information about the thing being spoken about. It only serves to identify what the speaker is either unfamiliar or uncomfortable with.

It's like one of the words which creeps me out the very most of all: "exotic", as usually used to describe someone of a different race, painfully often someone asian and female spoken of by a white dude.

Oh, and if you want a charming (if maybe a little painfully sincere and long-winded at moments, if one's in the mood to get snarky, so just don't watch it if that's you) song about Christmas from the point of view of someone who doesn't actually buy the literal religious part, there's this:

youtu.be...
  6:00pm
seang:

the word that creeps me out is "actually"
  6:03pm
Will in Paris:

Wishing you all a righteous Kwanzaa!
